Chapter 19 & 20 : Breaking Rules
At that instance, her mind was telling her two things. Glancing at them both again before she released a hand.
Miguel stared with shock when Lisa left him, he was just staring at their back as they walk away.
” Why did you hold her when you said it yourself that she should stay away from you huh.” Tiana said to him as he look away.
” I don’t know.” He mumbled and Tiana shaked her head before walking off too.
Miguel sigh as George came up to him, like that they both walked to their class.
Alvin and Lisa almost got to Alvin’s suite when Lisa removed her hand from his.
” What… what’s wrong?” Alvin asked.
” Because I followed you doesn’t mean I really wanted to come with you.” Lisa said as Alvin chuckled lowly.
” What do you mean, you used me to avoid that guy?” Alvin said.
” I don’t know.” Lisa said turning to go but Alvin held her back.
” Do you like him?” He asked.
Lisa kept shut for a while before she answered.
” No.” Haven said that, she walked away completely.
” I know you are lying to me Monalisa.” Alvin said as he stared at her retreating figure.
Library •
Kaylee was on her seat with a book in her hand, she was so engrossed in the book failing to notice a person sitting down in front of her.
” Hey there..” the person said and finally caught her attention.
Her eyes widened instantly. It’s Kelvin.
” What are you doing here?” Kaylee whispered looking around but the students’ was already on them.
” I can sit anywhere I like.” Kelvin said.
” Why with me then?” She asked.
” Because I want to.” Kelvin said as she shaked her head.
” You see how these students are busy looking at me right, I don’t want troubles please.” Kaylee said and he chuckled.
Intentionally, he took her hand in his hand while smiling.
👥: are they together?
👥: how and when?
👥: kelvin can’t possibly be that scholarship student.
The students murmured.
” Ignore them.” Kelvin said.
” No I can’t, how can I possibly do that. Am leaving, please don’t come for me please.” Kaylee said as she packed her books leaving immediately.
Kelvin smiled as he watched her leave hurriedly. But that was interrupted when he felt a presence. It’s Rosie and her minions.
” Hi Kelvin.” Rosie said flashing him,her most beautiful smile..
” Hey.” Kelvin said as he stood up instantly leaving the library.
Rosie stumped her feet on the ground angrily.
” He just left me, I will definitely not spare Kaylee. She is drifting him away from me and I won’t allow that.” She said angrily.
Cafeteria •
Monalisa and Tiana entered the cafeteria together as all eyes turned to them especially Monalisa. They ignored them as they walked to their class.
Lisa’s eyes met with Miguel as she quickly took her eyes off. Ramona came in too.
She saw Miguel and joined him on his table which earn another whispering among the students.
” What’s she trying to do now.” Tiana said.
” Like I care.” Lisa said and rolled her eyes.
” Hey MJ, do you still have a beef towards Miguel and why didn’t you go with him the other time?” Tiana asked.
” I don’t have a beef with him and it’s what he want himself.” Lisa responded and Tiana sigh.
” Miguel, are you listening?” Ramona asked for the third time.
” What were you saying…. Am really sorry.” Miguel said.
Ramona thought about what Lisa told her.* He will regret ever promising you*. The word rang in her head.
” Do you really don’t want to avoid Monalisa.” Ramona said and Miguel looked at her.
” There’s no reason why I shouldn’t avoid her also.” Miguel said and Ramona smiled.
” Barbie isn’t with you?” He asked.
” Nah, she had something to take care of.” Ramona replied and Miguel nodded.
Lisa and Tiana kept talking and also eating but Jayden interrupted.
” Can I borrow her for a minute.” Jayden asked and Lisa nodded while Tiana shot her glare but Lisa shrugged.
They got outside and Tiana folded her arms.
” Just three minutes., start talking.” Tiana said and Jayden sigh.
” Why are you so hard to get huh, anyways I want to ask a favor from you.” Jayden said and Tiana raised a brow.
” What’s it?” She asked.
Jayden told her what he wanted and Tiana’s eyes widened.
” What! No, I can’t.” Tiana refused bluntly.
” Please Tiana. Just this once.” Jayden pleaded.
” Why me then, ask someone else.” Tiana said, Jayden decided to tease her.
” You’re right, Barbie will be able to help me.” Jayden said.
” What! Barbie?” Tiana said and Jayden shrugged.
” Of course, Barbie.” He replied.
Tiana didn’t say anything and Jayden thought she wasn’t moved. He was disappointed and turn to go but was held back.
” I will help.” She finally said and Jayden turn to her happily.
” Really, thank you so much Tiana.” Jayden said and happily hugged her.
Tiana froze instantly as Jayden quickly moved away from her.
” Am sorry okay, it wasn’t intentional.” Jayden said but no response.
” Tiana, am really sorry.” No response. Jayden sigh out.
” This Saturday, by 2pm.” Jayden said and walked into the cafeteria seeing her sudden change.
Tiana didn’t know what came over, she regain back herself but she didn’t went back into the cafeteria but to only God knows where.
Restroom •
Kaylee just finished doing her business and came out to wash her hands when Rosie and her minions came in.
She wanted to ignore them but it’s seems they were literally coming for her. On getting to her, she was pushed by Rosie and she fell flatly on the ground.
” What scenario did you think you were performing with Kelvin the other time huh?” Rosie said angrily.
” I … I..I.. don’t know what you are talking about.” Kaylee said fearfully.
” You think you are some goddess huh, you’re just a poor little being. So stop hovering around Kelvin, he is for Rosie.” Brenda, one of Rosie’s minions said.
” If you don’t listen next time, you won’t like yourself.” Her second friend, Dora said.
” So pathetic.” Rosie finally said and they walked out leaving the already crying Kaylee on the floor.
Slowly she got up and she felt some pain on her hand, she already sustain a bruise. She clean the blood off and carried her backpack leaving the restroom peacefully, as if nothing happened.
Paris ~ A mansion •
Miguel’s father sat down majestically on the chair and a man was in front of him. An investigator.
” Both him and your sister are currently in New York.” The investigator said.
” I know that already.” Miguel’s father said.
” She enrolled him into one of the most prestigious schools in New York and from the look of things they’re doing fine and comfortable with each other.” The investigator said and he nodded.
” You can leave.” He said and the investigator bowed before leaving.
A frown appeared on Miguel’s father’s face instantly.
Shopping Mall •
Miguel was shopping with his aunt, his aunt followed him this time around because the last time Miguel didn’t complete what she sent him.
” I should have written it down for you the last time.” Ms Brianna said as she picked something and dropped it in the trolley which Miguel was pushing alongside her.
” So you mean my memory is not good huh.” Miguel said and scoffed.
” You said that yourself.” Ms. Brianna said as she chuckled.
They continued shopping not until Miguel sighted Monalisa in the other row, she was struggling to get something which she couldn’t reach.
” I’ll be back aunt.” Miguel said and before Ms Brianna could talk, he already left.
Monalisa was still struggling to take what she wanted when a hand helped her and took it for her. She looked beside her and saw Miguel.
” Thanks.” She muttered and collected it.
Wanting to walk pass him but Miguel held her and draw her back, pulling her in a warm and comforting hug.
Chapter 21 & 22 : Sparks Fly
After some minutes, Miguel disengaged from the hug and looked at Lisa’s shocked expression.
” Mona.” Miguel said and Monalisa’s expression soften.
” Why …why did you hug me?” She asked and Miguel smiled confusing her the more.
” Cause I missed you.” Miguel said and smiled.
” Huh?”
” Am so sorry, I shouldn’t have promised Ramona that I’ll avoid you, am so sorry. I’ll take whatever punishment but please don’t avoid me.” Miguel said.
” Fine, I’ll make sure to punish you well.” Lisa said as she hug him again.
Miguel smiled before hugging her back. They were interrupted by someone’s cough, and they broke the hug.
” Aunt.” Miguel said and released Lisa.
” Who is this girl and why are you hugging her?” Ms Brianna said as she walked up to them.
” Ummm, she…she is…”
” Hello ma’am, am Monalisa. Miguel’s friend.” Lisa cuts in as she did a slight bow.
” Oh, Miguel’s friend. How are you dear.” Ms. Brianna said.
” Am good thanks.” Lisa responded smiling.
” Then why are stammering Miguel, are you hiding something.” Ms Brianna said.
” No, not at all. She is just…my friend.” Miguel said and looked at Lisa, who smiled at him.
” Well then, meet me outside. Bye dear.” Ms Brianna said as she wave to Lisa.
” Why are you stammering?” Lisa asked as soon as she left.
” Huh, it’s nothing really.” Miguel said and Lisa chuckled.
” Anyways, you called me Mona right?” Lisa said and Miguel scratch the back of his head.
” Really? When is that?” Miguel said faking innocence and Lisa smiled.
” You look cute doing that and by the way, I love the name Mona.. bye.” Lisa said leaving the dumbstruck Miguel alone.
” Did..did she just said, am…cute?” Miguel said to himself.
Crestwood ~ Basketball court•
Alvin, Jayden and Kelvin are together in the basketball court, practicing on their own.
There’s going to be a competition between Crestwood College and other School. Everyone already knows The Triple Diamonds always has to participate and take back the trophy as the winner.
The door flung open and Miguel walked in. They stopped practicing immediately.
” Hey, what do you think you are doing here?” Alvin asked.
” This is the basketball court, of course I can be here.” Miguel answered.
” Get out, we are practicing.” Alvin said. Jayden rolled his eyes immediately not getting why there is a big deal in Miguel’s presence.
” So funny, and who do you think you are to order me around.” Miguel said and that instance Alvin lost it.
A punch landed on Miguel’s face sending him to the ground, Ramona rushed in that instance and bent down to Miguel.
” Miguel..” Ramona called helping him up.
Slowly Miguel stand up cleaning the stain of blood on his lips.
” Why don’t we do one thing, am going to challenge you. Let’s see who will win a basketball game.” Miguel said and Alvin chuckled.
” Really? You’re challenging against Us and that’s too, you alone.” Alvin said and laughed.
” Not me alone, I and George.”
” That weak bone, you must be kidding.” Alvin said.
” Are you scared.” Alvin’s face darkened instantly.
” If you aren’t scared, then let’s meet here tomorrow with the students present.” Miguel said and walked out, Ramona rushed after him immediately.
Alvin held his fist in anger.
” Alvin, that guy is daring enough. Don’t downgrade him.” Jayden said. Alvin scoffed and started walking out the court.
Jayden and Kelvin sigh.
Ramona and Miguel got out and Ramona held his arm
” Hey, what do you think you’re doing. You’re competing against the Triple Diamonds you must be joking.” Ramona said.
” You’re competing against them?” They heard a voice and turned to see Monalisa and Tiana.
Ramona’s face darkened.
” Yes, tomorrow.” Miguel answered and Ramona was confused Miguel talked to her even Tiana.
” Then I believe in you, you can do it.” Lisa said and held his hand, smiling at him.
Miguel also smiled back shocking the hell outta Ramona as she stared them blankly and surprised.
Chapter 23 & 24 : A Moment with Ms. Brianna
” What’s going on here?” Ramona’s voice interrupted them and Miguel faced her.
” Ummm…..” Miguel stuttered for a while and Lisa look at him, expecting him not to betray him again.
” Ramona… Mona and me are friends, she’s encouraging me.” Miguel said and Lisa smiled. Tiana’s expression is undescribable.
” Mona? Miguel, I don’t get what’s going on.” Ramona said looking at Lisa.
Miguel sigh and intertwined Lisa’s hand, holding her hand tight.
” I can’t keep avoiding Mona, Ramona I tried but I realized I can’t.” Miguel stated and Ramona just couldn’t believe both her eyes and ears.
” I asked you Miguel, you should promise me only if you don’t like her and you promised me. Miguel, do you like her?” Ramona said, her voice changing.
” I can’t say, but maybe.” Miguel said and Lisa look at him giving him the ‘what!’ look.
” Ohhhh.” Ramona said, running back into the Basketball Court.
” Hey Miguel, do you really like Lisa?” Tiana said loudly and the students walking by stopped immediately with a shock expression.
👥: what! Lisa and that guy.
👥: I guess it’s no longer That Guy but Miguel.
👥: our own Lisa with Miguel?
” What do you think you’re doing, you know how fast news spread in this college right?” Lisa said.
” Oh sorry sorry. But Miguel, do you really like MJ.”
” Ummm, not really like that. We’re just friends.” Miguel answered.
” What news am I hearing around the college?” They heard a voice behind them and they turned to meet Alvin standing with his hands in his pocket, his face looking so cold.
Alvin walked straight to Lisa and Lisa sigh.
” It’s not what you think it is.” Lisa said.
” You don’t need to clarify things with him Mona, hey don’t forget tomorrow’s game.” Miguel said and Alvin glared at him.
” If I can’t have her, I won’t let you either. In fact no one will.” Alvin said and walked into the basketball court.
” Keep dreaming.”
Alvin came back to the basketball court because he forgot his bottle. He failed to notice Ramona’s presence not until he turned back to leave.
Ramona’s face was in between her knees as sounds of sobbing could be heard. Alvin hesitated a little before he walked up to her.
” Hey.” Alvin said and Ramona’s pale face came into view.
” Have you been crying.” Alvin didn’t know why he asked her. They weren’t really close like that.
” Miguel…he likes Lisa.” Ramona said and Alvin chuckled.
” And you like Miguel?” Alvin asked and Ramona nodded.
” Why don’t we join hands.” Alvin said and Ramona stared at him standing up.
” What do you mean?” Ramona said.
” Let’s join hands, you want Miguel and I want Lisa right? Alvin said and Ramona chuckled.
” And how would you ever think that I would agree to your proposal huh?” Ramona said.
” Stupid idiot.” Ramona hissed and walked out of the court.
” Really? She’s no less than a calm before a storm.” Alvin said and walked out too.
Cafeteria •
Jayden and Tiana are together in the cafeteria. Discussing about Jayden’s plan.
” Tomorrow right? Tiana said and Jayden nodded.
” It’s really not hard, I just want you to follow me to California with my family right?” Jayden said.
” Not hard? I’ll leave my studies and follow you to California, to attend the event with your family just because they forced you to come with a girl. Trust me am not going to say am your girlfriend.” Tiana said and scoffed
” You’re not going to say that, but you’re going to do as I say there cause I don’t want them to know I forced you please.” Jayden said.
Tiana was about to talk when a drink was splashed on her face making her sprang up.
” What do you think you’re doing Barbie.” Jayden half yelled.
” Because I wasn’t around for a while, you’ve made your way with Jayden.” Barbie said.
” What are you saying, how dare you do this.” Jayden said, it was clear he was angry.
” Jayden, she.. she is just a bitch, she is trying to go close to you. She…”.
” Enough!!” Jayden banged his hand on the table and Barbie flinched. All eyes already on them.
” Stay away from Tiana, if you don’t want to face my wrath. Barbie, I won’t warn you again.” Jayden said and Barbie gulp.
He took hold of Tiana’s hand and they walked out together. Barbie’s fist tightened harder as she bit her lower lip.
Next day~ Basketball court•
The match between Miguel, George and the triple diamonds will be happening today. The caoch already told them the rules.
Most of all the students are present, Monalisa is the leader of the cheerleading team for Miguel. Ramona didn’t participate today cause she’s not interested.
Soon the match started and the triple diamonds seems to have the upper hand, Miguel forced George the previous night to practice, as Miguel is good in basketball.
” Miguel, go you can do this.” Monalisa yelled and Miguel got inspired hearing her voice.
He scored a point against them as the scream increased once again. Now the score is; Miguel’s team 1 and the triple diamonds 2. The score goal score is 5.
” Yahh, you can do this Miguel.” Monalisa yelled again.
The ball is now is Jayden’s hand, as George double crossed him but Jayden kept dodging him but with skill Miguel snatch the ball, ran close the net then pass to George before they scored another goal.
The score is 3:3.
👥: Miguel! Miguel! Miguel!
Alvin became more furious, snatching the ball from George hitting it right on Miguel’s face. Miguel fell to the ground and his nose bled, Lisa quickly ran to him.
” Miguel, are you fine. What do you think you are doing Alvin.” Monalisa said as she helped Miguel up.
” Alvin, violence isn’t allowed. Keep your personal matters aside.” The coach said and Alvin rolled his eyes.
” Calm down dude.” Jayden said to Alvin.
Miguel’s head was literally spinning as he felt dizzy for a while but nevertheless he tried to stand up again, cleaning the stain of the blood away from his nose.
Ramona stared from a distance, she wished she could also go to him. How much she hated Alvin for doing that.
” Let’s continue.” Miguel said as George came to him.
” Are you sure?” George asked and he nodded.
They began the game back as Lisa went back to the cheerleading post, Lisa noticed a girl’s mood in the group, the girl was staring at another person. She traced it and saw another girl from The triple diamonds cheerleading group, they were glaring at each other.
The ball is now in Alvin’s hand as he skilfully dodge Miguel, threw the ball to Kelvin. Kelvin ran to the net and threw it to Jayden before Jayden scored a goal.
The screams erupted again as the triple diamonds cheerleading group cheer them up.
Now, the score is 3:4. Just one more goal from the triple diamonds and they win.
Another round but this time it was easy for Miguel, as he signalled to George to stay at the net. Dodging the three as he ran to the net throwing it to George, and George scored a goal easily.
” Yahh, Miguel scored.” Lisa said and Miguel chuckled. Ramona and Alvin rolled their eyes instantly.
The score is now drawn, 4:4. This is the last goal which will determine who will go for the competition. Let’s see who would win.
” I know Miguel can do this.” Ramona muttered from her seat staring at Miguel who was drinking from a bottle.
” This is the last round, endeavor to do your best. 1,2, go.” The coach said and the match started.
Everyone really anticipated for either Miguel or the triple diamonds. The ball is in Jayden’s hand bouncing it skillfully dodging George then he pass to Kelvin who ran to the net but Miguel snatch it again from him and bounce the ball closer to the net. Alvin snatch the ball from Miguel and threw to the net.
Everyone looked closely, is he going to win. It’s definitely Alvin.
As the ball was about to enter the net, George bounced it downwards and bounce two times before throwing it in the net without any hindrance.
👥: yahh Miguel won.
👥: Miguel and George, we love you two.
Everyone cheered for Miguel and George but Lisa was more louder.
” I won afterwards.” Miguel said and Alvin glared angrily at him.
” So Miguel and George, would you like to participate in the forthcoming competition then.” The coach said and George look at Miguel.
” No I don’t want to, I just want to shove it in Alvin’s face that I can do better than him. Thank you.” Miguel said and started walking off. Some girls started hovering around him asking for a picture or two.
He might get popular after this.
” How does he knows how to play so well, I must acknowledge him.” Jayden said.
Alvin angrily walk out of the court immediately.
” Won’t you congratulate me Ramona.” Miguel walked to Ramona.
” You should treat your wound., I wouldn’t help you this time” Ramona said and left.
Monalisa and Tiana came to him instantly.
” Congratulations Miguel, you really did too well.” Tiana gushed and Miguel smiled.
” Thanks.”
” Come let’s go to the infirmary.” Monalisa said as he took hold of Miguel’s hand leaving the courtroom.
Restroom •
Kaylee came to get changed, she somehow got into Miguel’s cheerleading group. She stared at her reflection and sigh.
” Quit looking at yourself, don’t you feel irritated at your ugly face.” Rosie said as she walked in
” I… what are you doing here?” Kaylee managed to ask.
” You’ve got to be kidding me, are you throwing questions at me huh. How dare you.” Rosie said as she raised her hand to slap her but someone caught it mid air.
” Don’t even try it.” Lisa’s voice came and Kaylee’s face softened a bit
” Lisa? Are you supporting this scholarship student?” Rosie said shocked by Lisa’s change of attitude. She was literally the head of bullies last semester so what changed.
” You wouldn’t want me telling you the whole thing, so pack yourself and leave instantly. And don’t you even dare go close to her again, the first and last warning am going to give you.” Lisa said daringly and Rosie gulped.
She angrily left the restroom not without glancing at Kaylee. Lisa looked back at Kaylee and recognize her to be the sad girl in the cheerleading team.
” Hey, it’s fine now. Am with you, do not hesitate to tell me if she bully you again.” Lisa said and Kaylee nodded.
” Thanks a lot.” Kaylee said and smiled.
” It’s fine, you should go.” Lisa said and she nodded.
Now, I have Kelvin and Monalisa at my back. Aren’t I lucky.* Kaylee said inwardly and smiled.
Monalisa smiled looking at Kaylee till she left, she took a deep breath and look at the mirror. Suddenly a sedated handkerchief covered her nose as she quickly lose consciousness.
