Chapter 25 & 26 : The Emotional Turmoil
DAYS LATER~AUDITION DAY
~CRYSTAL HIGH
“Babe!!!!!!”. Serenity called waving at Winnie.
“Glad to see you today, I was worried for the past days you were absent”. Serenity added and Winnie sighed.
“I’m fine, my mum fell ill so I had to look after her”. Winnie replied smiling.
“Babes!!!”. Daphne called cheerfully running to meet them.
Valentina also appeared smiling and looking hot even in her uniform.
“Baby girls!!!!!”. Serenity giggled.
“I wish you both good luck”. Serenity added and they did a group hug.
“Thank you”. They both replied.
“Aren’t you gonna participate?”. Daphne asked.
“Oh please! I don’t want to get mocked or I’d just cut off their tongues”. Serenity said and they chuckled.
“Guess we share the same blood”. Valentina gushed.
“It’s starting soon, let head to the hall”. Winnie said checking her wristwatch.
They smiled and left for the hall.
~SCHOOL HALL
Students filed in taking their seats, not all are contestants, only the seniors were allowed to audition. Despite the fact that only seniors were allowed, only fifty percent are willing to participate.
“Good luck”. Valentino winked at Caitlyn and she squeezed her face in confusion.
Before she could say anything, he winked again and left.
She was given her tag and left, others came forward to get their tags and they all sat at different corners.
In no time, the audition commenced, students stepped out when their numbers are called.
Finally, it was Winnie’s turn.
“Good morning, I’m Winnie mercedes and I’d be presenting a song titled Faded by Alan Walker”.
Minutes later, she was done and half of the students stood up cheering her.

She smiled widely and left the stage, and jammed hands with her friends.
“That was awesome”. Daphne said smiling.
“Sincerely, you killed it baby!”. Serenity said and Winnie blushed.
“Your voice’s amazing”. Valentina gushed hugging her.
“Thank you”. Winnie said smiling.
Brandon was next and strangely, Daphne couldn’t get her eyes off him. After the accidental kiss, she has been avoiding him.
He sang one of Mary J Blight’s songs and left but not without receiving screams from the students, finally it was Daphne’s turn.
“I’m scared”. She suddenly said.
“Go for it baby! You can do it”. Winnie said patting her hair.
“I believe I can!”. She took in deep breaths before leaving for the stage.
Serenity, Valentina and Winnie’s screams were the loudest.
“Hi everyone, I’m Daphne McKenzie and I’d like to present a song titled Scars to your beautiful by Alessia Cara”.
She started off with a crazy pitch that got half of students screaming.

Different screams from different angle filled the air, Brandon just has his eyes fixed on her speechlessly, he finally found the girl with the vocal he has been on the look out for.
Marielle upon hearing her voice boiled in immense anger, she is not only beautiful but also has a crazy vocal that is way better than hers.
She sang the last line and sustained her pitch for a minute, that alone blew the head of the students. They all stood to their feet screaming and clapping.
She finally opened her eyes and was taken aback by the numbers of students on their feet.
“Thank you”. She did a slight now and finally left the stage.
“You’re the real deal!!!”. Winnie screamed hugging her tight.
“I’m speechless, for real”. Serenity said staring at her in disbelief.
“Like, how could your voice be so sweet? Please, let me tap from your voice”. Valentina said faking tears.
They all laughed.
“I’m proud of you!!!! You stole the hearts of the students already!!”. Serenity screamed hugging her tight.
“Stop been extra, you’re making me emotional”. Daphne said almost tearing up.
“Awwwn!!”. They said and hugged her tight.
Other students sang and it finally came to an end.
“You all did well and I was impressed, the names of ten lucky students will be pasted on the billboard on Monday, have a nice day”. Mr Rogers said and left with the other teachers.
~CITY MALL
Bethany pushed the cart to the cashier and it was packed, all was left was for her to pay and leave but she couldn’t find her wallet.
“Oh no! I must have dropped it at the office”. Bethany muttered.
“Sorry, can I go get my purse?”. Bethany said to the lady who frowned.
“What if you don’t come back?”. She asked.
“I’m not leaving with the goods, I’d take it with me…….”.
“I’d pay”. A guy said beside her.
“Oh, it’s nothing, I’d just……..”
“I insist”. He cuts in and brought out his card to pay.
He paid and helped her with the packed goods while they left.
“You really don’t have to help me with this, you’ve done enough”. Bethany said tucking her hair behind her hair.
“I insist”. He simply said again.
“Thank you”. She said and he frowned.
“For?”.
“The pay…..”.
“It’s not a big deal”. He replied smiling.
“I’d take it from here”. She said and he raised a brow.
“You sure?”. He asked and she nod.
“I’m Ronnie”.
“Bethany”. She replied and collected the bag.
He winked and left to his car while she waited for a cab, he stopped in front of her.
She actually rode in a cab because she was too tired to drive.
“Mind if I give you a ride?”. He asked and she sighed before entering.
“Thank you”. She said and he chuckled.
“Where are you heading?”.
“Home, I’d give you the direction”. She replied.
He nod and zoomed off.
He stopped in front of a huge gate and turned to her.
“Can I at least get your contact?”. He asked.
“Sure”. She replied, typed her number and stepped down.
“I’d give you a call tonight”. He winked and drove off.
She smiled and made her way inside.
NEXT DAY
6PM~MARIELLE’S MANSION
The compound is filled up with cars and more cars kept pulling up at the garage, students moved around with loud music booming at the background.
The party is held at Marielle’s mansion, her parents gave it to her because she requested for it, so she decided to throw the party there without her parents intervention.
HOT 5 are present at the pool side, Freddie as usual got surrounded with girls in the pool, Rudy wasn’t left out. Brandon, Jude, Phillip and Valentino were just chatting and drinking but Brandon’s eyes weren’t fixed in a position.
Marielle and her friends were also present except Winnie. Reece and Dwight to were there but not chatting, both waiting for Daphne.
A car pulled up at the garage and Valentina, Daphne, Winnie and serenity stepped down looking hot as ever.
“We are finally here! Time to catch some fun!!!!!!!!!!”. Valentina screamed dancing her hand in the air. The girls chuckled and made their way to the pool.
Can you ever get bored with her?
All attention were poured on the four girls as they walked together, Winnie and Daphne felt uncomfortable with the screams and glared they were receiving.

Dwight rolled his eyes when he heard the last statement and almost stood up to search for who said it but he stopped himself.
“Have fun around, I’d be back”. Serenity said and ran off to Phillip who took to his heels immediately.
“Guess it’s just the three of us”. Winnie sighed and danced her eyes around, obviously looking for Freddie.
She sighted him at the midst of some girls, their eyes met and she hurriedly looked away.
“Hey”. Dwight called waving at Daphne.
She smiled and walked over to him.
“You look hot tonight”. Dwight said and she blushed.
“Thank you”.
“Hi Reece”. She greeted and he just smiled.
“So…..”.
He was cut short when his phone vibrated in his pocket. He brought it out and it was a text from his mum, he sighed and stood up.
“Guess I’d have to call it a day here, my mum needs me”. He said and she nod.
He leaned closer and pecked her cheeks, Brandon who witnessed the scene, rolled his eyes and looked away.
“See ya”. He mouthed and left.
“Catch you around, my friends kinda need me”. She said to Reece
“Go on”. He replied smiling.
Daphne returned to her friends, and they sat at the edge of the pool gisting, with their legs in it.
“So now what?”. Laylani asked folding her arms below her b*obs.
She sneaked out of the house just to attend the party, her dad went to bed early.
“What are you both even planning?”. Caitlyn asked.
“You don’t have to know, you’re too soft to be here!!”. Marielle snapped and she frowned.
“What do you mean?”. Caitlyn asked.
“Can you fire a gun?”. Marielle asked.
Winnie excused herself to the restroom, though she doesn’t know her way around, she hasn’t been there before, she just roamed around till she got into the mansion.
She bumped into the rest of the Crystal Queens and fear gripped her immediately.
“Perfect timing”. Marielle said in her head.
“Look who we have here”. Laylani said smirking.
“What do you want?”. She found herself asking.
“Have fun around”. Marielle winked and left with the girls.
“That was weird”. Winnie thought and proceeded.
She got upstairs and was surrounded by five well built guys.
She panicked and tried running but they caught her and dug an injection into her skin, she fell unconscious immediately and was taken away.
Daphne became worried as she looked out for Winnie, it’s almost an hour and she isn’t back.
“Tina?”. She called.
Marielle and her cliques sat across them boring holes into their skin but Caitlyn just stared, she isn’t getting a bit of what’s going on neither does Laylani but she just played along.
“Are you sure Winnie’s fine?”. She asked and Valentina smiled.
“Of course, let’s party!!”. She screamed and jumped into the pool, she pulled Daphne along and they began splashing water on themselves.
Brandon smiled when he saw how happy she is in the water, his smiles faded when Marielle sat on his laps.
“Here comes the b*tch”. Jude hummed glaring at her
“Get off”. He said calmly.
“I miss you”. She said touching his cheek.
“Marielle, get off”. He said calmly again, he’s already losing the softness in him.
She leaned closer and was about pecking his cheek when Serenity grabbed her hair and pushed her off.
“Really? You’ve really upgraded your skill”. Serenity said chuckling.
“Watch your tongue b*tch!”. Marielle snapped standing to her feet.

Serenity landed three brain resetting slap on her face and she fell into the pool, students around mocked her.

“Mind taking a walk with me?”. Valentino asked Caitlyn who only gave him a blank expression.
“Everything looks odd today or is it just me?”. She asked inwardly.
“Hey!”. He snapped his fingers in her face.
“F*ck off!”. She snapped and moved to another seat.
“C’mon Lyn, I just wanna be your friend”. He said sitting beside her.
She scoffs and turned to him.
“So your crazy sister can disfigure my entire body again?”. She asked and he sighed.
“She won’t, besides you are not like your friends, you’re just trying to be like them,you and Winnie are different, I can see it”. He said and she hissed.
“Dream on fool”. She spat and walked away.
He sighed and just stared at her.
Freddie who kept looking around for Winnie came out of the pool worriedly and left for the mansion.
“Hey”. Brandon squatted at the edge of the pool waving at Daphne.
“Hi”. She replied and moved closer to him.
He helped her out and wrapped a towel around her, he smiled and brushed her hair backwards with his hands.
“You look pretty tonight”. He complimented and she smiled.
“Thank you”. She replied taking in her lips, his eyes travelled down there and he looked away.
“You should keep yourself warm, if you don’t wanna catch the flu”. He said and she nod.
“You were the one after all”. He said again, she looked up and their eyes met. She coughed and moved back.
“I…….”
She was interrupted by Freddie who rushed to them panting heavily.
“What?”. They both said.
Brandon and Freddie took few steps from Daphne and suddenly, Brandon turned swiftly, he widened his eyes in great shock.
“Daphne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”. He yelled and gunshots followed.
A body dropped into the pool and the water instantly became bloody.
Chapter 27 & 28 : The Hidden Pain

“Brandon!!!!!!!”. Valentino screamed jumping into the pool.
“Call an ambulance!!!!”. A student screamed.
Freddie traced where the shot came from and chased after the guy on mask. He tried firing the gun but there wasn’t any bullet remaining.
Freddie almost caught up with him when he tripped and fell hurting his knees in the process. He groaned painfully and tried chasing after him but the pain gripped him making him lose balance. That gave the mask guy the chance to escape.
“Freddie!!!”. Phillip called rushing over to him with few students.
“Where is he?”.
“He escaped”. Freddie said and Phillip hissed.
He helped him up and left to the waiting van.
“This is all my fault!”. Daphne cried as Brandon was rushed into the van.
Not only one bullet is in his skin but two f*cking bullet, one in his shoulder and the other in his stomach.
“No it’s not, stop crying like he’s dead!”. Serenity said consoling her.
“Winnie is also missing!!”. Daphne cried harder hitting herself hard on the floor.
“Stop the tears, nothing will happen to her, let’s go after them”. Valentina said hugging her.
They got into the cars they came with and left with the ambulance.
9:45PM~SEOUL HOSPITAL
Brandon was rushed in with the stretcher, his eyes were gradually closing and he is losing too much blood. In as much as they tried to stop the bleeding, he still bleed profusely.
He was taken into the emergency ward while the others waited outside crying and praying.
“He is a fighter, he will not die”. Rudy said trying to console the crying Daphne.
Everyone present are all broken but decided to act strong unlike the fragile Daphne. Even the Crystal Queens were present, Marielle crying, Laylani looking worried, Caitlyn who has a sad face on but still doesn’t understand what’s going on.
Freddie couldn’t think in a direction, he couldn’t stop thinking about Winnie and Brandon.
Is Winnie save?
Or she left? No! She wouldn’t leave without informing her friends.
Will Brandon make it out?

He hissed and blink back the tears threatening to fall.
Serenity walked over to Marielle and pulled her out.
“Let go of me witch!”. Marielle yelled yanking her hand off.
“I can see you gat your nerves high”. Serenity smirked.
“I’m going in if you have nothing reasonable to say”. Marielle hissed and was about leaving when Serenity slammed her back against the wall.
“Where is Winnie?”. Serenity asked and she froze a bit.
“How do you expect me to know where she is? I’m not her protector”. Marielle snapped.
“How about we run a loyalty test?”. Serenity asked smirking.
“Go to h*ll dumbbell!!!”. She spat and left.
Serenity sighed, she doesn’t even know who to hold responsible for Winnie’s disappearance. She sighed and went back inside.
Daphne stopped her tears already buy her eyes never left the door.
8AM~NEXT MORNING
Everyone had returned to their house except Daphne, the twins and Phillip. His mum is also admitted I’m the same hospital.
The doctors claimed he lost so many blood and he needs more blood, none of the blood in the lab matches his.
“Have you informed his parents?”. The doctor asked.
“Yes sir”. Valentino replied.
They actually informed their parents, they aren’t really close with the President, the kids just happen to attend the same school right from elementary school.
“We’ve stopped the bleeding but he needs more blood as soon as possible”. He said.
“Can we see him now?”. Daphne asked and he sighed.
“One after the other”. He said and left.
Daphne rushed in, she saw his bandaged hand and she burst into tears. She moved closer and touched his hand, he slowly opened his eyes and his gaze fell on the crying Daphne.
He couldn’t speak nor raise his hands, he just stared at her crying, suddenly, tears fell from his eyes and she quickly wiped them off.
“You don’t need to cry, I’m such a fool for crying in front of you”. She said hiccupping.
His gaze fell on the water beside his bed, she turned and shook her head.
“I don’t need it”. She mouthed.
She kissed the back of his palm and few guards burst into the ward. The twins and Phillip also rushed in with them.
“Who the h*ck are you?”. Valentino asked.
Brandon just stared at them blankly.
“We were given orders by the President to take him away from this place”. One of them said and Valentina stood in front of them angrily.
“Can’t you guys see he’s too weak to move a muscle? He needs blood and not to be taken away from here!!!!”. She said and they shoved her aside.
Some doctors rushed in and the one in charge of Brandon walked closer to them.
“They are just trying to do their jobs, his father requested they bring him home. Their family doctor is waiting at home, so allow them do their job miss”. He said and they transferred the weak Brandon to a stretcher.
“Can we at least go with him?”. Daphne asked worriedly.
“I’m afraid you can’t”. Another guard said.
Brandon’s eyes never left the already crying Daphne as they pushed him out of the ward.
~HARMONY HOTEL
Rudy sighed as he entered the elevator, he hasn’t visited the girl he dropped at the hotel since that night.
He got to the floor and went to her room, he knocked but got no reply. He knocked again and it’s still the same. He hurriedly brought out the card from his pocket and unlocked the door.
He stepped in but couldn’t find her in sight. He heard the sound of the door and swiftly turned. She was just coming out of the bathroom, the towel barely reached her thighs. He swallowed hard and looked away.
“I’m sorry”. He muttered and she nod.
She picked her clothes and went back to the bathroom. He sank his hands into his hair and sighed out.
She returned to the room but he didn’t look at her. He sat on the couch while she sat on the bed far away from him though.
“Good morning”. She muttered picking her nails.
“Yeah”. He simply replied.
“Thank you”. She said again and he finally turned.
“You should talk about yourself instead”. He said in a stern voice.
“My parents and twin are…..”
“Late…… What happened to them?”. He asked cutting her short.
“Plane crash”. She replied and he sighed.
“So….. Your house? Relatives?”. He asked.
“They took everything my parents worked for, I was squatting with my aunt till she became fed up and pushed me out that night”. She said sniffing.
He stared at her for a while and looked away.
“School?”.
“I finished high school last year”. She replied.
“Age?”.
“19”. She replied and he looked at her again.
“She is even a year older than me”. He said inwardly.
“So what are your plans now?”. He asked.
“I’d get a job to get myself back to school and also repay your kindness”. She replied and he scoffed.
“You don’t know me but still you provided the three basic necessities for me, I know it’s a huge burden to you, so I’d……”.
“I never said anything like that”. He cuts in again.
“Nevertheless, I can’t keep staying here. You’ve done enough for me”. She said and he only sighed.
“You can stay here till you get a job and an apartment”. He said sharply.
“No need, I’d just….”
“I insist”. He interrupted.
“Then i’d work hard enough to pay you back”. She said and he chuckled.
“With?”. He asked.
“Let’s do it like this….. I’d buy you anything you want”. She replied.
“How about you buy me the latest car, I need a new car”. He said and she gasped.
“Even if I work for one thousand year, I still won’t be able to raise the money”. She rushed her words and he chuckled.
“Just kidding….. See you some other time”. He said standing to his feet.
“As for the payback……I’d think of what I want”. He winked and left.
She smiled and laid on the bed staring at the ceiling.
~SEOUL HOSPITAL
“I guess we have no choice than to go home”. Valentino said.
“Will he be fine?”. Daphne asked bitting her lips.
“He would, trust me”. Valentina replied.
“I kinda feel guilty”. Daphne said again and Valentino pulled her into a warm embrace.
“It’s fine, he’d be fine and you’d be fine”. He said patting her hair.
She broke the hug and they left the ward. Phillip got a call from his sister and he didn’t waste anytime in picking up the call.
“What!!!!!!!!”. He screamed and the phone fell from his hand.
His whole body was shaking in fear as he rushed to his mum’s ward, the machines aren’t beeping anymore and her body was covered.
“Mum!!”. He called trying not to break down.
“You’re sleeping right?”. He asked shaking her lifeless body.
“Mum!!!!!!!”. He screamed shaking her vigorously.
He finally broke down when he saw she wasn’t moving, he held her hands and weeped profusely.
Chapter 29 & 30 : Dark Past
9AM~NEXT DAY
~HAYES MANSION
“Phil, you need to get yourself together, please”. Bethany pleaded trying hard not to break down.
Her corpse has been taken to the morgue, she would be buried the next day and he hasn’t stopped his tears.
He turned way from her bursting into another round of hot tears.
“Phil!!”
“Leave me alone!!!!!!!!!” He screamed.
He pushed her out of his room and shut the door.
They did a lot before they could bring him home because he refuse to believe his mum left him.
His dad as well is trying his possible best to be strong for his late wife, he hasn’t been himself lately, overworking himself just to forget about her but the memories they made were to much to be forgotten just in a day.
Serenity took in deep breaths before entering his room, his room was in a total mess, he didn’t bother looking up, he just stayed at a corner crying his eyes out.
She sat beside him and pulled him into a warm embrace. She stroked his hair while he never stopped crying.
“Let it all out if that will make you feel good”. She whispered still stroking his hair.
He wrapped him arms around her, tightening the hug as more tears poured out.
~THE PRESIDENT’S VILLA
The doctor just left and his dad entered, he stood beside his bed staring at him.
Brandon opened his eyes slowly and his eyes fell on his dad who has no special expression on.
He left his room without saying a word, he sighed sadly and tried reaching for his phone.
He looks more better than yesterday, he just doesn’t need to stress himself till his injuries heal up.
He sat up groaning in pains and finally up picked his phone. Turning it on, the trending news was all about “The death of Mrs Hayes”. He sighed sadly and dropped his phone.
He doesn’t even have the strength to cry not talk, he decided within him to attend her funeral.
~STUDY ROOM
“Look into the footage of every single thing that happened at the party!!”. The President demanded.
“Also, find that bast*rd that shot him and make sure he rot in ja!l”. He ordered and hanged up.
Even though he hated his son, he still can’t bare to watch him die. He had always blamed him for the death of his beloved wife, he never cared about anything but his reputation.
He’s a ruler of a country and he can’t let his people down.
He sighed and picked up a book to read, he read at his leisure time, Brandon got that from him.
~MCKENZIE’S MANSION
No one bothered to ask why she didn’t come home for two nights. Mere thinking about that broke her into pieces.

She broke down into more tears, she has been trying Brandon’s number but it’s not going through. She tried again and it rang but no one picked it.
She heard a soft knock on her door, she wiped her tears, she opened the door revealing Dwight.
She hugged him tight breaking down again, he reciprocated the high and shut the door.
He kissed her hair.and sighed.
“Stop the tears doll, he’d be fine”. He said breaking the hug.
He wiped her tears and pulled her cheek slightly.
“Mind me taking you somewhere?”. He asked.
“I’m not interested”. She replied sitting on the bed.
“C’mon, it’s just for you to let go of this tears for some minutes”. He said and she stayed mute.
“I said I’m not interested!!!”. She snapped and he sighed.

“I almost died!!! He risked his life for me!! I don’t even know if he’s still alive or dead!! My parents didn’t bother asking why I wasn’t home for two f*cking nights and you expect me to smile!!!”. She screamed throwing all her pillow on him.
“If I was the one who took the bullets for you, would you have done the same thing?”. He asked and her jaws dropped.
“Are seriously asking me that? Are you !nsane???”. She yelled.
He suddenly regretted saying that, he tried touching her but she threw his hand off.
“Don’t f*cking touch me!!!!!”. She snapped pushing him off.
“I’m sorry”. He said and she scoffed.
“Just leave!”. She snapped diverting her gaze elsewhere.

“I said leave!!!!!”. She screamed and he sighed.
He left without looking back and she broke down into another round again.
“Arrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!”. She screamed pouring her aggression on her bed, hitting it hard.
“Don’t you think it’s high time we tell her the truth?”. Mr McKenzie asked.
“I don’t think so, just let her be”. Mrs McKenzie replied rolling her eyes.
“We can’t just this slide, let’s just tell her the truth!”. He snapped.

“What truth are you talking about?”. Lucy asked entering her parents room.
“Nothing darling!”. Mrs McKenzie hurriedly said.
“You both are getting suspicious this days and it’s alarming”. Lucy said.
“Wanna go shopping with momma?”. She asked and Lucy gasped.
“Sure, let’s go!”. Lucy screamed happily.
She secretly rolled her eyes at her husband before leaving with Lucy.
~GREY’S MANSION
“I scored 20 in my test”. Carl said happily running to Freddie’s room with his test book.
“That’s my boy! Big bro is proud of you”. He said scattering his hair.
“Stop!! You know I hate it”. Carl yelled and he chuckled.
“What of aunt Winnie?”. Carl asked and he sighed.
“You should go take a nap, I’m trying to think here”. He replied and he frowned.
“What do you mean? Is she fine?”. Carl asked worriedly.
“I don’t know Carl, my head is a mess right now”. Freddie said.
“If you don’t tell me, I won’t stop pestering you”. Carl demanded.
“She has been kidnapped!”. Freddie said scattering his hair.

10PM~MERCEDES APARTMENT
Mrs Mercedes sat outside crying, her daughter hasn’t been home for two days and her number is also not going through.
Her father came out dressed and she turned to him.
“Where do you think you’re going?”. She asked still crying.
“That doesn’t concern you”. He snapped.
“Are you even an human? Your daughter didn’t come home for two days now and you’re not even bothered!!”. She yelled and he scoffed.
“You must be !nsane to called her my daughter. I pray she doesn’t return”. He spat and left.
She sat on the ground crying profusely, she tried calling her again but the call bounced back.
“Winnie where are you? I miss you!!”. She cried.

Cold water ran down her head to her cloth and the floor, Winnie jerked her eyes opened shivering.
Her hands and leg tied to a chair, she stared at the rough looking man in front of her. She cringed in fear, her whole body in severe pain, bruise all over her body and especially her face.
Three slaps landed on her wounded face, tears dropped from her face as the slap stung her, her dried throat hitched her badly.
She hasn’t taken anything for the past two days, she couldn’t even lift a finger.
“Can I please get water to drink?”. She asked weakly.
“Sure”. He said and grabbed one.
“Here you go”. He said throwing the bottle at her.
The bottle hit her head hard and she bleed from that spot, she sniffed in tears and he chuckled.
The outburst of the door made Winnie look up, her teary eyes cleared immediately she saw the person who walked in with smirks on her face.
“Marielle!!”. She called weakly.
