Episode 26 : A Clever Plan to Contact Charles
Few days pass, Charles could not stop Stanley and Mira from talking to each other, they were close and Mira just found Stanley as a nice and cheerful person.
Most times they will sit and chat while Mira would laugh cheerfully, that was only when Charles was not at home, ever since the night he scolded them
She made sure not to repeat the same mistake, but unknowingly to her Charles already noticed it but he just kept quite as his anger grew, he does not like their closeness, he felt like yelling at them again and again but he would only look foolish.
Sometimes he would hear Mira chatting and laughing with Stanley and he wonder why he felt so jealous, why should he feel jealous when she meant nothing to him, she is just a nanny, he kept on reminding himself.
It was June and it’s winter, Catherine and Mira stood looking through the window, they have been starring at the cloud and it seems it’s going to rain soon.
“I love winter a lot aunt Mira” Catherine said, Mira glance at her as she smiled slowly.
“That’s weird baby, almost every body likes summer”.
“Yes I love summer too but I love winter and I also love June” Catherine grinned.
Mira could see the excitement in the little child eyes and she wonder what was behind it.
“Hmmm, and I’m sure there is something behind it, right? Mira asked.
Catherine grinned wildly ” yes”.
“And what’s that?” Mira cooed.
“Daddy would be celebrating his birthday on the fifteenth of this month” Catherine said, Mira was surprised, she never knew about that
“But… Daddy never likes to celebrate his birthday, even if I try to give him a gift he he does not seems to look happy and I really don’t know why” Catherine said with full sadness in her eyes.
“Really?” Mira asked curiously while Catherine nodded.
“I guess he does not like my type of gift” Catherine said as she starred at her tiny nails.
“You mean he does not celebrate his birthday?” Mira asked.
“Yes aunt Mira, and he does not like my gift” she said again, Mira smiled as she stroke her hair gently.
“No baby, daddy love your gift” Mira said,
“No he doesn’t” Catherine opposed.
Mira smiled widely as an idea pop into her head.
“Yes he does, i guess he just want it in a bigger way” Mira said, Catherine frown slightly as she looked confused.
“Bigger way?as how?”
Mira grinned from ear to ear.
“A birthday surprise”.
Catherine paused for awhile then she smiled at Mira.
“Oh yes you’re right, a birthday surprise, daddy would love that” Catherine agreed.
“You see, may that’s what he want, maybe he want his little pumpkin should give him a little surprise, so that’s what we are going to do, we would be planning a surprise birthday party for daddy, what do you think?” Mira suggested, Catherine clasped her hands happily.
“Yeah, birthday surprise,let’s go for it” Catherine said cheerfully.
Mira smiled as she sat with Catherine on the bed as they began to plan the birthday surprise for sir Charles, she could see how happy Catherine quickly bought the idea, she just wish Charles also like the idea too.
Episode 27 : The Tension
“We would be needing balloons, daddy loves blue, we would need blue balloons” Catherine told her, Mira smiled and nodded as she added Catherine’s order to the list.
“Hmmmn what else do we need?” Catherine placed her hand under her jaw as she try to think “oh yes! Cake! we would being a cake, there can’t be a birthday party without a cake” she said.
“That’s not going to be a problem since we have Stanley to help us in baking a cake” Mira said but Catherine face turned wearily.
“Oh no! Stanley can’t bake a cake, he only knows how to prepare meals” Catherine said.
“Oh!but I guess I know the right person to bake us a cake” Catherine said as she smiled mischievously.
“Who?” Mira asked curiously.
“Aunt Katie, she’s a baker, she bakes cake and I’m really sure she’s gonna help us in baking daddy’s cake”.
Mira smiled as how sharp the little child’s brain was.
“You’re right baby, we would have have to let aunt Katie know about our little plan and I’m sure she would be glad to help” Mira said.
“Well I guess we have to visit aunt Katie’s shop tomorrow since we have just three days left to daddy’s birthday” Mira suggested while Catherine agreed with her.
The next day, they both went to Katie’s baking shop, they did not leave without a permission from Charles, they told a lie that they want to visit the library, Mira warn.
Catherine not to lie but the little girl chuckles.
“It’s a good lie after all, it’s all because of his isn’t it?” Catherine said as they both enter Katie big shop, Mira was so amazed to see how ambition Katie was, Katie smiled when she sighted them, she embraced them warmly and then lead them into her beautiful office.
“To what do I owe this surprise visit” Katie asked as they settled down.
“Aunt Mira and j are planning s birthday surprise party for daddy and we would be needing your help to bake a cake” Catherine said impatiently,
‘Really? That’s really nice, but it also my birthday too, so no birthday surprise for me too”Katie pouted her lips, Catherine giggled.
“Sorry aunty but next time but for now I really want to plan a surprise birthday for daddy, please can u help us out?” Catherine said.
“Anything for you baby” Katie said while Catherine happily hugged her, Katie turned to look at Mira for a while.
“Do you really wanna do this for Charles?” Mira nodded and smile.
“Yes Katie, I’m not just doing this for sir Charles but also for Catherine, she seems happy to plan a party for her dad” Mira said.
Katie sighed as she watched Catherine who was busy starring at a cater log then back to Mira,
“Is just that I don’t….. You know what never mind, seen Catherine is happy about it let’s just go for her happiness only” Katie said as she pulled her attention back to Catherine.
Mira felt odd with the Katie bought the idea, she seems yo be hiding something which Mira could not really figure out.
Episode 28 : Growing Affection for Mira
When they were done at Katie’s shop, they went to shop for balloons, ribbons and card at the mall, to their surprise they met Beatrice.
“Catherine met my best friend Beatrice, Beatrice here is Catherine my new friend” Mira introduced, Beatrice smiled as she looked at the pretty blonde girl.
“Hi it’s nice meeting you” Beatrice said.
“It’s nice meeting you too, aunt Mira told me a lot about you”, Catherine said.
” really? I hope she told you about the good part of me”Beatrice playfully glared at Mira. “So what are you guys doing at the mall?”
“We are here to shop for daddy’s birthday” Catherine answered.
“Birthday? Really?” Beatrice exclaimed.
“Yes,we are planning a birthday surprise party for sir Charles” Mira said.
“And we are here to buy lot of things, for the birthday, we’ve really planned it aunt Beatrice” Catherine said excitedly, Beatrice smiled.
“Well I guess I am also invited” Beatrice cooed.
“Yes yes, you’re most welcome” Catherine said.
Beatrice volunteer to shop with them , then after shopping they had lunch in an eatery, Catherine looked so overwhelmed as she joined them in lunch outing, the little girl have never done such before, this is the best nanny ever. She taught.
They arrived home at noon while Mira suggested that she hides the goods in her room, in that way sir Charles would not be able to suspect anything.
After a while Catherine felt a bit exhausted and then decided to have a nap, Mira went to have glass of juice in the kitchen, Stanley walked in
“You guys went out?” He asked.
“Yes we went out for shopping” she said smiling .
“Shopping? I thought you told the boss that you’re taking Catherine to the library” he said looking suspicious, Mira slowly smiled, it’s like she have to let Stanley know about the little plan.
Since he is going to be the cook of that day, she moved a bit closer to him and then whispers.
“Well I lied but I have my reason”.
“You lied? But why?” He asked curiously.
“Catherine and I are planning a birthday surprise for sir Charles” she whispers, she saw him gasped.
“What??”
“Is there a problem?” She asked when she saw the expression on his face changed.
“No not really, is just that sir Charles doesn’t like to celebrate his birthday” he said.
“Why? Because Catherine told me that” she asked curiously, he looked away.
“I..I I don’t know, I really don’t know why he does not celebrate his birthday” he mutter.
“But Catherine really want to celebrate his birthday, she looks about it” she said.
“The main fact is that would he like it?” He shrugged, Mira frowned.
“Okey now you’re beginning to discourage me……”.
“No I’m not discouraging you, I’m just trying to stop you from doing something wrong, you know how sir Charles behaves whenever it comes to things like this”.
“You are sounding as if there is something behind it…..” Mira said.
“I don’t know, but I’ll advice you to stop whatever plan you have against his birthday” he said then walked out of the kitchen,
Mira looked confused, she wonder what they must be hiding, first it was Katie and now Stanley, she is just confused.
Episode 29 : Emotional Turmoil
(Fifteen of June)
Catherine got dressed for school as she gave Charles a tight peck on the cheek.
“Happy birthday daddy” she told him, he smiled slightly with a slow nod then he pecked her cheek.
“Ready for school?” He asked.
“Yes daddy”.
“Alright, get into the car quickly” he said.
“Daddy, would you be home early today” Catherine asked.
“Don’t know pumpkin, why do u ask?” He asked curiously, Catherine looked at Mira behind her then back and Charles.
“Nothing just asking” she said, Charles chuckles.
“Alright stop asking or you’d get late for school” he said while he open the back seat for her, Catherine went over to Mira then pecked her on the cheek and whispers.
“Get ready for tonight”.
Mira giggled then were winked at her while Catherine also winked back at her.
“Catherine……..” Charles called her impatiently.
“I’m coming daddy” she said then ran back to him and then entered the car.
While they drove off leaving Mira to watched them.
Mira got herself busy with the balloons, ribbons and card, writing on each card ‘happy birthday day’ and ‘I love you’ she found herself smiling as she stared at on of the that was indicating ‘I love you’ ,it felt as if she was telling it directly to sir Charles.
She has come to fall in love with him and she could not really tell how it happen, was it because of his smile? stares?eyes? Oh!she really can’t tell.
Even if he was really cold and stiff towards her she still found herself falling deeply in love with him,
“I love you” she mutter, she shook her head “no it’s not right, I love you daddy” she said as indicate the word ‘daddy’. Then she remembered Stanley warning and some kind of fear crawled into her mind, should she back out?would sir Charles feel happy about this?
Is it best for her to cut off the birthday surprise? But then she began to remember the cute smile on Catherine’s face, it was not really easy to do that, it will hurt Catherine so much, not now when they have gone this far in making plans for the birthday.
Stanley promised to make dinner if though he said he was not going to part take in the party, Katie would be bringing the came soon, and Beatrice promise to come with sine gift, it was too late to back out now, she told herself.
Catherine arrived home at noon, after lunch they began to decorate the sitting room with the balloons and ribbons and boom!it was all set, at exact seven in the evening, Katie and john he husband arrived with the cake, Beatrice also came on time.
“Awwn daddy is gonna love this” Catherine exclaimed at the sight of the blue cake.
“I can’t wait to see the smile on his face when he gets back” she said, while they laughed.
Everything was set it was just left for the celebrant to arrive on time.
“He is here!” Catherine peeped through the window then glance at them excitedly.
“Quickly switch off the lights and hide” Mira whispers then they obeyed leaving Catherine to stand in the middle of the room with a rose flower in her hand .
Charles walked into the room, he stood still wondering why the light s were off, he placed his hand on the wall to locate the switch, when he found it he switch it on then he heard a shout.
“Happy birthday”.
Episode 30 : Resilience in the Face of Adversity
“Happy birthday daddy!”
He heard Catherine shouting and then some piece of ribbons fell on him, and then he saw Katie, john, Mira and a another young lady whom he does not know came out of their hiding place.
They began to sing a birthday song for him and the only thing he could do was to watch them. Mira could see the shook in him, she guess he must be feeling happy now, they ended the song while Charles just kept starring at them, he had no expression on hit face.
“Are you guys done?” He asked, everyone looked at each other in confusion.
“Who did these?” He asked quietly, there was silence for a while before Catherine spoke.
“Aunt Mira and I planned a surprise for you daddy, do you like it”Catherine said innocently, Charles looked at Mira with huge frown on his handsome face, instantly Mira knew Charles does not like the surprise, oh damn it!she had mess up again.
” you actually plan this miss Dickson?”he asked her huskily, Mira swallow hard then nodded.
“Answer me with your mouth” he yelled causing her to flinch.
“Yes…yes sir, Catherine I mean I was the one who actually brought out the idea…Catherine really wanted to give you a surprise birthday party….”
“Did I ever tell you I want to surprise birthday or gifts? Or don’t you know your place nanny?”he yelled angrily.
” but daddy,aunt Mira…. “Catherine made to say.
” go to to your room Catherine”Charles told her angrily.
“Daddy I …..”
“Now!” He shouted at her.
Catherine gasped, this was the first time he would ever raise his voice at her, tears gathered up in her eyes then fall on her cheeks, she turned to the stairs and ran up to her room.
“You’re going out of your limit miss Dickson and I hate it a lot” he said angrily,Mira power her head while tears fell down from her eyes, she felt
Really embraced,
“Charles you don’t have to yell at her like that” Katie said.
“I’m not talking to you Katie, I’m talking to my employee, so back off or better still leave” he yelled at her, he looked like a wolf ready to devour on anyone.
“I’m not leaving” Katie said stubbornly.
“Then I’ll drag you out if you don’t leave”.
“How dare …….”
John held her Katie hand immediately.
“Let’s go sweetie, let’s give them some privacy” John said, Katie does not want to obey but John pulled her along with him, Beatrice followed them then she gave Mira.
A concerning look before she exit the door.
It was now left only Charles and Mira in the sitting room, Mira felt like the ground should just open and swallow her with the way Charles was looking at her.
“I don’t know what you are trying to prove you’re so stubborn,what do you really want?I can’t just get the exact thing you need, like why do you do things that always piss me off Mira” he yelled as he pulled her by the arm bringing her so close to him, for the first time he called he by her name, she looked into his sliver eyes.
“I’m so….sorry sir….” She sobbed.
“I’m sure you must have received lots of warning before doing these, isn’t it?” He ask, Mira kept quite and it got him furious.
“Answer me!” He yelled.
“Yes sir”.
“I then you choose to be stubborn, how great,what do you really want?” He said as he tighten his hold on her, Mira felt frustrated, his hold, his angry voice, and frown were Beginning to frustrate her.
“I don’t want anything” she said looking straight into his eyes”i …all I ever want was to see Catherine looking happy, I never knew you’d get angry if I try to make you happy Sir, there nothing I ever do that seems right to you, but it’s fine….”she paused “it’s fine, if you don’t want me here anymore, I’ll resign, I’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning” she said firmly.
Charles looked shook, what!!!!
