CHAPTER 1 & 2 : Sally Becomes Xavier’s Secretary
● WASHINGTON D.C ~ FUN FAIR PARK●
“So you need to get an exclusive before getting your promotion?” Sally ask May as she found a bench for them to seat on.
The park was a bit filled with children, adults, parents watching out for their kids and couples and friends who just came to have fun at the park.
Sally and May agreed to meet here since they always frequent the park whenever they get a free time.
“They didn’t tell me about the exclusive part. They watch me work my @ss off only to delay my promotion ” May said, feeling a bit used.
“That’s cruel but I know you can work this out. You are the greatest reporter have ever known, so this is definitely a piece of cake for you” Sally said, trying reassuring her friend.
“I know right and that’s why have thought of a very good exclusive. What do you think about Xavier Landon?” May ask.
“I do know Xavier is a one of those tycoon in the real estate business. Why do you ask?”
“I plan on using him to get my exclusive” May reply while Sally gave her a puzzling look.
“How?”
“Like everyone, we’ve only ever heard about Xavier Landon but we don’t know who he is, he keeps a low profile and does his best to get out of a press con or interview. After thinking things through have come to realise that he is keeping a secret, a secret which I want you to find out” May told her friend.
“Why me?”
“Cause you are the best when it comes to playing the part”.
“Am not an actress, May?”
“I know you aren’t one but you aspire to be one. I saw the audition booklet of the Shakespeare play in your room, you auditioned for it, right?” May ask and Sally nodded.
“What if I tell you that Xavier Landon is the one sponsoring the play. I did my finding on it and also while helping me out, you can get close to him and get him to help you with the audition” May suggest.
“I don’t May, this isn’t right” Sally said doubt fully.
“What’s right is that we both help each other. You get him to help you with the audition and I get my exclusive when you find out his secret” May said, nudging her on the side.

In a tent in the fun fair, Xavier Landon sat still while the palm reader stared at his hand.
Xavier sigh out for the third time since the palm reader have been starring at it for a while.
He stare at Genova Williams, his childhood best friend. Between them, she has always been the outgoing one, the one who loves to party while he is just the boring guy which he somehow like since no one bothers him.
Since it’s the weekend, Genova had force him to hang out with her at the fun fair which is why he is the tent, getting his palm read by a weird lady.
“All I see is just one thing” the lady said sometime later, letting go of his hand.
“What do you see?” Genova ask.
“Red, a lady in red is about to come into his life and she’s definitely going to turn it around” the palm reader said.
“Around in a good way or a bad way?” Genova ask.
“That I don’t know but you should be alert of the lady in red”.
“Lady in red my foot” Xavier let out when they were out of the tent.
“Common, she might be right”.
“Lady? You do know that apart from you and my grandma, I have no lady friend”.
“That’s because you scare them off with your * Don’t come close* looks” Genova counter.
“You weren’t scared by it”.
“I wasn’t but then I had to try about ten times before getting you to be my friend. Seems like am the only one who can tolerate your attitude” Genova said, linking arms with him.
“You are glad to be out here with me, right? I saved you from staying locked up in your study trying to think of ways to earn another million” Genova said.
“You didn’t and now that you mention it, it’s about time we leave”.
“Common Xavier, it’s still too early and there’s still a lot of things to do”.
“You know I hate being around people” Xavier reminded.
“Which is why you have to start getting use to it. You are the CEO of a real estate company, you need to interact more with people most especially your employees” Genova counter.
“I don’t need to interact with my employees, they get payed to do what I ask them and that’s final”.
“Okay! But for today, you will be spending more time outside with me. Oh! It’s cotton candy, let me get some for us” Genova said, rushing off.
Xavier was still waiting when two men approach him.
“Sorry to intrude but are you Xavier Landon?” One of them ask while the other brought out his camera to take pictures.
The camera lights got Xavier feeling dizzy, he has always hated the paparazzi, the only thing they do is to ask questions and take pictures which he hate.
“Hey! where are you going? Follow him!” The man said when Xavier ran off.
By now, a lot of reporters were chasing him, they must have got hold about him being at the fair? Could Genova have told them….he thought as he got to a photo booth.
He got in only to see a lady seated there, posing for the camera.
Sally sat right when an unknown man walk in, she was about telling him to leave when she heard some voices outside.

“Oh! Sorry” the man who came to check the photo booth said.

When they heard the receeding footsteps, Sally let go of Xavier, wondering why she felt a bit uneasy.
“Why did you help me?” Xavier ask.
“Because you need rescuing” she answered.
“Are you sure? Isn’t it because you will like me to be in your debt?” Xavier ask since he’s use to that sort of thing.
“And why will I want you in my debt. Are you the president or are you Xavier Landon? If you are one of them then that’d be great” Sally burst out.
“You mean you…don’t know me?” Xavier ask.
“I don’t, I only helped out a man in distress and so, I better get on” she said, turning to leave.
“Wait! Your coat”.
“It’s best you keep wearing it. They won’t recognize you with that on” she said and turn to leave only to stop.
“And also saying thank you is the best thing at situation like this” Sally added and left.
Xavier made a call to his chauffeur and Genova and when the call ended, he found himself thinking of Sally, wondering who she is.
● A WEEK LATER ~ LANDON REAL ESTATE COMPANY ●
“Boss, boss, we are here” James, Xavier temporary secretary call but Xavier didn’t answer which got him muttering under his breath.
“Here we go again. Acting like he doesn’t hear me when I know he does”.
Letting out a sigh, he lightly touch Xavier arm.
“We are here” he said as Xavier finally gave him his attention.
“Can I have my schedule” he ask and immediately, James began to read it out.
“I said that can I have it, I didn’t tell you to read it for me”.
“Am sorry sir” James apologise giving him the sheet.
“The interview for a new secretary is happening today, right?” Xavier ask.
“It is boss” and I will be free from you and being your secretary….James thought this within.
“Let’s get on with it then. Hope the stairs is free, I don’t want to run into anyone” Xavier said as they walk into the company.
“It’s just like you always want it” James said leading the way up the stairs while walking past the elevator.
On the other hand, Sally was on the third floor when the elevator broke down, luckily for her and some others.
They were help out of the broken elevator, not wanting to be late, she decided to use the stairs.
She had just taken a few steps when her heels fell off, cursing softly, she made way back to it only to stop when she saw two men at the end of the stairs.
One was holding her shoe while the other was staring at her with anger.
“Didn’t you know that you are not suppose to use the stairs during this time of the day!” James yell at her.
“Am sorry, I just thought that….” Sally words trail off when she saw the man from the photo booth.
“You!” She cried out while Xavier kept starring at her, holding onto her shoe.
“Why are you here and….arrgh!” A cry left her lips when she slip and find herself falling headlong but before she could touch the floor, someone arms came around her, holding her still.
For a while, the both of them stared at each other and at that moment, Xavier remembered something someone said to him.
“Red, a lady in red is about to come into his life and she’s definitely going to turn it around”.
Xavier eyes stray down to Sally gown and it turn out to be red. He also remembered something the palm reader had told them when they were leaving.
“It’s going to happen in a week time. Your lady in red will come to you in a week time”.

CHAPTER 3 & 4 : Xavier’s Mystery Begins to Unfold

“Get off of him, get off” James said, pushing Sally out of Xavier arms.
“Take it easy, dude. I don’t plan to do anything and he was the one holding me” Sally return, starring at both men.
“Which you certainly like” James said.
“Not you too. When I met this guy a week ago, he thought I was into him or something and now, you also think am into him. Sorry to disappoint you but he’s not my type” Sally said, taking her shoe from Xavier.
“Did you just refer to him as this guy? How dare you?” James half yell.
“Common! Am just saying my mind, right to freedom of speech, remember! If you will excuse me, have got an interview to be” she said waving at the two men before going up stairs.
“Okay,that was rude. Seems like she’s one of the thirty people requesting to be your secretary, we can get her to….oh my God! You just smile” James said, feeling startle since he has never seen Xavier smile.
“I didn’t and there’s no need to remove her. She came for an interview and so,we let her have it” he said and continue his journey while James followe.
★ HOW IS IT GOING? DID YOU GET THE JOB?★ May message pop into Sally’s phone and when she was about to answer.
A lady showed up, asking her to go into the interview room.
Smoothing the crease off her dress, Sally took a deep breath and went into the interview room.
A lady in her mid fourties and a man in his mid fifties sat at a table, motioning her to take a seat in front of them.
They ask the question she knew will come out and she answered as smoothly as she can.
Judging by the smiling face of the judges, she knew she was nailing the interview but then the guy from earlier decided to show up, ruining everything.
“Why are you here?” Sally found herself asking, starring at Xavier who took a seat beside the judges.
“What do you think?” Xavier ask in return.
“If he’s going to be one of the judges then he’s definitely going to fail me. Can you please not let him do that” Sally said to the other judges and they stare at each other before starring at her again.
“But he has the final say” the female judge said.
“How’s that, I thought Mr Landon will be the one having the last say” Sally counter.
“He is” The male Judge said.
“Then why is a total stranger having the last say?” Sally said pointing at Xavier.
“I think you’ve made a mistake, sweetheart. The man seated here is none other than Mr Landon” The lady said and that got Sally starring at her.
“You mean….I…he…are you sure?” Sally ask as Xavier got out of his seat.
He walk towards her, standing in front of her then he gave her his card.
“Turns out am really Xavier Landon, Surprise?” Landon ask as she read the card.
Realizing her mistake and feeling very embarrass, she ran out of the room.
“Mr Landon, if you want we can take care of the rest while you…”.
“Just carry on. Afterall you are picking my secretary, have got to be here” he said as the meeting carried on.
A while later, Xavier got back to his office followed by a worried James.
“Is she really the one you pick?” James ask, starring at his laptop which has someone picture in it.
“She’s my choice”.
“But there are other candidates for you to pick, why pick her?”
“Cause she’s different. For the first time ever, I meet someone who doesn’t like me even after knowing who I am” Xavier said.
“I don’t get? Aren’t you meant to be happy with the ones fawning over you rather than someone who hates you” James contradict.
“I certainly detest the one who fawn over me. If you are one of them, I suggest you stop and also it’s refreshing to have someone like that around”.
“But….”.
“Why are there but’s in your words. You are meant to be happy since you will stop being my secretary or you want to keep being my secretary?” Xavier ask.
“No! Of course not, I love your choice. I will send her a message” James said dashing out of his office.
● SALLY’S APARTMENT ●
May kept pacing around the living room, waiting for Sally to return.
As soon as the door open, May was beside her, bombarding her with questions.
“So how did it go? Did you get the job?” May ask.
“Give me a sec, I need to sit” Sally said, sitting on the chair.
“What’s wrong? You didn’t get the job?”May ask and Sally’s answer is to give her phone to May.
“What is….oh my Gawd! You got the job, you are officially Xavier secretary!” May scream in excitement.
“Exactly that! Why will he give me the job when our first and second meeting was bad”
“What? What meeting? Have you and Xavier met before today?” May ask and Sally explain the whole thing to her.
“Even after the two meeting, he still gave you the job” May said when she finish her explanation.
“Which is why am worried. What if he plans on doing something to me? What if he tries to punish me for everything I did and said In the past?”
“I doubt that. Xavier Landon doesn’t strike me as that kind of person. Look all you need to do is to concentrate on getting his work done and finding some clues that will help me for my exclusive” May said.
“I know that already” Sally said and May gave her a hug.
“I knew you could do it, thanks bestie, this means a lot to me” May said as she pull away.
“I know and I promise to help you as much as I can. Did you know that Xavier Landon is quite handsome” Sally suddenly said.
“Oh, I don’t. Have hardly seen a good picture of him”.
“Well he is handsome, very handsome” Sally said having a dreamy look on her and that got May getting up.
“I think there’s one thing you have to keep in mind, Sally” May began.
“You are allowed to flirt with Xavier, lead him on, lie to him, whatever. Just don’t go falling in love with him” May said.
“I know that already, I can’t possibly fall for….”
“I know you can’t but don’t go falling in love with him, I mean it, I don’t want you falling for him ” May said looking very serious…..
CHAPTER 5 & 6 : May’s Warnings – Don’t Fall for the Billionaire
● LANDON REAL ESTATE ●
It was Sally’s first day of work and she arrive early, was shown to her desk by the receptionist.
She was setting her desk when James showed up.
“I see you are here early” he said, giving her a nonchalant look.
“I have to, wouldn’t want to look bad on the first day” Sally reply, forcing a smile on her face.
“Really? That’s so good of you”.
“What exactly is your problem? Did I do something wrong to you?” Sally ask.
“You didn’t do anything, I just think you are up to something. I was so sure you weren’t gonna get the job yesterday but somehow, he chose you which makes me suspicious of you and so, you better watch it, my eyes will be on you” James said and left.
Sally shook her head gently just as a girl came in with four to five files in hand.
“Hello, am Claire. I was told by James to come fill you in on what to know about the boss” Claire said, smiling at her.
Sally knew then and there that she and Claire will get along just fine.
Claire use an hour with her, telling her the things to know and soon as Claire went back to her department, Xavier showed up.
He was on the phone as he walk by her desk, he didn’t even acknowledge her or his greeting which got her going to his office.
He must not have noticed her….she thought as she knock on the door and walk in.
“Good mor….” He put his hand out, signifying to her to keep shut.
She decided to wait for him to finish talking but then he look her way and wave at her to leave.
“That was rude” Sally mutter as she return to her desk.
The day went on smoothly and she did all her part not wanting him to complain.
She was typing a memo when two men came in and Xavier got out of his office to welcome them himself…shouldn’t that be her work? She thought as she decided to make them some coffee.
A while later and with three cups of coffee on a tray, Sally went into his office, apologizing for intruding.
“I thought you might need something to warm up with while….”.
“Tell me, Sally. Is doing what I didn’t ask of you your job description?” Xavier ask, his face on the papers spread out in front of him.
“Well I thought….”
“You thought wrong. Now take your coffee and get out” he ordered which got her marching.
An hour went by before the meeting ended, he escorted the gentlemen out and called Sally, telling her to bring in her book and pen.
As soon as she got in, he began dictating for her, she was in the middle of writing something when he move towards her checking out what she’s written.
“What are you writing?”
“What you instructed me to…”.
“Wrong. When I dictate, I want it to be short and precise not something cheesy like this. Start again” he said.
Sally tore the sheet she was writing on before and started all over.
During lunch time, Sally had decided to buy him something since he didn’t leave his office for Lunch.
It’s all part of her plan to get close to him….Sally thought as she held the bag which contain his food.
She knock on the door and went in, walking towards his desk.
“What’s that?” He ask when she put it on his desk.
“Food. I notice you don’t have time to go out for lunch and so I picked up something for you on the way” Sally said, smiling at him.
“Yeah, thanks but take it back. I don’t eat food bought by someone else” he said not bothering to look at her.
A angry Sally pick up the food, prepared to leave when she change her mind and turn back to him.
“You do know that you’ve been acting like a jerk all day?” She ask,not caring if he’s her boss.
“I know you are angry at me for not recognizing you as the great Xavier Landon but that doesn’t give you the right to belittle me. If being a jerk is the way you act then it’s best I leave” she burst out and turn on her heels.
She had almost gotten to the door when she heard him say.
“This is the you have been looking for all day”.
“I beg your pardon?” Sally turn, giving him a confuse look.
“Do you know why I hire you? It’s because you hate me and am a point in my life where I would rather have someone who hate my guts around me than having someone who fawn all over me” he explain.
“Earlier today, I was expecting the cold and hateful you but then you turn to jelly trying to butter me up which I don’t like” he added.
“So you want me to show my real feelings which is hating you?” Sally ask.
“I’d rather have that than you acting all cute and friendly when I know it’s the last thing you want. When it comes to work, you do whatever I want and after that, we both stay in our lanes, agree?” He ask and that got her nodding.
“Agree. You’ve no idea how stupid I felt trying to suck up to you but since you want me to just be myself then I will, boss” Sally said, giving him a smile.
“Fine then. If I need you, I will call you…for work” he added the last part and she nodded once more before leaving.
She had gotten back to her seat when she admonish herself.
Yes, she hates Xavier Landon but if she hates him, how will she get close to him and help May get her exclusive.
She should have thought things through before agreeing to his terms.
Sally was still thinking of what to do when Xavier came out of his office.
“Get your things, we are going out” he said using the stairs and she quickly followed wondering why he often use the stairs when there’s the lift is working perfectly.
They were in the car when she decided to ask him where they were going.

They were led to the hotel restaurant where a private room has been book for them.
“Xavier Landon” Xavier said, introducing himself to the two men in the room.
Sally was too busy checking out the interior of the room until a familiar voice called out her name.
“Oh my Gawd, Sally Sawyer! What are you doing here?” The guy ask, watching her with amusement.
She should have ask for the name of the model cause if she had, she won’t have come to a place where her good for nothing Ex will be.
“Do you know my secretary?” Xavier ask and got Andrew laughing.
“You mean Sally here is your secretary? Where did all the dream of being a famous opera actress went to? I always say it, you don’t have enough ambition cause if you do then you won’t be working as a secretary” Andrew said, making fun of her.
“Stop it Drew!” His manager said and put forth his hand to Sally. ” Nice to meet you, am Greg” he said and they all took their seat.
Just like her, Andrew had been nothing, he only had the dream of becoming a model but Sally had made a mistake of giving up her chance to work with a drink company two years ago.
She had given that chance to Andrew who became famous and then dump her while saying she’s not enough for him.
Sally has done her best to stay out of Andrew’s way until today….why did she have to come?
She thought as she toyed with her food while they talk business.
They half way into their second course when Andrew began.
“You know, there was this girl who loved me madly. She loved me a lot that she gave up her spot for me”.

“And thanks to her stupidity, I ended up becoming famous”.
“Really? You must have thank her for it” Xavier said, eating his steak.
“Thank? Common dude, why should I thank her when she stupidly gave up something precious for my sake. Girls are gullible, I didn’t like her, I just wanted to use her and she was pretty useful” Andrew said, laughing.
“So who is this stupid pretty girl?” Xavier ask.
“Why don’t you guess”.
“Can it possibly be my secretary?” Xavier ask, starring at Sally who had been quiet ever since Andrew began his speech.
“Bingo!” Andrew said, laughing again.
Sally couldn’t take it anymore and so she excuse herself and left the room.
A while later, Sally was waiting by the hotel pool when Andrew came up to her.
“What’s up, pretty?” He said and she chose to ignore him.
“Common, I was just relieving the past”.
“You know you are a jerk for saying that In front of my boss and your manager. You think you disgrace me by saying all that? Then you are the foolish one cause you only made yourself look like a complete loser”.
“Am glad to know that you still remember that I change your life and without me, you would have been nothing” Sally added, walking past him but he took hold of her hand.
“You bitch! What the f**k did you just call me?” He said, pushing her towards the edge of the pool still holding her hand.
“Let go of me, Andrew” Sally said trying to pull free.
“Alright, I will let go of you”.
“No, no Andrew! Don’t!” A scream left her lips when he let go of her hand and she fell into the water.
She came out, gasping for air while Andrew laugh at her.
“Who’s the loser now?” He said, making a idiot pose.
Unknown to him, Xavier was slowly walking towards him.
Sally stared in horror as Xavier gave Andrew a kick which sent him flying into the water.
“Are you okay?” He ask Sally who nodded in reply.
“Give me your hand” he said and when she put her hand in his, he pulled her out of the water.
“What the hell, Xavier!” Andrew yell out.
“I was just trying to show you who the real loser is and also….you will no longer be modelling for me” Xavier told him.
“What? But you can’t do that!”
“I just did, you are fired dude” Xavier said and turn to a dropping Sally to lift her into his arms.
“I…can walk” Sally said.
“If you don’t want to keep on looking like a loser to that loser then put your arms around me and…give him a triumphant smile” He said.
Sally was hesitant at first but she did as he said and that got Andrew feeling more pained….
