Emily hugged the pink big teddy bear to her chest, dark circles were under her eyes. She couldn’t sleep last night, her mind wasn’t settle.
Did she did the right thing by falling in love with her brother?
She couldn’t control her heart.
She threw the teddy across the room angrily and she dived her hand into her hair crazily.
“What is wrong with me?” she used her knuckle to hit her forehead, dramatically.
A soft knock was heard from outside and she raised her head up, she came down from the bed and wore her fluffy slippers before walking to the door.
she twisted the door knob slowly and when the door opened Mrs Brooks face came to view.
Worries and disturbing look was plastered all over her face, she entered the room fully and hugged Emily to herself and they went back to the bed as soon as they disengaged.
“Baby are you okay? You don’t look fine.. gosh look at your eyes,did you sleep at all?” she held her face and Emily sighed, sitting on the bed.
“Am fine mom,you shouldn’t be worried about me” she said in a more convincing manner.
She grabbed her face and started turning them sideway.
“No you aren’t” she released her.
“Trust me mom”
“I noticed you became sad ever since your brother left, are you both having any issues? Did he said something bad to you? Did you provoke him and he hit you or something? Answer me baby”.
“Mom… nothing happened”.
“Then what exactly is the problem?”
“Mom..Can I tell you something?” She whispered and Mrs Brook nodded.
“Sure, what’s that?” She took her tiny hand into hers and she started caressing it.
“So, there is this friend of mine in school, she was adopted when she was ten into a rich home. Her adoptive parents has a really cute son and the son is really close to my friend. They’re so close that one could mistake them as lovers. she got attracted to him and she started developing feelings for him. She chase any girl that comes close to her brother….so the question here is, will it be possible for the two siblings to date? They aren’t related in any way though,do you think it’s possible?” She asked nervously.
“That is insane. Why would your friend think of something like that,huh? It isn’t right at all. She should be grateful to her adoptive parents for giving her a bright life. Falling for their son is a big mistake”.
“But they aren’t related in any way,mom.. don’t you think it’s possible for them to date?” She asked again and Mrs Brooks gave her a suspicious look.
“tell her not to say anything to her brother, and also tell her to not be too close to her brother, that way the feelings for him will disappear”
“But she loves him mom, she really do!” She half yelled and Mrs Brook stood up and Emily looked away.
“What exactly is going on, Emily? Are you keeping something for me? You know this your friend too much and the last time I remember you change friends everyday like under wears” she shifted closer to her,emily moved backward,still on the bed.

“We took you from the orphanage and brought you here and that makes you and Carson siblings” she gasped. “Don’t tell me you made up that story while the actual victim here is you?” she said and Emily shook her head.
“It wasn’t made up i swear, my friend was also adopted too” she shuttered, fearfully.

“Then tell her not to confess or say anything to him else their relationship as siblings will be ruined. She should keep off from her brother, it’s for her own good” she said and Emily bit her bottom lips.
Mrs Brooks sat on the bed and she gesture for emily to come closer and when she did she hugged her tightly.
“Am so sorry baby, I almost thought you were actually talking about you and carson but who am I kidding you will never do something as crazy like that, there’s no way you would think of falling in love with your brother…” she chuckled and emily laughed nervously.
She moved her hand to her face and started rubbing it softly,Emily held her hand, smiling.
“Am sorry for accusing you wrongly”.
“It’s fine mom” she interuppted.
Am sorry for falling in love with you son, I’m so stupid for trying to make your son mine but I’ll try to get over that feelings for him,I hope he forgives me she said inwardly.
“But am also curious about something though….Why were you crying when I came to your room yesterday evening, and why was Carson looking furious too?” She asked.
A maid came and placed a knock on the door even when it was opened widely, Emily sighed in relief.
“Breakfast is ready ma’am. Mr Brooks is at the dinning already” she bowed, and left after mrs brook told her she will be there soon.
“Have your bath real quick baby and come join us for breakfast, okay” she stood up and emily nodded.
She gave her a short smile before leaving her room, Emily released the breath she was holding and sighed loudly.
“That was close emily” she stood up and walked to door, shutting it.
“I’ll try my best to get rid of that feeling,I can’t stand to see mom get angry, she is a very nice woman and developing feelings for her son isn’t right” she muttered.
Father and son are seated on the couch, talking about radom stuffs. Chloe wasn’t with them because she is upstairs dressing up for school, their exams are around the corner.
“Your grandparents will be so happy to see you this morning, don’t you think?” Carson spoke up and Ryan frowned.
“I don’t want to stay there dad” he pouted.
“Why son? I thought you said you love to stay with grandma,then why are you now hesitating to go?”
“I don’t like that aunt,she is bad” he said and hugged Carson arm.
“Aunt? Did she did something to you,huh?”
“Nevermind. I don’t want you to be angry with her because of me, just forget I said that” he shrugged.
“What did she do, son?”
“Nothing,I don’t just like her”.
“That’s a lie,I can tell you’re lying..now tell me the truth, son”.
Ryan took his time to explain everything that happened to him.
“That’s what happened dad. Please don’t tell mom or fight your sister. Grandma hit her already and am fine now”
“Why shouldn’t I tell your mom?” he raised his brow.
“Mom doesn’t take shit with anybody who tries to hurt me,there was a time a lady hit me because I mistakenly stepped on her toe and it was during christmas and I came to visit her during Christmas…The lady almost died and that’s the reason I don’t want her to find out what aunt did” he explained and Carson chuckled.
He took an apple from the plate on the table and he took a bite from it and he gave the rest to Ryan.
“Fine..I won’t tell your mom and don’t worry about your aunt, I’ll talk to her after I dropped you at your grandparents place”.
“O..Kay, dad” he smiled, revealing his white teeth.
“So tell me something son, when I was away how did you and your mom managed” he asked and he smiled.
“That’s a really long story dad. Mom never stopped working every day and night just so she could provide for me, there was a time I fell sick and mom had to used the money she planned on using to pay her fees in school to get me treated” he muttered.
“Mom doesn’t fell shy or ashamed anytime she is walking with me, people always say mean words to her they thought I didn’t have a father but they never knew my dad was out of the country saving enough money for me and mom” he chuckled.
“you came too late dad, you should have come quick that way me and mom won’t have suffer much” he pouted and carson felt a sudden sharp feeling of sadness,pity and regret all over him.
Was Ryan the reason why she kept pleading for mercy when she broke the vital glasses?
She must have really gone through alot trying to feed herself and their son.
“Dad..are you okay?” Ryan asked and Carson smiled, pecking his forehead.

Carson stood up and in a slow mo he went over to chloe and he hugged her tightly. Chloe was stunned by what carson just did but she hugged him back anyway.
He broke the hug and cupped her cheek into his palm, chloe was searching his eyes for clues.
“Thank you for playing the father and mother role for our son when I wasn’t there for you both” he said and Chloe chuckled as he released her.
“Now I know why you’re behaving like this” she said and walked to Ryan

“Nothing much” he chuckled and chloe carried him and they all started walking outside, Carson was behind them.
“You’re keeping secrets from momma, huh?” She tickled his waist and he started laughing and Carson smiled on seeing how happy both mother and son are.
“My daughter lives here, let us in please!” They halted and raised their brow as soon as they heard voices outside.
“I don’t know you ma’am and I can’t let you in, please leave” the guards said chasing them away.
The gate was slightly opened and Mr and Mrs harpers could see who was inside.
“There she is. She’s my daughter” jade shouted and both she and her husband pushed the guards out of the way and they ran inside.
Chloe was keeping a straight face on.
“Who is she mom?” Ryan asked, pointing at them.
“People you shouldn’t know” she dropped him and Carson took him and both of them went to the parking lot leaving Chloe and her parents alone.
Chloe eyes weren’t friendly and if looks can kill then her parents obituary pictures would have lined up in the whole of Italy.
“Baby we’re sorry” Mr harpers tried holding her but she shifted backward.
“Say whatever you want to say and leave” she pointed at the gate, angrily.
“Thank you, thank you so much”.
“We relocated to UK after your dad was framed by one of his trusted right hand man, he was detained by the police and he couldn’t participate on the upcoming election, we were left with nothing” jade said sadly and chloe scoffed.
“Are you trying to tell me that reputation you were busy protecting is now gone?” She asked in a mockery tone.
“We’re sorry chloe… I’m sorry for chasing you out of the house, I was busy trying to save my reputation which I didn’t know it would crumble soon” Mr Harper said, folding his palms together.
Chloe looked at them closely and that was when she noticed how unkept they look, the outfits were outdated even the shoes they wore made it worst.
She sighed.
“I have nothing to say to both of you.. I’m sure you saw my son minutes ago,yeah I guess you both did. I struggled to bring him to this world and take care of him without the help of both of you… bringing him to this world and having him is something I won’t regret”.
“Chloe am so sorry..I shouldn’t have treated your harshly like I did years ago,I regretted my actions and I’m still feeling guilty till this very day” Tears fell from jade eyes as she talks.
“If I say I forgive you both,will you both leave my life for good?” She threw the question at them like a piece of paper.
“Chloe please…”
“I forgive you both, happy now?”
“It didn’t come from your heart”.
“Just leave, I’ve classes to attend this morning please leave and never show your faces to me” She removed her gaze from them trying to blink the tears out of her eyes.
They went down on their kneels at once and Chloe gasped.
She gesture for the guards to come and when they did,she told them to take them away and never allow them in again.
“My baby please…let me see my grandson at least!! We’re really sorry we didn’t know what we were doing! Chloe please” their screams filled the air and chloe wiped the little ball of tears that was threatening to fall from her eyes.
This was the opposite of what she had said years ago.
Mom.. please! The baby is your grandchild! It wasn’t my fault! Dad please!
Carson hugged her from behind, startling Chloe.
“You don’t want Ryan to know how weak you are, right?” Carson said and she shook her head forcing a smile, she turned to him and they interlocked fingers as they walked to the car.
EVENING••
Juliana pressed the four digit and the door opened, she wanted to walk inside when someone held her from behind
“Luke” she called, as butterflies started dancing in her tummy.
“I was actually behind you all this while but you were so focused on where you were going that you didn’t notice” he said and Juliana laughed nervously.
“My boss threatens to deduct from my salaries if I don’t keep up with time” she said, forming a little circle on the ground with her legs.
“Is that so, then I think I should leave then.. ” Juliana held his arms unknowingly but she quickly let him go after realizing what she just did.
“Don’t leave yet! I’ll go freshen up” he smiled and entered the house with her. “Wait for me here, I’ll back before you know it” she said and left the sitting room hurriedly.
“Okay peach, I am waiting” he said and sat on the couch.
CARSON’S MANSION••
The maid dropped chloe sandwich and juice on the table in fear, her whole body was shaking and palms and body was sweaty even when the AC was turned on.
She brought her phone from her pocket and texted someone.
“It’s done” she typed with shaking hands.
Chloe has a blank expression on, descending from the stairs.
“Are you okay? You don’t look fine!” Chloe said worried as she sat on the chair.
“I..am.. fine” She wiped off sweat from her forehead which chloe find weird.
“Look at you! You don’t look fine, What’s the problem?”
“Nothing ma’am. I just felt weak all of a sudden and this is usual” she lied.
“You can take a break yunno,I won’t mind”
“It’s fine ma’am. I’ll manage” she bowed and left.
“Weird…is she really okay?” She muttered, watching her leave till she was out of sight.
She rolled her eyes and took the toasted bread , she was about putting it into her mouth when he heard footsteps and she looked up.
Carson was staring at something in his phone and he look focused.
“Princeton is in coma, gosh” Carson switched off his phone and pocket it.
“Why am I having pity for him now” she muttered, resting her jaw on her hand.
“Don’t pity him,he deserves it” he took the sandwich and started eating it slowly.
The maid who was watching them from the kitchen gasped as tears left her eyes, she ran into the kitchen and took her phone to dial a number.
“hey! That’s mine” she fake a sad face the moment Carson ate half of the sandwich.
” she will make another one, baby mama” Carson chuckled and chloe frowned.
Carson collected the juice too and drank a little from it and chloe almost screamed.
Carson started coughing all of a sudden and Chloe had to get up from the chair.
“Are you okay? Do you need water?” She said worriedly when his breathing became unstable.
He started coughing out blood and Chloe eyes grew larger more than it normal size and as if that wasn’t enough, he fell to the ground.
“Carson!!!!” She cried and knelt beside him.
Episode 45 & 46 : Love and Hate

Chloe placed his head on her lap and she started tapping his face but he wasn’t responding,his mouth was becoming pale already. His hands were cold as that of an ice block.
“Carson don’t do this to me, please!!” she shouted in tears. “Someone help me please! Please!” she cried, trying to lift him up but she couldn’t.
All this while the maid didn’t come outside, she was in the kitchen sobbing. She just killed her boss.
she poured all the substance into the juice and poured a little on the sandwich when she was making it.
“Nooo!!!” Chloe screamed and her eyes opened at once.
It was all a dream,a fucking dream.
she sat up on the bed and placed her right hand on her chest that was racing faster. That weird dream almost took her soul away just now.
Everything felt so real and for a minute she thought she was going to loose Carson just like that.
What is gonna be her fate?
How is she gonna take care of her son alone?
How is Ryan gonna take this? He is too little to lose his father at a young age.

He position her properly on her waist and he started walking back to the couch.
“You look really happy.. what’s the secret?” He winked but she didn’t reply.
Instead,she held his face and slammed her lips on his, she circled her hands around his neck, kissing him crazily.
“That was sudden baby mama” Carson chuckled when they broke the kiss.

“Don’t ever think of leaving me and our son behind, I won’t be able to take it. Don’t leave me please, I love you so much carson” she sniffed and Carson used his thumb to wipe her tears from the corner of her eyes.

The maid bowed immediately chloe got to her. Chloe drew the chair out and sat on it. Carson was staring at her from where he was standing, trying to read her mind.
“I made you sandwich ma’am” she shuttered.
“Awwn.. that’s so sweet of you” chloe smiled and clasped her hands together, placing it under her jaw.
“it’s nothing ma’am. I put a lot of effort in making it and I hope you will like it” she bowed repeatedly.
“Of course I will” she nodded and she carried the sandwich from the little plate, ready to eat it but she paused and smirk.
She did that to know if the maid really loves her by stopping her. She wasn’t expecting something like this from her…gosh! Who could have sent her to harm her?
“I’m not that greedy yunno” she stood up circled her hand around the maid neck.
“I want you to try the sandwich first” she released the bombshell and the tray fell from the maid hands to the ground.
“Yeah, try it” she repeated.
“Ma’am.. it’s yours, I made it specially for you…” She said, and glued her legs together trying to hold her bladder.
“Are you okay?”
“I..am.. fine” she stammered.
“Then eat the damn sandwich now” she hit her fist on the table angrily and Carson had to come.
Chloe took the juice and emptied it on the maid body.
Tears were flooding out of her eyes.
“Baby mama, what’s going on?” He asked.
“Who sent you?” Chloe directed the question to the maid.

“You’re sorry?” She laughed dryly. “I’ve always been a good boss to you,I treated you like my sister but what did you do, you tried to poison me right?” Chloe yelled, making Carson and chloe to gasp.
“Yeah…you Poison that sandwich, didn’t you?” she shouted and the maid fell on her knees.

“Brielle is no longer in the country” he broke the silent and Chloe who was breathing heavily stopped and twitched her brow.

“She told me her name was Brielle Presley… that was what she said” she hiccuped.

She ran to the maid and started hitting her again.

The maid phone started ringing and she brought it out of her apron pocket with shaking hands.
“It’s her! She is the one calling” she shuttered and Chloe took the phone from her hand forcedly and answered the call.
“Is she dead already? Are you sure she took the poison? The media should be filled already with her obituary pictures and her news? What’s going on? Did you get caught? Why aren’t you saying anything!”
The person yelled and the phone fell from Chloe hands, shattering into pieces on the tiles.
She knows that voice! She knows who owns that Korea accent! She knows that tone!….it wasn’t Brielle but Jennie.
FLASHBACK,HOURS AGO••
Yasmine (the maid) came out of the grocery store, holding six bags,three each on both sides. The evening sun was starting to show up and she smiled.
She wanted to hail a cab down when a car stopped in front of her. She raised her brow and took few steps backwards.
“Hey there” the girl who came down from the car greeted, she didn’t reply instead she nodded her head.

“How may I help you miss?” Yasmine asked nervously and the girl chuckled.
“Nothing much” she started walking around her, tapping her shoulder as she walks.
“Yasmine Lopez, 30 years, 3 kids, single mom, widow coz your husband died in a car accident 4 years ago” the girl stated and the maid gasped, dropping the bags at once.
“How…did…you.. know…all.. this?” She stammered.
“Is that question really necessary right now?… Wait here” the girl said and went to her car, she came back with a tiny bottle containing some whitish substance in her hand. The girl opened Yasmine hand and dropped the bottle in it.
“What am I supposed to do with this?” She stared at the bottle strangely.
“Mix that substance into chloe’s food, make sure you used it all” she instructed.
“Who are you exactly? How did you know my boss name?” She asked angrily.
“Relax!” she laughed. “Wanna know what your boss did?” she asked and Yasmine nodded.
” she stole my boyfriend, she stole my husband” she yelled and the maid flinched.
“erm…”
“finish her up with that thing in your hand. Make sure you finished everything in that bottle” she shouted and Yasmine nodded, shaking.
“And guess the most interesting part of everything….” She clapped. ” Once chloe dies, I’m gonna employ you as my personal maid for a job well done” she laughed crazily and Yasmine gulped.

“Your kids will have to go to rich school” she winked.
“Miss…”
“Send me your account details” she demanded and her eyes widened.

“Am serious! send me your account details and you’re gonna receive your payment ASAP” she said.
“Sorry to ask you miss but what’s your name?” She shuttered, facing the ground.

“That girl is more determined and smarter than I thought” Chloe rolled her tongue around her mouth, funnily before Carson could think of holding her she ran upstairs and came back with different outfit. A jeans and a white top.
The time was 6pm already but she didn’t care. Carson took his phone and dialed a number.
“Follow her and make sure nothing happens to her” he said to the person before ending the call.
He returned his gaze to the maid.
“Am sorry sir” the maid cried.
“Say that to the cops” he said and she shook her head negatively as Carson dialed the cops number.
PARKS MANSION••
Jennie stared at her phone awaiting the maid’s call but she didn’t call. She groaned in frustration. She stood up from her bed and went to the dressing table, on the table was a gorgeous looking mask.
“Was she caught?” She muttered, twirling the mask. She picked her phone and tried the number again but it was switched off this time around.
“Whatever!” She scoffed. “If she get caught and the police questioned her at the prison then my dear Brielle will be held” she laughed, looking at the mask. “The maid didn’t know me but she knows Brielle” she laughed crazily. “Aren’t I smart!?” she dropped the mask and grabbed a mp3 player. She wanted to turn it on when she heard a soft knock from the door.
“Aissh” she cursed and went to the door, a guard was standing there waiting for her.
“What do you want?” she screamed angrily.
“Sorry miss but you have a guest, she is waiting for you outside” he said and Jennie pushed him out of the way and started marching furiously outside.

“Who could that be?” She muttered and the guard opened the door for her,he left afterwards.
Jennie gasped when she saw who the person is, she gasped as fear ran all over her body.
She tried hiding her fears but Chloe could see through her.
“How dare you?” Chloe bounced on her body, raining her slaps and punches. Jennie couldn’t even breath.
She tried pulling chloe hair but Chloe overpowered her and she dealt with her mercilessly.
The pains chloe inflicted on her haven’t left her yet. She cried for help but no one came to her rescue even the guards simply because she instructed them not to come to her aid anytime she is having a fight with someone.
Chloe got up from her body and kicked her roughly and Jennie winced.
She acts all tough on the outside but she has no strength in her.
She managed to stood up and she gave chloe a hard glare. “Wae geu rae (what’s wrong with you?) ” She yelled at Chloe’s face.
“I don’t understand what you just said but I came here to warn you about something really important! Stay away from me” Chloe said.
“What are you even saying?”
“You thought I won’t find out?”
“What??” Jennie asked, acting like a saint.
“You manipulated my maid and I don’t even know how you did it but she kept mentioning Brielle name meanwhile you’re the real culprit here” she said.
“Ohh….Guess you found out already,so quick ” she chuckled in pains. “Well,I did it. I fucking asked my doctor for a face mask using Brielle face and am glad it worked but too bad you didn’t eat the poison like I predicted…. however, you’re just wasting your time coz they is no way the cops can get me because,I used Brielle mask and your maid only knows Brielle” she said proudly and Chloe only smiled.
“Are you that heartless to even drag Brielle name in your mess?”
“Brielle is a fool a big time fool! She claimed to love Carson but she can’t do anything for love ” she clicked her teeth. “Too bad she had to carry the burden ” Chloe palm flew to her cheek.
“You’re the fool here if you don’t know, keep on talking and don’t stop, I’ll be really glad if you don’t ” Chloe said, Jennie didn’t make any attempt to fight back she only watched Chloe suspiciously.
“What are you up to? You want to report me to the police without no evidence? What a joke ” she smiled dryly but Chloe didn’t say anything, she turned around and left.
While coming, she put her phone on recording mode and everything Jennie is saying are being recorded.
She got all the evidence she needed already.
“Hey! We aren’t done talking yet!” Jennie shouted, wondering why she didn’t react to everything she had just said.
NEXT MORNING••
Chloe yawned and turned to the other side of the bed with sleepy eyes. She really had a long day yesterday and she was so tired that she slept off immediately she came back from Jennie’s place.
The maid has been detained and they’ve been asking her questions non stop.
She finally opened her eyes slowly and her heart flew to her mouth when she saw Carson staring at her.
His hand was under his jaw as he stared at Chloe.
“Staring at your beautiful face heals the heart and makes it beat faster” he whispered. “Good morning baby mama” she blushed, sitting up on the bed.
“Do you slept well?” He asked
“I got the the evidence from Jennie herself… She foolishly confessed” Chloe said and grabbed her phone from the bed stand and she gave it to him. “That’s her confession” she said and the recording audio started playing.
“You’re a genius baby mama. You’re really smart, first you stopped yourself from dying and you also got the evidence from Jennie herself”.
“It was actually you who ate the sandwich in my dream”.
“Really? Thank God you dreamt about it. Should we open a church,seer?” He asked and Chloe laughed.
“Am not a seer”
“You are, if not for your bravery,I and Ryan would have been mourning your death now” he said sadly.
“Wait… aren’t supposed to take Ryan to somewhere today?” She blinked twice.
“you’re right! Today is Saturday and we’re supposed to go shopping” Carson muttered.
“Okay,here is what you will do..Call your sister and tell her to bring Ryan to the park. Then we will go to the prison to drop this.. Jennie needs to be arrested”.
“That sounds great.. I’ll call Emily right away”.
9PM, PARK••
A black limousine halted at a far distance to the park. The guard came down from the cab and opened the door for both Emily and Ryan to get down.
Emily and Ryan started walking to the park, leaving the guards leaning on the car alone.
Ryan yanked his little hand from Emily and her face fell.
Just yesterday when Carson and Chloe came to dropped ryan off to his parents, Emily had asked for Carson forgiveness and after much talk Carson accepted her back as her sister. Since she came back from school, she has been trying to start a little sister and nephew friendship with him but he didn’t want to.
“Are you still mad at me?” Emily pouted and he nodded.
Emily sighed.
“Won’t you forgive big sis,huh? I’m really sorry, I shouldn’t have hit you” she pleaded and he rolled his eyes.
Emily inhaled and exhaled deeply before squatting in front of him.
“Tell me what you want me to do for you and I’ll do it for you, anything “.
“Anything?”
“Yes”
“Okay…I need a chocolate ice cream” he pointed at the chocolate ice cream stall.
“Are you sure you don’t need anything else?”
“That’s what I need for now” he mumbled and Emily laughed and roughed his hair.
“Stay here okay, I’ll be back in a jiffy” She said and started walking to the chocolate stall which was just five minutes walk away from where Ryan is standing.
Ryan found a bench to sit on as he stared around, waiting patiently for his parents and Emily.
The other kids were playing happily and the urge to meet them and play along kept coming but he ignored that urge totally and sat back.

As if that wasn’t enough,two sounds of gunshots was heard people mostly little kids started running Helter skelter and everywhere became rowdy.
Emily turned at once, she didn’t care if the bullet hit her but she needs to save her brother son.
Emily dropped the two cones of ice cream and started running to where she left ryan…she stopped breathing when she didn’t see Ryan around that place.
