The fame he sought for, had finally located him. For the pass two years, Daniel struggled to build a fan base, but after his debut book, his page grew into thousands, tens of thousands, then into millions.
Daniel made proper use of this opportunity, making millions of naira by selling ebooks on the media space. He became a national phenomenon and a force to reckon with as the Godfathers couldn’t pull him down.
Haters turned conspiracy theorist dubbed Daniel’s fame and wealth as the work of black m@gic, claiming the young man sold his soul to achieve such a feat. Despite the blackmail, Daniel stayed calm, treating his haters like they product lacking substance.
Tears of joy poured out unhindered as Daniel thanked his stars for not throwing in the towel and giving up, as his book grossed forty million naira in net profit, in the first three months of it release.
That was a feat no African author could achieve prior to this time, until Daniel surfaced in the horizon. The lifestyle he dreamt of was at his finger tips as he enjoyed luxury to it’s fullest.
Daniel got into a one night stand with Jennifer and this time the result was different. Two weeks after the encounter, Jennifer discovered she was pregnant.
Knowing her actions would be rewarded with cruel retribution, Jennifer called Daniel informing about the recent development.
Jennifer expected the worst outcome but to greatest surprise, Daniel insisted she kept the pregnancy, promising to take full responsibility of the baby as he never wanted to soil his hands in blood by encouraging abortion.
Breaking the news of being pregnant to her parents was no easy task for Jennifer, she kept it a secret praying to find the right words inorder to do so.
As time progressed, Jennifer’s body began to undergo changes, till there was nothing to hide. she then summoned courage to spill the beans even if it hurts.
” Jenny, what’s up with the long face” her mother questioned, noticing Jennifer’s swollen face and feet.
” Look, young woman,hope you are not pregnant ! Her mother questioned animating her face.
” Mum, I’m pregnant ” said Jenny in a frail voice.
” What! Tell me you are joking!
” No mum, it’s not a joke, I’m really pregnant” the replied.
” You said you are what? Her mother retorted.
” Mum, I’m sorry I am pregna*** before Jennifer could make a complete statement,he mum gifted her a resounding slap which blurred her vision for a moment.
” You know how hard we worked to pay your fees, instead of coming back with a commanding resut, you choose pregnancy as your certificate. Why did you choose to give my enemies leverage against me, Jennifer why! cried her mom as she gifted Jennifer another slap.
” Mr okoye, Jenny’s father was alerted by his wife’s voice as she kept ranting in the room.
” What’s going on here? Asked Jenny’s father in a thick baritone voice, walking into the room.
” Your daughter said she is pregnant! Said Jennifer’s mother.

Her father was instantaneously filled with indignation and he grabbed Jenny by the neck.

His grip was fastened on Jenny’s neck in so much that she struggled to breath.
” Who is responsible for the pregnancy! He screamed once again stretching forth his hands to hit Jenny, but his wife stopped him.
” Daddy” Jenny called.
” Don’t daddy me” her father retorted.
” It’s Daniel” replied Jennifer in a frail and fearful voice.
” Which Daniel? Her parents questioned simultaneously as if it was planned.

” You said Daniel impregnated you?
” yes mom” Jenny replied
“Be specific, which Daniel, the author or the mechanic?
” The famous author! She replied.
” Are you for real? Her mother questioned with her countenance switching from grief to glee.
” Yes mum” Jenny affirmed darting her gaze to the floor, as she stationed frozen in fear.
” The lord has done it said” said Jennifer’s mother, with her gaze fixed on the ceiling, raising her hands above her head, rendering praises.

Daniel took a step forward, grabbing Jenny by the hand, pleading for forgiveness, portraying humility, believing it will melt Jennifer’s heart, but instead. It unleashed the evil that laid trapped beneath her soul,as she swiftly shook off his hands and gifted him resounding slap.
Daniel looked Stephanie square in the eye, wondering when she had grown wings to lay hands on him during an argument.
But being the cool guy he was, he let the matter slide, dubbing her reaction to be the ” devil’s work”.
He took consolation in the thought that his wife would calm down if given a little space, but this was just the beginning of pain and suffering, as every passing minute hardened Jennifer’s heart.

Daniel was unstable as he had a rollercoaster of emotions. He suffered a panic attack and was rushed to the hospital. Luckily for him, he survived.
Despite the pains he caused stephenie, she was there supporting him through his trying times as Jennifer unleashed the force of hell. In the long run, the two found love, got married, had kids and lived happily ever after.
Jennifer just like the prodigal son, lavished all the wealth she earned from divorcing her husband.
When all was gone, her eyes opened, but it was already too late as another woman grabbed her spot, basking in the wealth she would have been enjoying if only she had let go of pride and submit to her husband.
The men she chased after all vanished after ruining her. Jennifer spent the rest of her days in the shackles of regret and depression, roaming the earth like a vagabond, searching for love but found none.
All she had left of the memories of joy and happiness but never the experience it, as her pompous behaviour had driven her out of a life of fortune and glory.
