Chapter 55 & 56 : Letting Go of Old Wounds
Today is the official opening of daphne’s bakery. She invited her parents, of course….
“This is beautiful” Mrs Millie gushed over the decors.
“I’m proud of you, Daphne” Mr Miles said, and they shared a hug.
“All thanks to Paul” She gently broke the hug.
“It’s my pleasure” Paul said, and they chuckled.
“Actually mom dad, Paul and I have something to tell you” Daphne said, and Paul looked at her.
She gave a nod gesturing him to go ahead.
“Actually Daphne and I are pregnant” He informed, and her parents exchanged glances in confusion.
“Can you enlighten us more?” Mr Miles requested.
“What my husband is trying to say is that I’m pregnant” Daphne gushed.
“No, we are pregnant” Paul corrected.
“Yeah we are pregnant” She squealed excitedly, and her parents screamed in happiness.
“Congratulations son” Mr Miles hugged Paul.
“Congratulations Daphne” Mrs Millies hugged Daphne before hugging Paul and then Mr Miles hugged Daphne.
Lastly, the couples shared a tight hug.
“How’s sales at the store?” Daphne asked.
“Excellent” Mrs Millie smiled widely.
“I hope you guys aren’t too stressed out” Paul said in concern.
“How can we be stressed out when we have staffs working for us?” Mr Mile smiled.
“Thanks for everything son” She said.
“We’ll forever be grateful to you and Mrs Freya” His voice broke at the edge.
“Gosh, do you have to ruin the atmosphere?” Mrs Millie asked trying to fight back her tears.
“I’m just emotionally that’s all” He sniffles.
“I’ll go make tea for everyone” Daphne went to the kitchen and Paul followed.
“Did you have to remind him of his Granny’s déath?” Mrs Millie muttered.
“I was emotional remembering what the Gael’s have done for us. First we got a new house, our debts were paid, our store was renovated and filled with goods, we even have branches all over the city. It’s sad that she’s not here anymore” He sniffles.
“True” She muttered.
“Are you fine?” Daphne asked Paul.
“I’m fine… Completely fine” He assured, and she smiled lightly.
“That’s good to know”.
“You don’t have to worry about me any longer. I’ll heal from it some day sooner or later” He said.
“Thanks for staying strong for me… for us” She smiled caressing his cheeks.
“And thanks for staying with me. I’ll forever be grateful for that” He placed his hands on her hips, and she chuckled.
“I love you Paul”.
“I love you Daphne” They kissed shortly.
“Tea” They said in unison, and burst out in laughter.
Paul and Daphne sat on the bed.
“That’s enough Paul” Daphne said looking at the book in his hands.
“A few more” He said, and she snatched the book from him.
“150 names for a child you don’t even know the gender yet” She chuckled.
“I know it’s still early to know the baby’s gender but I don’t care” He said, and she smiled.
“How did I get so lucky?” She said staring at his eyes with endearment.
“I should be saying that” He replied, and he effortlessly placed her on his laps.
“Nah I’m the lucky one here” She said shooking her head.
“I’m the lucky one. I deflowered you, remember?” He said, and a blush crept on her cute cheeks.
“You were so bold on that day, no one would think that you were a virgin” He said rubbing her knuckles.
“Was I really that bold?” She muttered shyly.
“COME GET IT, IT’S ALL YOURS” He said, and she bit her lower lip in embarrassment.
“Stop it Paul”
“Don’t worry. I won’t tease you today” He pecked her forehead, and she giggled happily as she hugged him, tightly, enjoying each other’s warmth.
Time really flies doesn’t it?
Chapter 57 & 58 : Transforming a Marriage
Daphne’s baby bump is a bit evident now.
They came to the hospital for check up and to do everything they needed to do.
Paul was over the moon…. Why was he over the moon?
He was gonna hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time.
He brought out his phone and started recording.
“Calm down Heartbeat” She smiled, and he held her hand tightly.
“I’m trying Heartthrob” His eyes stung with tears of happiness.

“3” They counted together, and they heard the baby’s heartbeat.
“F**k!!” He screamed in excitement.
“Oh my gawd” Daphne chuckled out tears of happiness.
He hasn’t cursed since his Granny’s déath but he did today. He just couldn’t contain his happiness.
“I love how happy you look” She sniffed.
“I’m so happy right now” He smiled and pecked her forehead.
“Are you satisfied now Mr Paul?” The doctor smiled.
“Can I hear it one more time?” He requested, and she smiled.
Paul is wearing an air pod as he walked into the building. He’s been listening to his baby’s heartbeat non-stop.
- His smile.
- I have never seen him smile before.
- He looks extraordinarily handsome.
His phone dinged immediately he entered his office. It’s a message from his heartthrob.
- Still listening to our baby’s heartbeat huh?
- Yeah heartthrob
He texted back.
“Paul we have more than enough things for the baby at home” Daphne whined.
“Is it your money? C’mon let me spend my money the way I want” He replied sassily, and she smiled.
“Ok fine” She smiled.
“That’s more like it” He pecked her forehead, and she smiled before picking his cheekbones.
- Gosh I’m so jealous.

They held hands as they walked to the babies section.
“You can do it” Paul encouraged, and Daphne looked at him as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“A little more, Mrs Gael” A nurse said.
“Paul” She held his hand tightly, and he gave her a smile with his tears flooding his eyes.
“Ahhhh!!!!” She pushed with all her might.
“Almost there Mrs Gael Paul”
“Ahhhh” She pushed again.
“You did it Mrs Gael” The nurse said.
The baby started crying immediately, and they looked at each other.
“You did it” Paul pecked her sweaty forehead.
“Thanks hub-
She hasn’t completed her statement when she felt another baby coming out of her. She looked at the nurse.
“There’s another baby ma’am” She said in delight, and Paul’s eyes widened.
Twins?
“You can do it ma’am” The nurse encouraged.
“Heartthrob” Paul held her hand tightly as she pushed.
She gave birth to a boy and a girl.
“They look cute” Paul gushed.
“Just like me” Daphne bragged.
“You can’t take all the credit, can you?” He chuckled.
“We are parents now Paul. This means a whole new life and a whole new journey. I’m kinda nervous” She chuckled out tears.
“I’m with you heartthrob. You need not worry about anything” He assured, and they shared a hug.
“Gosh, you weren’t so sweet to me when I gave birth to our Daphne” Mrs Millie wiped off her tears.
“Women” Mr Miles shook his head.
The door swung open, it is Paul’s maternal family from Sweden.
“Who are they?” Mrs Millie whispered to her husband.
“Paul’s family from Sweden, I guess” He replied.
The family rushed down there immediately they got the news. They are filthy wealthy that they own a private jet so they arrived with a short time.
They all exchanged pleasantries.
“My sister in-law is now a mom. Congratulations sis” Stella said.
“What about me?” Paul said.
“Oh cuties” She gushed over the babies ignoring Paul’s question, and everyone burst out in laughter.
Chapter 59 & 60 (Finale) : The Promise of a New Beginning
The cries of the babies woke their poor parents up.
Paul paced around the room singing a lullaby for the baby in his hands while, the other was in the cradle while Daphne played with her.
“Thanks Paul” Daphne said as they finally the babies back to sleep.
“Don’t mention. I’m just fulfilling my responsibilities as a husband and as a dad” He smiled stroking her hair.
“Everything’s so perfect, a loving husband, and two beautiful kids” She smiled.
“They take after me so they have to be good-looking” He bragged.
“Don’t you think it’s too early to know who the babies take after or who they look like” She replied.
“Whatever” He said freely.
“Thanks for always helping out”
“Thanks for what?” He asked cluelessly.
“You help with the house chores, you help with the kids, you make sure that I get adequate rest all the time. I couldn’t be more grateful” She said.
“The world best dad” She pecked his lips.
“The world best mom” He pecked her.
“The world best parents” They said unison, and they kissed shortly.
“My perfectionist husband” She hyped.
“I’m not perfect” He replied.
“But you are… To me. You are all I ever prayed or wished for” She said.
“Ok fine. But I prefer the word ideal to perfectionist”.
“Ok ideal husband”.
“That’s more like it” He chuckled.
“My perfectionist-
“Stop it” They burst out in laughter, and the kids burst out in tears.
“Gawd” Daphne muttered.
“We’re not still used to having kids” Paul muttered, and there was a knock on the door.
They smiled evilly knowing who it was. They picked up the kids and opened the door.
“Thank you” They chorused as they handed the kids to Gramma and Stella. They immediately shut the door.
“Damn” Stella muttered.
Daphne smiled satisfactorily as she watched staffs coming in and out of the bakery going to deliver orders to customers.
“Ma’am, we’ve ran out of breads” A staff reported.
“Just close for the day when you guys are done with the deliveries” She said.
“Thanks ma’am” The staffs squealed happily, and walked away going to share the good news with the rest.
- Really?
- I can go on a date today..
- I’m gonna sleep like a baby.
She chuckled seeing how happy her staffs were. Her phone dinged. It is a message from Paul. - How about a date tonight?
Before she could reply he sent another one. - Do not say no this time around pleaseeeeeee.
She chuckled.
Paul is eagerly waiting for a reply, and his phone buzzed.
- Yes.
“Yes!” He giggled cutely.
They have nothing to worry about the kids are gonna stay with Gramma and Stella until they return from their date.
Daphne and Paul took the kids to the graveyard.
“We fulfilled our promise mom” Daphne smiled.
“All thanks to me though” Paul bragged.
“Such a showoff” She scoffed.
“Mom dad meet Daniel and Danielle” Paul smiled.
“Daniel and Danielle meet Mr and Mrs Gael, your Grandparents” Daphne said, and the kids chuckled like they understood what she was saying.
“What the” The couple exchanged glances.
“Granny Freya Mom’s heartbeat told us a lot about you” Danielle said.
“I wish we got the chance to meet her” Daniel added.
“Sad, isn’t it?” She looked him and the siblings shared a tight hug.
“I’m so sad. I wish we met her” Daniel said.
“Me too”
Daphne and Paul shook their heads. The kids are so melodramatic.
The kids were playing around the house and Danielle fell.
“Are you okay?” Daniel asked in concern.
“You tripped me” Danielle accused, and his eyes widened.
“When?!” He exclaimed in shock.
“I’m gonna report you to mummy’s heartbeat” Danielle threatened.
“Well, I’m gonna report you to daddy’s heartthrob” He threatened back.
“You brats. Can’t you call us mom and dad?” Paul said descending the stairs.
“Nope” She pouted cutely.
“Mrs Gael Paul calls you heartbeat” Daniel said.
“And you call her Heartthrob” Danielle added.
“Soulmate”

“Baby” The kids listed.
“What the” Daphne muttered standing by the door. She just got back from work.
“Daddy’s Heartthrob” They ran to her and hugged her tightly.
Paul shook his head. No doubt, these kids ain’t gon change.
“Heartthrob” He called walking over to her.
“Heartbeat” They shared a hug.
“You see my point?” Danielle faced Daniel.
“I see it bro” He replied.
“Bro?!” She exclaimed, and he ran upstairs.
“Just wait till I caught up with you, remember I’m your karma!” She screamed ruining after him.
“Gosh” Paul chuckled.
“These kids” She stretched lazily.
“You tired I guess” He said, and she gave a nod.
“Let me go give you a massage” He said.
“Thank you” She turned him and jumped on his back.
“You also want a piggy ride?”
“Hmmm” She gave a nod, and he smiled as they went upstairs.
“Awwn” The kids teased.
“Go to your rooms” Daphne ordered trying to hide how embarrassed she was.
“Go to your rooms” They mimicked her, and her eyes widened.
“It’s obvious you’re shy” Daniel said.
“Don’t worry about us. Go enjoy your husband” Danielle teased, and the kids did an high five.
“What?” Paul muttered in shock.
“We do hear you guys almost every-
“Danielle!” Paul screamed in shock, and the kids chuckled.
“Let’s leave the two hearts to enjoy themselves after all we’ll be going to Sweden soon. Enjoy” Daniel said.
“Gracias” Danielle winked and they went into their play room.
“Who do they take after?” Paul muttered.
“Definitely not me” Daphne muttered like a living déad.
“Me too”
“Those brats!” She screamed, and Paul chuckled as they went into the room.
