CHAPTER 19 & 20 : A Plot Unfolds in the Shadows
•HOSPITAL•
“Is he alright?” Amelia asked, as Jaden came out of Xavier’s ward.
“The doctor said he’s out of danger already” Jaden mumbled, he said sat, on a chair and made Amelia sit next to him.
“Thank God, I thought something bad would happen, I’m glad he’s safe but who’s that man?” Amelia mumbled loudly to herself.
“Which man?” Jaden raised a brow.
“The man in the bushes, I saw him, he was trying to shot at you but…..I guess he missed” Amelia said.
Jaden stood up from his seat, taking a step to leave Amelia held his hand back and stood up, his large frame overshadowing her small one.
“Where are you going?” She asked, curiously.
“I’ll be back” He replied but she held him tighter.
“I’m tried of all these problems, please don’t go anywhere, I don’t want you to do anything that will make someone take you away from me” Amelia said and he faced her.
“Little @ss, I’ll be back, I promise ……don’t you trust me?” He asked and she nodded.
“Stay safe” She said and he kissed her hair, before walking away.
He retrieved his gun from his pocket as he walked out but before he got get into his car, Jordan rushed to him, panting.
“I heard someone got shot, I hope you’re alright? Where’s Amelia? Is she fine?” Jordan asked, breathlessly.
“She’s fine” Jaden replied and was about to get into the car but Jordan stopped him.
“Where are you going?” He asked, looking at the gun in Jaden’s hand.
“I want to take care of something, I’ll be back” He replied, curtly.
“Really Jaden? Is this what you’ve turned yourself into? Drug dealing, Killing people? Can’t you just act humanly for once….. You’re not going anywhere, let the police do their job” Jordan said and snatched the gun from Jaden.
Amelia was a bit surprised as she watched Jaden and Jordan approached her.
“Are you alright?” Jordan asked.
“I’m fine” Amelia replied.
“I thought you were going out?” Amelia asked.
Jaden sighed and looked at Jordan, Amelia nodded.
Ashlyn and Evelyn were walking back into the hospital, they had been their with Amelia and Jaden but they stepped out to set some snacks.
“Lyn….” Evelyn called.
“Yeah?”
“Dylan invited me to be his date at his birthday party tonight” Evelyn muttered as they walked into the hospital.
“Really? That’s great” Ashlyn gushed.
“No it’s not, I don’t want to go and I don’t know how to turn him down after telling him, I’ll think about it…” Evelyn sighed.
“What’s there to think about, he’s nice, handsome, and he’s definitely into you” Ashlyn said.
“But I don’t feel anything for him…” Evelyn sighed.
“It takes time Lyn, get to know him and I’m sure everything will eventually fall into place” Ashlyn said.
“I hope so” Evelyn mumbled.
As they approached Jordan, Amelia and Jaden.
They handed them the snacks and went home because their mother had called.
Ashlyn and Evelyn were on there way out of the hospital when they saw Dylan approaching them.
Evelyn quickly took another path but Dylan already saw her.
“Is she avoiding me?” Dylan asked, when he got to Ashlyn.
“Am sure she’s isn’t, maybe she has something important to do” Ashlyn smiled.
“Okay, tell her I came to see her, she should give me a call soon” Dylan said and walked away.
Evelyn came out of a corner when she saw he was gone.
“Lyn, why did you do that?” Ashlyn scolded.
“I don’t know, I just don’t wanna see him” Evelyn said and Ashlyn sighed.
“He said you should give him a call soon, let’s go” Ashlyn said as they both walked away.
“I think you both should go home, I’ve got this under control” Jordan said.
“I ain’t going anywhere, my friend is in there…” Jaden said.
“I said I’ll take care of everything here both of you go” Jordan demanded but Jaden stayed adamant.
“I said I’m not going, Amelia can go” Jaden said.
“Stop acting stubborn, do you seriously want her to go home alone?” Jordan scolded.
As they both arrived home, Jaden went into his room without giving her a second look, is he angry?
She followed him to his room and knock, she didn’t wait for his response before entering the room.
“Are you okay?” She sat next to him on the bed, stroking his hair.
“Am okay Amelia” He slightly pushed her hand away.
“Amelia?” She whispered to herself, he’s definitely angry because he never calls her by her name, but is he angry at her?
“Are you hungry?” She asked.
“I said am fine don’t you get it” He snapped and she flinched.
Not wanting to anger him the more, she stood up and left the room quietly.
It wasn’t up to two minutes, she heard a knock on her room’s door.
She opened it, she gasped as jaden suddenly hugged her.
“Are you alright?” She asked, softly.
“I’m sorry for behaving like that….” He mumbled.
“It’s fine” She hugged him back.
“I didn’t mean to snap at you, I’ve never felt more useless, my friend was shot all because of me and I can’t do anything about it….” Jaden murmured, hugging her tighter.
“I’m sure everything will be alright…” She assured with a smile.
“Should we go back to school?” Amelia asked.
“Nope, I’ve seen enough drama today, let’s just rest” He said, breaking the hug and she nodded.
“Am hungry” She pouted.
“Should we go out, like a restaurant” He suggested.
“What if that person that tried to shot you comes again” She shook her head.
“Then let me order something” He said, bringing out his phone.
He used one hand to operate his phone while he held her hand with the other one, taking her downstairs.
She was lost staring at his handsome face that she tripped on the stairs but Jaden held her hand tighter.
His other hand was still holding his phone.
“Pull me up” Amelia said, holding his hand tightly.
“Am I so handsome that you can’t stop staring? I’ll pull you up but call me something romantic” Jaden smirked.
“Are you serious right now, just pull me up” She cried.
“I want a romantic name” He said, letting her hand slip lightly.
“Okay….. Fine, baby please pull me up” She said, desperately, fearing he might let her go and she’ll fall down.
“Baby? No not that” He shooked his head.
“Honey? Sweetheart? Sugar?” She said and he finally pulled her up, she lightly hit his chest.
“Was that so hard? Call me sweet names then we’re good” He said and she frowned.
“I hate you” She tried to hit him but he ran down the stairs, she ran after him.
•EVENING•
Amelia and Jaden were watching a movie in the living room, while eating pizza and ice cream, Amelia was sitting on Jaden’s laps.
Amelia’s eyes were focused on the tv, with the pizza in her hand, taking occasional bites.
She suddenly turned away when a romantic scene came on, Jaden noticed it and let out a little chuckle.
“What’s wrong?” Jaden smirked.
“Can you change it?” Amelia said.
“Why?”
“They… that’s…. it’s not right” She shuttered.
“Fine” He turned the television off.
“Why did you turn it off, I only said you should change the station” Amelia sighed, trying to collect the remote from him.
“Jaden, let me have it….” As she was struggling with him, her pizza fell from her hand and landed on the floor.
“Look what you just did” Amelia pouted, that was the last piece and she was still feeling hungry.
“I didn’t know you eat a lot” Jaden chuckled.
“I’m still hungry…” She picked up the icecream from the table next to her and began licking it.
“Here….” She fed him and he ate it.
Jaden adjusted her in his laps and faced her properly.
“I want something to be clear…..” Jaden muttered and she faced him.
“What?” She asked, still licking the icecream.
“I get jealous a lot ……..so no one has right to touch you, to kiss you or to care for you baby, Just know I don’t wanna share you with anyone, you are mine and you will always be mine” Jaden said meaningfully and the spoon fell from Amelia’s hand.
No one has ever said anything like that to her, the intensity of his words made her heart skip several beats and her cheeks turned red.
“Jaden…..” She called softly.
“Yes baby…” He replied.
“What are we?” She asked in a whisper.
He kept quiet for a while as if finding the words to reply her.
“You don’t have to say anything right now, I’ll wait” She smiled and he leaned in kissing her.
She wrapped her hands around his neck, kissing him deeper like as if the closeness wasn’t enough, he slid his hand under her blouse and cupped her left breast, fondling it.
She moaned into his mouth, deepening the kiss leading it into a breathless one. His other hand reached for her @ss, squeezing the life out of it.
“Jaden….” She suddenly broke the kiss, it made a cute pop sound.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Someone might come inside….” She whispered, looking at the door.
“So?” He frowned.
“You don’t get it, what if they see us…..” She sighed, getting up from his laps.
“Then let’s take it to my room” He said and stood up.
“No no..” She tried to run but he caught her and threw her on his shoulders.
“Let me go, this is called kidnapping…..Jaden!!!” She yelled throwing her hands and legs in the air.
He didn’t let her go until he reached his room, he threw her on the bed.
“Ouch….” She yelped as her back hit the bed.
“I’m sorry but I’m done being patient” He said.
“What?” She shifted back on the bed till her back touched the end.
He went to his drawer and brought out a condom.
“You asked me what this was for, right?” He asked and she nodded.
He climbed the bed and whispered something into her ear, her eyes widened, she quickly got off the bed and ran out.
“Where are you going?!” He yelled, following her.
As they got downstairs, the door bell rang and Amelia went to open it.
“Mom” She smiled, shockingly.
“Amy, are you alright?” Vera said panting.
“Am fine, what’s wrong?” She asked.
“Let me come in first” Vera said.
“Oh, sorry” Amelia opened the door widely and Vera entered.
“Good afternoon ma” Jaden greeted.
“You’re Jordan’s brother right?” Vera asked and Jaden nodded.
“Wow, you’ve grown up so fine and handsome” Vera said and Jaden smiled.
“Have a seat ma” Jaden said, helping her with her bags.
“Let me get you water” Jaden said and went into the kitchen, Amelia followed him.
As he got a bottle of water out of the fridge, he closed the fridge and Amelia was standing next to it, glaring at him questionably.
“What?” He asked.
“Why are you behaving that way to my mom? You’re acting oddly nice for someone like you.” She said.
“Don’t you like it? I’m doing it for us” He replied and walked away.
“Us?” Amelia mumbled and followed him.
After Vera had her water, Jaden helped her carry her bag to the guest room, she freshened up and went straight to bed, it wasn’t easy making such an unplanned trip.
“Why is your mom here?” Jaden asked Amelia.
They were both in Amelia’s room on the bed, she was laying on top of him with her head on his chest
“I don’t know, she didn’t tell me anything” Amelia mumbled and Jaden sighed.
“Can I ask you something?” Amelia said, softly.
“Anything for you baby” Jaden replied, stroking her blonde hair.
“Why are you and professor Jordan arguing?” Amelia asked and Jaden paused for a while.
“You don’t want to tell me” Amelia mumbled, sadly.
“Fine,…. one day when I was little, me and my mom went to the supermarket…..” He said and paused for a while.
“We went shopping, after we were done, we went back home to see the greatest shock if our lives….”
“What?” Amelia asked.
“My dad was on the bed fucking a lady named Stella, my mom, Mirabel was heartbroken, she cried and threatened them that she would expose their disgusting act to everyone……” Jaden paused and Amelia looked at him.
“What happened next?” Amelia asked, curiously.
“My dad was a politician and this type of news would surely destroy his campaign, he started panicking and pleading with my mom but Stella had a different plan, she used a heavy lamp to hit my mom and her dead body fell to the ground…..” Jaden muttered, tears escaping his eyes.
Amelia looked up, she used her small, fragile hands to wipe his face and she kissed his cheek.
“You can stop if you’re not comfortable” She said, and he shook his head.
“It’s fine…..I was just a little boy then, seeing my mom’s dead body traumatized me but that wasn’t the end…….. When I tried to tell people about what my dad did, he told them I had mental issues, that I was mentally deranged, he sent me to a mental asylum for three years……” He sniffled.
“Please stop….” Amelia cried hugging him but he continued.
“After those horrible three years, I wanted to take my revenge but I couldn’t find my father, he went into hiding and since that day I go to the mansion to beat up Stella, when my brother found out he was mad, really mad……” Jaden ended.
Amelia hugged him, crying, wetting his shirt but he didn’t care, he stroked her back till she calmed down.
“It’s alright baby……” He said, kissing her hair.
“What about your dad?” Jaden asked.
“I don’t know, it was a one night stand” She said.
“Really? Did your mom tell you that?” He asked.
“Yes, she said she mistakenly got drunk and….I happened” She replied.
“So you don’t know anything about him?” He asked.
“My mom always tell me he’s a dangerous person but I don’t know anything else, not even his name” Amelia mumbled and yarned tiredly.
“He hasn’t come to look for you?” He asked.
“My mom says he hates me…” Amelia mumbled, sleepily.
“Close your eyes and sleep baby” He muttered and she fell asleep under seconds.
“Dads are jerks” Jaden mumbled and closed his eyes, drifting off to dreamland.
CHAPTER 21 & 22 : Love or Destruction?
~The same night~
As Evelyn walked into Dylan’s party, she could feel eyes following her, Ashlyn had made her wear a tightly, slightly revealing gown.
She had come alone cos Ashlyn bluntly refused to come along, she began searching around for Dylan untill she found him taking pictures with some people.
He waved at her and walked up to her with a smile.
“You look sexy…” He mouthed.
“Thanks” She mumbled, nervously.
“I’m not going to stay long, I’m busy so after cutting the cake, I’ll leave” Evelyn said.
“No problem, you can help yourself to some drinks meanwhile, I’ll be back” Dylan said and walked away.
Evelyn took a deep breath, most people here were students from her school so she’s safe, she got a glass of juice for herself and sat down.
She was just watching the people on the dance floor till she spotted someone familiar behind the crowd, she was still staring at the person to be sure of who she’s seeing when suddenly the person rose up and left.
She quickly went after the person, when she caught up she held his hand.
“Excuse me…” She said, and Jerry turned around to face her.
“Did you follow me here?” She asked, a little shocked.
“Why would I?” He asked, walking away while she followed him.
“Then if you didn’t why are you here? Did Dylan invite you?” Evelyn asked.
“No your boyfriend didn’t invite me” He mumbled still leaving.
“He’s not my boyfriend…….”.
“And I don’t care….” He cut her off, turning to face her.
“Go back into that petty party and stop following me” He mumbled and walked away.
Evelyn turned but as she took a step to walk, she hit her leg on a stone and due to the fact she was wearing heel, she had a minor sprain and she fell.
Jerry was about to get into his car when he noticed her trying to stand but she fell, he rushed to her.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, crouching down.
“My leg, it hurts” She said, wincing in pain.
“Wait ” He picked her up in his arms, making her sit in a chair nearby.
Then he left her to get something at a nearby pharmacy.
He returned with a bag, he brought out an ointment, took her leg and took off her heel then began massaging it gently.
She winced in pain and he stopped immediately.
“Stay calm” He muttered and she nodded.
He continued massaging the leg for a while, then he stopped.
“Does it still hurt that much?” He asked and she shooked her head.
“It’s better…” She said and he nodded, standing up.
“Thank you” She stood up and started limping back into the house.
“You can’t be walking around with a sprained leg, you’ll only make it worst” Jerry’s voice came from behind her and she turned.
“I’ll call Lyn to pick me up.” She said.
“I’ll take you home” He said, helping her into his car.
Dylan stood from the terrace of the building, clenching his teeth and folding his fist, he stood still till Jerry’s car drove off.
The next morning, Amelia groaned as her eyes opened slowly. Her eyes fell on Jaden that was laying next to her, he was still asleep but he looked as dashing as ever.
A smile graced her lips as she swept his floppy hair away from his face.
She gently caressed his cheeks, leaning closer to him, she inhaled his lavender scent and her smile widened.
Everything she’s doing with this bad boy is wrong but she can’t help it, she’s just attracted to him and it feels so right, he’s always there for her like her protector, she has never felt more safe with anyone before.
She touched his lips, rubbing it, she was tempted to kiss his pink lips but no, it’s not right, he’s asleep.
She rubbed his brows then trailed her hands to his chest, touching it gently.
After a while she removed her hand but was still staring at him.
“I don’t mind if you wanna touch again” Jaden’s raspy voice came and she gulped.
She thought he was asleep, Gosh this is so embarrassing!
As his eyes opened she covered her face with her palms.
Jaden chuckled, he pulled her hand away and smatched his lips on hers, her eyes widened and she broke the kiss immediately.
“I haven’t brushed……” She said.
“Do I look like I give a fuck?” He said, reconnecting their lips again.
He made her lay on the bed still keeping up with the intense kiss.
His hands explored her body but as he was about to remove her top, a knock on the door startled them and they broke the kiss immediately.
“Amy, I want to speak with you” Vera’s voice came from outside and Amelia’s eyes widened.
“Jaden hide….” She whispered and Jaden quickly came off the bed, he hid under the bed.
Amelia stood up and composed herself before opening the door.
“Good morning mom” Amelia smiled.
“Good morning dear I need to talk to you….” Vera said.
“Can it wait, I want to take my bath and get ready for school” Amelia said.
“It won’t take long…” Vera said, Amelia opened the door widely and Vera got in, sitting on the bed.
Amelia sat next to her.
“We’re going to leave soon” Vera said and Amelia’s eyes widened.
“What? Why? You said I was going to stay till I’m done with college…” Amelia said immediately.
“Something suddenly came up and we can’t stay here, we’ll be going to Los Angeles soon” Vera said.
“I don’t want to go….” Amelia shooked her head.
“It’s for your own good Amy, you won’t understand it now but I’ll explain everything to you later” Vera said.
“What happened to your neck?” Vera asked, noticing the hickeys on her neck.
“Umm…. Nothing, it’s just a mosquito bite” Amelia mumbled, nervously.
“What type of a mosquito bite is that?”
“Mom it’s nothing, I don’t want to go late for my class” Amelia said and Vera left the room.
As Amelia closed and locked the door, she turned and Jaden was already behind her.
“I’m not letting you go anywhere” Jaden said, pulling her in for a hug.
“I’m not going anywhere, I’ll talk to mom” Amelia said.
“You’ve bewitched me and I ain’t complaining little @ss, I’m not letting you go anywhere…..” He said, breaking the hug and kissed her hair.
Amelia took her bath and on getting to the living room, she met Jaden all ready for school.
She walked up to him.
“I’ve not eaten…” She said.
“I know, I’ll wait outside” He said.
“Have you eaten?” She asked.
“No, I’m not hungry”
“If you don’t eat then I won’t eat” She said, folding her arms.
“I said I’m not hungry, is it by force to eat?” He chuckled.
“Yes, let’s go” She pulled him into the kitchen.
She made two bowls of cereal, after eating he drove them to school.
As Jaden stepped out of the car with Amelia, Cherry rushed to him.
“Jay, I’m back!” She said, hugging him but he broke the hug immediately.
“Back from where?” Jaden asked.
“What? I told you I travelled to my grandparents house in Chicago…” Cherry said.
“Oh…” Jaden said.
“Did you miss me? I’ve been gone for two weeks” Cherry smiled, pecking Jaden on the cheeks.
“Miss? I didn’t even notice you were gone” Jaden said.
“What?!” Cherry frowned.
“Yeah, I’ve got to go” Jaden said, he looked around and Amelia wasn’t next to him anymore.
He sighed when he saw her walking into the school, and Kelvin was walking towards her.
Jaden quickly rushed and held Amelia’s hand.
“Let go of me!” Amelia jerked her hand away.
“What’s wrong?” Jaden asked.
“Nothing” She muttered, also walking towards Kelvin.
“Seriously? Why are you behaving like this?” He asked and she paused, facing him.
“Leave me alone, you can go back and continue kissing Cherry” She snapped.
“It wasn’t a kiss and she took me unaware, and anyways it was just a harmless peck” Jaden sighed.
“Then you won’t mind if I give Kelvin one?” She walked towards Kelvin.
“Hi” She smiled.
“Hey beautiful, you look gorgeous today” Kelvin winked.
“Thank you, you don’t look bad yourself” Amelia said.
“You could have said I look dashing….” Kelvin said dramatically and Amelia smiled.
“Can you escort me to my class, please?” Amelia asked.
“You don’t need to ask, I was gonna do it anyways” Kelvin said.
“Thanks” She mumbled and they both left for her class.
Jaden was still standing at a spot watching them leave, when Amelia turned and gave him a middle finger, sticking out her tongue.
That’s cute but right now he feels like beheading Kelvin.
Evelyn’s leg was already much better at least she wasn’t limping, she was on her way to the bathroom when someone pulled her into an empty class room.
The light was turned of everywhere was dark, no place for the sun to penetrate because all the windows were closed.
Fear gripped Evelyn as she was about to scream, someone closed her mouth and the light turned on revealing Dylan with his angry face.
She pushed him away from her.
“What’s the meaning of this madness ?!” She asked, angrily.
“What’s the meaning of what you did last night, you could have just told me you weren’t interested in the party….” Dylan replied.
“It’s not what you think, I sprained my leg and……..”
“And Jerry took you home, I know but you could have at least called, but you decided to make a fool out of me” Dylan said.
“Am sorry, it slipped my mind” She mumbled.
“It slipped your mind? I won’t make the mistake of inviting you for anything again, I’m sorry if I wasted your time yesterday” He said and was about to leave the class but Evelyn held his hand.
“I’m really sorry, can I make it up to you?” She asked.
“How?” He folded his arms.
“I’ll take you out for lunch” She smiled and he nodded.
“Are we good now?” She asked.
“It depends on how the lunch goes” He replied and walked out.
She left the class too.
The rest of the school day went normal but the only abnormal thing was that Amelia kept avoiding Jaden till the school was over.
It was time to go home and he was waiting for Amelia outside, he looked around for her but she was no where to be found so he tried calling her.
“Little @ss, where are you?” Jaden asked, over the phone.
“I’m at home” She replied.
“How? You went home on your own?” He asked.
“No, Kelvin dropped me” She replied and his eyes darkened.
He cut the call immediately, got into his car and drove home.
As soon as he got home he rushed into Amelia’s room.
Amelia was laying on her bed playing candy crush when Jaden walked in.
“Where’s your mom?” He asked, closing the door behind him.
“She went out with professor Jordan” Amelia replied.
“Good, I’ll get the chance to punish you” He said, coming closer and she stood up from the bed.
“Punish? For what?” She asked.
“For letting Kelvin touch you and for letting him drop you home” He said and pushed her on the bed.
“Are you mad?!” She yelled and stood up.
“If it was Kelvin would you shout at him?” Jaden asked.
“You’re scaring me” She muttered and Jaden chuckled.
“You like it when Kelvin touches you, right?” Jaden asked.
“What are you saying? You’re the worst, get out of my room!” She yelled in tears.
“And why are you crying?” He asked.
“How can you ask me that? You were the one who started it by letting Cherry touch you, when I told you about it you said it was a harmless peck…… You don’t mind if girls touch you but you hate it if others touch me….. How do you think I would feel?” She said, crying.
“Get out” She pushed him but he caught her and hugged her tight.
“Am sorry” He said, hugging her tighter.
“Let me go….” She sniffled.
“Crybaby” He chuckled.
“I’m really sorry, I was a jerk, a fool, a chipmunk and am very stupid I know” He said and her body relaxed on his.
“Let me make it up to you” He said, breaking the hug, he wiped her tears and kissed her forehead.
“Let’s go out” He said.
“I don’t want to go” She muttered.
“Then what do you want?” He asked.
“Cook for me” She smiled.
“I don’t know how to cook” He said.
“Well that’s your problem, I won’t forgive you unless you cook for me” She said.
“Please, release my family back” Sam cried, kneeling in front of Ben.
“Are you mad? I told you not to come here unless Jaden is killed” Ben said, angrily.
“I tried but I missed the shot and I couldn’t……”
Before he could finished Ben shot him on his arm.
“I don’t want to hear your useless excuses, if you don’t kill Jaden in the next two day, I’ll send your daughter’s head to you” Ben said.
“No please…” Sam cried as some men dragged him out.
Jaden had to use a YouTube tutorial to learn how to cook rice, after he was done preparing it he dished it out on a plate and brought it to the dinning where Amelia was waiting for him.
He placed her food in front of her and sat next to her.
“Taste it and tell me what you think” He said, watching her.
She slowly picked the spoon, looking at the food, well it looked good and smelled nice but when she tasted it, she held the urge to vomit.
“How is it?” He asked, with much interest.
“It’s nice” She gave him a thumbs up and he smiled.
“Really? Eat more” He urged her but she shooked her head.
“No am not really hungry” She showed her head.
“I stood hours cooking for you, won’t you finish it?” He asked, pushing his lips forward in a pout.
“Fine” She picked up the spoon again and ate slowly.
She looked at Jaden who had a smile on his face and continued forcing herself to eat.
This is the worst food she has ever tasted, it’s too salty and it had too much spices, God! This food could kill.
“You’re eating too slow, let me feed you” He said and took the spoon form her.
After every two spoons he fed her, she had to drink water to avoid throwing up.
He was still feeding her that they both didn’t notice when Vera and professor Jordan walked in.
“Why are you feeding her?” Vera asked and Amelia flinched.
“She hurt her arm at school” Jaden lied with ease.
“Oh, I hope you’ve gotten it treated dear?” Vera asked.
“Yes mom” Amelia replied, glaring at Jaden who had a huge smirk.
“Where did you both go?” Amelia asked, changing the topic.
“It’s not important, what are you both doing?” Jordan smiled.
“I cooked would you like to have some?” Jaden asked.
“That’s a first, I didn’t know you could cook” Jordan said.
“It’s my first time but Amelia says it’s nice” Jaden said.
“Both of you seat down, I’ll get the food” Jaden said, standing up.
Both Vera and Jordan sat down.
“Your brother is quite a gentleman, he’s nice” Vera said.
“Really?” Jordan chuckled and Vera nodded.
Amelia sat staring at them with pity at least she’s not the only one going to eat Jaden’s poison.
CHAPTER 23 & 24 : Unspoken Truths
As Jaden came back with two plates of food, he dropped one in front of Vera and the other one in front of Jordan then he gave them spoons.
“This looks nice….” Vera smiled but as soon as she placed a spoon in her mouth, her expression changed.
Jordan stood up after taking a spoon of the food.
“I just remembered I had some work, it’s important, I’ll be back…” Jordan said.
“Finished the food first…” Jaden said and Jordan hauled on his steps.
“But…..”
“No one is leaving here till they empty their plates, I can’t spend hours cooking so you could waste it…” Jaden said and Jordan sighed, sitting down.
“Have you tasted this?” Jordan asked.
“Yes I have, why are you asking?” Jaden asked, and Jordan shooked his head.
“Do you need more?” Jaden asked, facing Amelia.
“No thank you, am full” Amelia smiled.
Vera and Jordan kept forcing themselves to eat the food.
“Uhm… Jaden, I left my phone in the car, can you go get it?” Jordan asked.
“I’ll be back” He said and left.
Immediately Jordan and Vera rushed into the kitchen, they poured the food into a nylon and threw it in the trash.
When they came back, Amelia had her head on the table.
“Amy” Jordan called, and she looked up.
“Are you alright?” Jordan asked.
“Yes” Amelia smiled.
“Did you really eat that? Do you need to see a doctor?” Vera asked, worriedly.
“I’m… Fine…” Amelia replied.
“Are you both done already?” Jaden asked, as he neared them.
“Yes” Jordan replied.
“Do you still want some more, I cooked a lot…..”
“No thanks, it was very delicious but we have much work, goodnight” Vera quickly said and rushed out while Jordan followed.
“Little @ss, what’s wrong?” Jaden asked, noticing she was holding her stomach and her face had turned pale.
“Carry me…” She mumbled in a faint voice.
He picked her up in his arms and placed her on her bed when they got to his room, he sat next to her.
“You don’t look okay…. What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Nothing, just a little indigestion” She groaned, holding her stomach tightly.
He laid next to her and drew her closer to him, cuddling her.
As Evelyn stepped into the restaurant, her eye caught Dylan sitting across the room, she walked up to him and sat down.
“Sorry, I’m late” She said.
“It’s not a problem, you can make your order…” He gave her the menu, she carefully looked at eat delicacy written there until she came across what she wanted.
They both ordered for coffee and chatted while drinking.
After they were done Dylan dropped Evelyn home.
“Thanks” She smiled as she got out of his car.
“Today was really nice maybe we could try it again sometime” He said and she nodded.
“Good night” She waved as she watched his car drive away.
As she was about to enter her house she noticed someone standing at a distance, staring at her.
“Jerry…” She mumbled but he turned and started walking away, she ran after him.
“Are you alright? Why are you here?” She asked, as she caught up to him.
“Do you like him?” Jerry asked.
“Who? Dylan?” Evelyn asked.
“Go inside, it’s late” He said and walked away.
She bit her lower lip as she watched him walk away, she sighed and went into her house.
•1 AM•
Amelia suddenly stood up and rushed into the toilet.
Jaden woke up too and followed her, he watched as the threw up every single thing she ate until her stomach was completely empty.
She washed her face and came out.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” Jaden asked.
“Am fine” She muttered in a faint voice, laying on the bed.
“What’s wrong? Say something, you’re scaring me” Jaden said.
“My tummy hurts” She said, closing her eyes.
“Why?” He asked, sitting on the bed.
“The food…… It was bad” She said, tears coming out of her eyes.
“Why didn’t you say so? Why did you eat it?” He asked, worriedly.
“Because you cooked it” She replied and he sighed.
“You shouldn’t have done that” He sighed, she got on his laps and wrapped her hand around his waist tightly.
“It’s hurts….” She cried.
“Gosh what have I done?” He said, sweeping his hand through his hair in regret.
He placed her carefully on the bed then brought out his phone.
He was about to call the family doctor when he remembered he doesn’t have his number so he stood up and rushed to Jordan’s room.
He knocked loudly on the door three times before Jordan opened the door.
“Why are you here?” Jordan asked, in a hoarse voice.
“I need you to call the doctor, Amelia’s not well” Jaden said.
“What’s wrong with her?” Jordan asked.
“She said something about her stomach, just call the doctor….”
“I’ll be back” Jordan walked into his room, took is phone from the bed stand and called the doctor.
Jaden went back into the room, at this point all Amelia could do was roll on the bed and cry.
Jaden made her lay properly on the bed and stroke her hair, in less than ten minutes the doctor walked in with Jordan and Vera.
Jaden stepped away from Amelia and let the doctor treat her.
“She’ll be fine but what did she eat?” The doctor raised a brow and everyone remained quiet.
“Did someone try to poison her?” The doctor asked.
“If she’s fine you can leave now” Jaden said.
“Okay, just get these medicines for her, it’ll reduce the stomach ache” The doctor said, handing Jordan some prescriptions then he left.
“You both can go, I’ll stay with her” Vera said.
“Good night” Jordan said and walked away.
Jaden took another look at Amelia, she was already sleeping, then he reluctantly walked away.
As he walked into his room, he threw his weight on the bed.
He suddenly felt bad, all because of him she’s in pain.
But why didn’t she say the food was bad?
All through the night Jaden couldn’t get any sleep.
The next morning, as Jaden finished preparing for school he made his way to Amelia’s room, thankfully Vera wasn’t there but Amelia was still asleep.
He sat next to her on the bed and stroked her hair.
“I’m sorry” He mumbled, kissed her forehead then walked out.
When he got downstairs Vera and Jordan were preparing breakfast.
“Good morning” He greeted.
“Good morning dear, how was your night?” Vera asked.
“Good” He replied.
“Are you off to school?” Jordan asked and Jaden nodded.
“Have something to eat first” Jordan said.
“Don’t worry I’m good” Jaden replied, taking a step to leave the house but he suddenly paused as he remembered something.
“Wait, if both of you also ate the food, how come you’re fine? It didn’t affect you?” Jaden asked.
“I’m sure you’re late for school, get going dear” Vera said, smiling awkwardly.
Jaden took a good look at both of the before walking away.
•FINELY COLLEGE•
Xavier was much better so he had returned to school, he was leaning on his with his eyes on his phone when Ashlyn walked up to him.
“Hey…” She smiled.
“Yeah?” He replied, facing her.
“I wanted to ask how you’re doing” She said.
“Well, I’m fine now, thanks for asking, did you miss me?” He asked.
“In your dreams…” She rolled her eyes and walked away.
Xavier smiled, just then Jaden’s car drove in, as Jaden stepped out he walked straight to Xavier.
“Hey dude, you’re finally back” Jaden said.
“Yeah, where’s your little missy?” Xavier asked.
“Amelia? I kinda food poisoned her…” Jaden mumbled and Xavier’s eyes widened.
“You killed her?” He asked.
“She’s not dead, just unwell” Jaden sighed.
“Hey Jay” Cherry smiled, walking towards Jaden.
“Stop” Jaden said and Cherry paused.
“Stay five feets away from me at all times” Jaden said and Cherry blinked.
“You can be serious” Cherry chuckled, coming closer.
“I said five feets, are you deaf?”Jaden said coldly, walking away with Xavier.
Cherry’s lips parted as she watched them walk away.
“Mom, I’m hungry” Amelia groaned, as she walked down the stairs.
“Am in the kitchen” Vera said and Amelia came to her.
“I’m really hungry” Amelia pouted.
“I figured, Jaden said you threw up so your stomach must be empty” Vera said.
“Well, I made brown soup, with would you like some?” Vera asked and Amelia nodded.
As the lectures walked out of the class, he asked Evelyn to gather the assignments and bring it to his office.
The books were a little too heavy for Evelyn and that made her almost fall as she walked through the hallway.
“Oh my gosh…” She gasped as some of the books fell from her hand.
She bent down to pick them, as she was picking them some came over and helped her.
“Thanks” Evelyn said.
“Where are you taking them to?” Jerry asked, taking all the books from her hand.
“Mr. Jackson’s office” She replied.
After dropping the books at the office they were both leaving when Jerry suddenly stopped.
He started coming closer to her while she moved back till her back but the wall, he leaned down and Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat, is he going to kiss her?
She closed her eyes waiting for what is about to come when Jerry suddenly said,
“This was in your hair” He said, showing her a little string, she opened her eyes and blinked in confusion.
“Huh?” She mumbled, he smirked as he walked away.
As Evelyn got over the shock she ran I to the bathroom, turned on the tap so no one would hear her as she screamed embarrassingly.
What made her think he would kiss her?
Xavier was on his way to the restroom when he saw Ashlyn beating up a guy.
He stopped to watch as Ashlyn beat the guy black and blue, it was funny because the guy couldn’t even throw a punch at her, she was way too fast.
Fear suddenly gripped him because the guy was already half dead, he was barely moving but Ashlyn didn’t look like she was about to stop.
Xavier quickly rushed and held her back.
“Leave me alone…” She yelled, easily releasing herself from his grip, then she ran back to the guy, kicking him repeatedly.
Xavier held her back again but she unconsciously gave him a hard punch, he let her go as his nose began to bleed.
She gasped when she noticed what she just did, she ran to him.
“I’m so so sorry, are you alright?” She asked.
“Are you hands made of iron?” He asked, holding his bleeding nose.
“Let me take you to the clinic” She said, taking him away.
After he was treated and the bleeding stopped they both left the clinic.
“Why were you beating up the guy?” Xavier asked, curiously.
“He said I was ugly because I refused to give him my number” Ashlyn said and he chuckled.
“So you beat him up because of that?” He asked.
“Yes, he’s blind for calling me ugly” She snapped.
“He’s definitely blind, because you are very beautiful..” He said in a whisper, looking into her eyes.
“Your playboy tricks won’t work on me” She whispered back and he chuckled.
“Could I at least have your number?” He asked.
“Never” She replied and walked out.
He smiled watching her walk away.
School was finally over, as Jaden was about to get into his car, Kelvin’s voice stopped him.
“Where is Amelia?” Kelvin asked.
“That’s non of your business” Jaden replied.
“It’s just a question, I just want to know if she’s alright” Kelvin said.
Jaden ignored him and was about to enter the car but Kelvin held him.
“At least give me her number” Kelvin said and Jaden turned to face him.
“I don’t joke with her and I would advise you to do the same, stay away from her or else you’ll have me to face and trust me you won’t like it one bit” Jaden muttered, deadly and entered his car, driving away.
Jaden’s phone started ringing, he used his other hand to bring it out of his pocket while the other one was on the steering wheel.
His lips curved up into a smile as he saw Amelia’s number.
“Hello little @ss” He said.
“Where are you?” She asked.
“I’m on my way” He replied.
“Get me something on your way home” She said.
“Something like what?”
“Anything, just surprise me” She said and he smiled.
“Okay, are you much better now?” He asked.
“Yes I’m fine but……” She paused.
“But what?” He asked.
“I miss you” She whispered and he chuckled.
“Was that hard for you to say?”
“Just come back soon the house is so boring, I’ve been playing games all day and it’s tiring, I can’t even leave the house……..”
Jaden tried to stop the car in front of an ice cream shop but the breaks weren’t working.
“What the fûck” He muttered as he tried the breaks again but it wasn’t working instead it began to accelerate rapidly.
“Hello, Jaden? Can you hear me?” Amelia asked, worriedly.
“I’m fine” Jaden muttered.
The car began to drive out of control and it was too fast, his phone fell from his hand as the car drew closer and closer to a cliff.
