Episode 6 : Cordelia Faces Jealousy
“ well obviously this trash is ten times richer than you ” Bukky fire back without even waiting for an answer from me. Labisi and i are not very much friend we are more like enemies she always envy whatever i do since since high school till now even when i got admission before her and when i was picked to be the model instead of her well is now a model but just a model not like me i retired.
“ are you going to start the get-to-together like this? What is wrong with you labisi? Must you cause trouble everywhere? ” Aishat yelled at her and i just enter the room leaving them to settle everything. Every of our classmates were present except Daniel.
“ oh i didn’t believe Cordelia can make it like this o.that tiny girl that like gossip ” Jay said jokingly and everyone just laugh. “ it doesn’t matter so far everyone is fine and okay and no one is lacking abeg leave the multimillionaire matter jare ” Bukky said pouring herself a glass of a 10 years old whiskey she pour some for me while i just stare at the glass with a smile.
“ do you like the whiskey i choose? ” Flora asked.
“ no i just like how my face look like on the wine glass ” i said with a contended smile and every burst into a loud laughter except labisi who hissed immediately.
“ you haven’t stop this self praise? Seriously why do i feel like you’re still my classmate lia from that time ” Pelumi said and Bukky told her how i still praise myself looking at the mirror these days too.
“ hmm what so special about her? That all of you are not interested in anything but her! ” labisi growled obviously trying to hide her anger.
“ labisi you’ve started again ” flora warned.
“ I’m sure if i was picked instead of her in that damn model company that doesn’t have eyes for beauty i would have been the millionaire you will be praising right now ” she said with so much anger in her tone.
“ I’m not sure if you would been the millionaire here. Well you worked as a model why aren’t you a millionaire? Hmm? I invest my time and money in what I like doing the most i even gave you an offer to be my model but you turn it down. I started this journey of being a millionaire from just 50k can you do that? I’m not asking you to celebrate me after all I’m not the only millionaire here there’s Bukky, Lloyd, Flora and pelumi none of them are complaining so what exactly is your entire problem? Must you envy? ” i clap back at her for the first time i can’t let her get away this time she did this shit in our first get-to-together to accusing me of stealing her place as the model of that company. I just don’t understand her. Everyone here are not poor they are doing fine and well including her must she pick on me every time?
“ you thief ” she yelled.
“ enough labisi if you know you are going to keep causing trouble anytime we are having this party can you please just stay at home? And let reasonable people do their things in peace? ” Flora yelled back and everything became quiet then but she still give me that stupid stare well she should just go to hell.
“ labisi you know i can create many antifans for you? Stop shouting like a lost goat and find something else to do instead of bickering ” Bukky whispered in her ears and i think nobody heard except me.
The party was fun we got to play our old games and share our experience together increasing the fun we play Truth and dare and i found out Lloyd and Daniel actually fought because of me in school silly guys.
Oh next week is Christmas seems I’ll be alone again this years. Bukky is already on a vacation with her new boyfriend and majority of the staffs are on holidays leaving few to take care Christmas sales.
The housekeeper just clean the house and she is busy preparing my breakfast when I walk sluggishly to the dining table taking a cup of coffee.
“ oh miss you are awake ” the middle aged woman said attracting my attention.
“ the vacuum cleaner woke me up ” .
“ oh I’m sorry should i bring your breakfast? ” she asked but i told her no so she continue with her work then a text message distract me again.
“ I’m not sure if we can meet again but I’ll gladly make your Christmas blissful from Ryan” oh this lion guy again? (Forgive me the name sound like lion to me). We’re not even dating sef.
Episode 7 : A Romantic Christmas
We’re not even dating sef,just a man i just met and he is already asking me on a date. Well i will allow it because I’m lonely but wait dating an ordinary man is kinda hard what if he is just after my money not my love? Whether a Rich or a poor man i just need someone who can give me love and make me happy that’s all i want.
Ryan and his brother are together in his personal apartment, they are also free thanks to the holiday. Actually Ryan didn’t text the message earlier his naughty brother did. He just want to see Cordelia and Ryan together at all cost. According to him it will be a waste if Ryan waste all those times looking for Cordelia and they end up not dating.
“ Ryan forgive me i did something behind you ” he said attracting his brother’s attention who is obviously tired from feeding the chickens that what they do together whenever they are both free.
“ and what is it that you did? I told you not use my card again don’t you have yours? Which car did you buy this time? ” Ryan said thinking that maybe Bryan waste his money on cars like he use to do in the past.
“ not cars ”
“ then what? ”
“i asked Cordelia on a date on your behalf ” Bryan manage to say like a kid who is guilty of stealing a candy.
“ what? You did what?! Did i asked you? I don’t even have any intention to date her why do you like causing so much problems? ”
“ hmm hmm you must date her o because you are in love with her why get so angry i just helped you na ” .
“ did i asked for your help? And who told you i love her? Someone like me doesn’t know the meaning of love you know I’m a player ”
“ you can’t deceive me with that lie you know, why spend so many times looking for a way to meet a girl and you are telling me you don’t feel anything for her? Hey i can’t believe you are naive like this ”.
“ anyway you just did good. When am i meeting her? ” Ryan said happily changing the mood while his brother just shook his head he sure knew how to get Ryan.
“ Christmas day. Don’t disappoint me o ” Bryan shouted while his brother just smirked.
Days flies away quickly as it is now a day to Christmas Bryan gave his brother a horrible time giving him lectures on how to date women like Cordelia properly.
“ you know she is a fashion expert so you have to dress to impress her that you are a fan of fashion ” Bryan told his brother who doesn’t have a choice but follow his instructions here and there but it is tiring Bryan is just jumping from here to here like a village monkey.
*Ryan phone rings .
After receiving the call he told his brother he have to leave because of an urgent business.
“ i wonder if you guys are going to have enough time for each other you guys are both busy people ” Bryan said with disgust.
“ why can’t you just live like me? Work a little and enjoy your life? No because you both need to keep chasing that imaginary thing called money ” he added making Ryan to turn around.
“ and i guess my little brother can’t live without that imaginary thing called money o ” Ryan replied making Bryan to just hiss.
*Christmas day
After the church service and celebration in my hometown I return to Lagos in the evening tired and stressed out but i still need to meet Ryan today and see what he would do to make my Christmas blissful. I don’t even know what to wear oh my first date and I’m already confused like this i bet Ryan is already waiting for me at the restaurant.
After much picking and dropping i went for a red strap gown and to counter the cold tonight i pick a snow white kneel length jacket covering my gown. Its so cold tonight i can’t drive so call my driver to drop me at the restaurant.
Its a fancy restaurant that rich girls like so much but it’s so odd nobody is there tonight hmm.
I asked one of the waitress if the place is closed but she said no that she will lead me to my table what is happening here.
She lead me to a table around the VIP section where someone is already waiting for me Ryan?
I thank the waitress and she return to her normal job.
“ merry Christmas Cordelia ” Ryan said drawing a chair for me hmm what happened to the miss? I manage to mutter same to you because I’m still uncomfortable.
“ you’re wondering why this place is empty? Well i rent it for tonight so don’t be surprised ” he said like a cool gentleman i manage to sit still can’t get the entire situation. Why will he rent an expensive restaurant like this for me?
“ you look so beautiful tonight ”.
“ you look so handsome too ”.
Episode 8 : A First Kiss and New Year’s Date
The atmosphere seems awkward as we eat in silence there are many questions on my mind i mean who is this Ryan Joe? I just met? He just surprise me out of the blue. I even thought he is an ordinary but he doesn’t seems so.
“ who are you really? Mr Ryan ” i finally bring myself to ask the question that’s been bothering my mind since.
“ oh i knew you will ask. I am one of your ultimate fan intact you are my motivator. Born into a rich family i don’t even know what i want to do in the future but when I learnt about your success and the story behind it i suddenly got the passion to make money as in my own money. I got some help from my parents and i start a business dealing with everyday needs of the people before i establish my own company that manufactures my goods and now with the same hardwork you put into your work I did same and i made it just like you ” what he said sound like story telling in my ears but i got to grab what he mean. So he actually took a woman as his role model?
Well i feel great hearing that.
“ oh i see in some sense I’m your role model? ”
“ yes ”
“ but what are you doing in that area the first day we met? ” i asked and he just laughed.
“ well just like you i frequent that place to live outside my money and feel lively but i don’t need a disguise since nobody knows my name in the country ” he said and i smiled what a great person.
I can say now that my Christmas is not boring or lonely i got someone beside me at least to celebrate Christmas. Christmas date is really fun you know.
“ I have a gift for you ” he said passing a pretty box to me I’m really curious about what is inside that box but i just decide to hide it well. The date is so much fun but the problem is he didn’t ask me out he just ask for my number but I enjoy his company. We parted late at night after he drop me at my house i don’t feel like letting him go i want him to stay more but judging from my personality do you think i will say that? No o i just keep quiet like that.
Dropping the box in my dressing room i don’t want to open it now but its seems i got some visitors tonight my family.
“ where have you been? Lonely girl ” my Dad said immediately i switch the lights on.
“ Dad! ” i shouted hugging him, we saw each other today but i still miss him greatly.
“ sis we’ve been waiting for you since. Mom said you probably went to see a friend but you’re so late ” my little sister Blessing said it seems she is sleepy
“ I just had to leave for an important meeting ”
“ on Christmas? ” everyone chorused and it seems it’s not only my parent alone it seems my cousin are here also.
“ yes why can’t i work on Christmas? Besides its the first time you guys spends Christmas with me I’m always lonely every Christmas night ” i said sitting on my over comfortable sofa i got from a fan.
“ OK we just decide to keep you company this year so you won’t be alone but we are surprised to see your house empty and quiet not knowing you are working ” my mom said stressing the working part.
“ okay its like this i don’t like this game of fooling each other ” Blessing started.
“ fooling each other? ” i said confused of this current situation they are putting me in.
“ we knew you went on a date don’t lie earlier we saw your car at a restaurant near Crystal’s workplace so we kind of tell mom about it and that’s why we are here ” Jenny complete what Blessing started earlier well I’m not bothered and I’m not going to deny it first date in my life.
“ miss Christmas worker are you still going to lie? ” my mom queried.
“ no ”.
“ good who is the person? ” my dad asked.
“ you’ll meet him soon ”.
“ is he rich? ” jenny threw another one.
“ or ordinary? ” Blessing added.
“ rich plus ordinary abeg i need to rest ”.
Episode 9 : Meet Cordelia’s Family
Anna fray an actress and Ryan’s friend just came back from America, someone send a picture of Ryan and Cordelia in a restaurant on a date to her, she just hissed putting her phone aside. She has been following Ryan around for two years she knew the name that’s always on his lips every time and that is “ Cordelia Adeyanju ”. She got tired of it one day and decide to focus on her own career and ignore him. He won’t look at her anyway trying to get in his mind is persuading a pious Muslim to break his fast during Ramadan so she gave but now that she found out that he finally met her she became extremely jealous.
“ i mean what’s so great about this woman? ” Anna asked her manager who is busy surfing through the internet to find the latest photo of Cordelia.
“ who? ” he replied without raising his head.
“ that Cordelia or what’s she called! ” she hisses but her manager doesn’t know when the words started flying out of his mouth. “ well she is pretty, Rich, young, talented and humble ” he finally raise his head to meet that killer gaze and he stopped his rant and he continue what he is doing.
“ she must be so great for my Ryan to like her so much ” she said flipping through the magazines to see the new designs from cord fashion from her facial expression she like them a lot and a thought just came into her mind. If Ryan and Cordelia are really dating then its for her own benefit because she may become Cordelia’s model she is so happy about the development.
Wow the day is bright, I’m finally in a relationship I’m finally dating. The world’s most single lady is finally dating! But i wonder what girls in relationships does early in the morning. Oh Greet their lovers? Or whatever i don’t know. I manage to crawl out of my bed the house is noisy courtesy of my family. A text message came in and i sped like flash to check it immediately, it is from Ryan.
“ Good morning my angel. Thanks to you my Christmas was sweet ” .
Oh did he just call me an angel? I’m not falling in love! I’m not! I just like him.
“ sis the delivery man told me to give you this ” Jenny said handling me a bouquet wow my boyfriend is so romantic. An early morning flowers is … I don’t know what else to say.
“ your boyfriend is so romantic not like mine ” Jenny said i didn’t know she is still in the room. “ Jenny you have a boyfriend?! ” very annoyed i asked angrily. She is just twenty how can she have a boyfriend at that tender age? When i was 20 i was busy working for money.
“ of course why won’t i? I’m twenty now and I’m in final year i have a boyfriend since my first year in unilag ” she said like the carefree whimp she is while I’m getting more annoyed.
“ what?! ”
“ yeah we’ve been dating for four years now and i love him a lot it was let me say love at first sight but he is not that romantic like yours ”
“ shut that mouth how old are you that you are having boyfriends? ”
“ Lia not everyone is going to be like you. You are rich yes and it’s enough you know we have to live our lives since our sister is rich we don’t have to chase money just get married right Jenny? ” Faith my immediate younger sis butt in.
“ so you mean you guys have boyfriends while your sister is single? ” I’m about to cry really, my sisters were dating while I was single?
“ no i had boyfriends, i dated four guys and now the fifth is my fiance right now you better zoom things with your boyfriend or I’ll get married before you ” faith said showing off while i just stand there holding my flowers like an immovable statue.
“ but you and blessing are kinda the same she just got her first boyfriend like you huh ” Jenny said before leaving my room with the other witch.
I wonder what girls do with their boyfriends on new year i don’t have an idea maybe Ryan will just tag me along this time too like he usually did.
Phone rings…
“ hello angel ” hearing Ryan’s voice like that make me smile instantly.
“ oh Ryan i miss you ”
“ but we saw each other yesterday *laughs anyway do you have any plans for new year? ”
“ no ”.
“ let’s hang out at the beach ”.
“ that will be so much fun then see you tomorrow ”.
After church services i didn’t wait for my parent’s new year party i just left like that to see Ryan maybe because I’m falling in love for the first time i really can’t control my emotions.
Episode 10 : Misunderstandings and Accusations in the Relationship
The new year party on the beach is something i won’t forget easily because its the first i spent with my boyfriend not my parent this time. I even had my first kiss, I’m so shy right now just blushing around. Oh my first kiss.
Work started again in the second week of January and time to hold my fashion show and release my new brands. Ryan came too to support me. First fashion show with my boyfriend by my side oh i just don’t know how to describe this feeling inside me.
After the fashion show i go back to my workaholic mode again. I don’t even know if I’m still in a relationship again seriously. Whenever Ryan is free I’m always busy and when he is busy I’m still busy so we don’t get to see each other that much though I’ve been trying to create space for us but it is not working at all.
Everything reach its peak the day he asked me to go on a vacation in Paris with him. But i was so busy that i miss my flight. I was so angry with myself that day but there is nothing i can do. I have gotten myself used with my work that i don’t even prepare myself for situation like this. Ryan must be mad at me i know i don’t know how I’m going to face him.
He have the right to be mad its not my first time disappointing him i just hope he will forgive me this time i really can’t live without him. I called his number but he is not picking up something must be wrong somewhere. I told Bukky everything and she started staring at me with one kind eye i don’t like. “ ah Cordelia i really can’t believe you love money more than your boyfriend now you’ll now be whining in my ears at night that you love him so much you do this you do that abeg i really feel like giving you a smack right now he even prepare for you guys to go Paris and you use your stupidity to miss the flight hmmm ” Bukky said but i couldn’t get angry just looking at her like my last savior.
“ so what should i do? ” i asked and she cross her legs laughing like a witch. “Maybe the poor guy already have a sweetheart somewhere” she teased irritating me this time. “ Bukky hmm why do i feel like suddenly giving you a sack letter ” i said moving closer and touching her shoulders her expression changed immediately. “ good girl now what’s the plan? ” i asked again.
“ maybe you should surprise him at his house this weekend you know cook for him have fun together just two of you ”.
Ryan, Bryan and Anna fray sat quietly in Ryan’s vacation house. The atmosphere seems tense even more tense when Ryan suddenly stand up pacing around the house. “ calm down bro you have to be patient with her she must be too busy ” Bryan said stylishly picking a drumstick.
“ yes you designing cost a lot of time since she is your girlfriend you have to understand her ” Anna said contributing to the discussion.
“ but she said she love me why can’t she create some time for me? The first time second time third and finally this time too its like i don’t even have value in her eyes ” Ryan said with arms akimbo while Bryan just munch his drumstick in peace.
“ bro you have to remember this is her first relationship. She’s been without a boyfriend all her life and suddenly creating space in her work to date now you know how hard it must be for her so don’t force her ” Bryan said picking another one.
“ and i think she really loves you she’s been calling that phone for hours now and you are not picking up how heartbroken she must be right now ” Anna said picking her own chicken before Bryan finish everything.
*phone rings
Anna picked the phone this time hoping to speak on Ryan’s behalf but unknowingly taking a wrong step because Cordelia is a jealous type.
“ hello? ”
“ is this Ryan’s phone? ” Cordelia asked surprised to hear a girl’s voice
“ yes ”
“ can i speak with him? ”
Ryan immediately give Anna the signal that he can’t talk right now.
“ he said he can’t talk right now ”
“ alright ” Cordelia hang up politely.
Now he have the right to hang out with another lady huhn. “ Bukky a woman picked the phone ” i said to Bukky who was busy filing her nails she is not even concentrating.
“ i told you he have another side bae somewhere ”
“ you keep your mouth shut! He should just enjoy his girlfriend i am good without a boyfriend before mteew ”
