CHAPTER 37 & 38 : The Bond That Heals
Amelia body began to shake as she saw the angry look on her mother’s face, the glare Vera was shooting Jaden was able to kill but Jaden seemed unmoved at that moment.
“Both of you, dress up and come downstairs” Vera finally spoke up and left.
Amelia looked at Jaden, he sighed as he picked up her blouse and gave it to her then he began dressing up.
Amelia sniffled as she slowly wore her clothes, she never imagined anything like this would happen, her mother will never take this lightly.
Tears flowed down her cheeks, Jaden noticed and gently pulled her in for a hug.
“Stop crying” Jaden muttered, kissing her hair.
“Let’s go down, I promise everything will be fine” Jaden assured as he helped her off the bed.
They both gently climbed down the stairs to the living room where Vera and Jordan was standing, she must have already told Jordan about what she saw.
Vera faced Amelia with a disappointed look, if someone told her Amelia could do something like this she would never believe, she would support Amelia till the end but just look.
“Mom…I…” Amelia was cut short as Vera raised her hand to slap her but Jaden quickly came in front so he received the slap instead.
Anger surged inside Vera as she stared at Jaden.
“Stay away from my daughter!” Vera yelled, grabbing Jaden’s collar.
“Can’t you just leave her alone….” Vera gave Jaden another deafening slap, Jaden’s expressionless face remained the same as Vera kept hitting him.
“Mom stop. What are you doing?!” Amelia tried to intervene but Vera pushed her aside.
“Amelia I can’t believe you, seriously? You’ve turned yourself into a slut! I’ve warned you about Jaden but you wouldn’t listen, how long has this been going on?” Vera asked, rage overtaking her.
Amelia remained silent, her gaze fixed on Jaden, he was also staring at her.
“I’ve never been more disappointed in you, Amelia” Vera sighed, as she ruffled her hair in frustration.
“I love him….” Amelia said, slowly.
“Will you shut up?! What exactly do you know about love? You both have just been fooling around and you call this love!” Vera snapped.
“Please mom, you have to at least hear me out, I really love him and…..”
“I don’t want to hear you say anything about your stupid love” Vera cut her off, folding her fists.
“It was my fault, if you want to vent out your anger do it on me, I was the one who instigated her, she’s completely innocent” Jaden finally spoke up.
“So you’re admitting you’re the one spoiling her?” Vera chuckled.
“I warned you to stay away from my daughter but you wouldn’t listen, do you think you’re worthy of someone like her?”
Vera’s words sank deep down into Jaden, he meditated on her words for a few seconds, she’s right he’s not worthy of someone like Amelia.
“Do you want to ruin my daughter’s future? Please leave her alone” Vera said, in tears, Jaden remained quiet.
“Are you listening? Leave my daughter so she can live peacefully” Vera shook Jaden violently, holding his shoulders.
“Mom, let go of him…..” Amelia removed Vera’s hands from Jaden’s shoulders.
“I love him, I want to be with him…..” Amelia said and held Jaden’s hand but he yanked it off instantly.
“Jaden….” Amelia called, as Jaden took steps away from her.
“Your mom is right, it’s best we end this here… Let’s stop this silly things, let’s just stop” Jaden muttered and Amelia blinked.
“What are you talking about?” She asked, slowly.
“We’re wrong here, can’t you see that, it’s best if we end this….”
“What about us?” Amelia asked, trying to avoid her voice cracking.
“Us? There was never an us to begin with” Jaden said.
“What about me? What about love… The love I have for you? Will you tell me you don’t feel anything for me?!” She yelled, afraid to her the answer.
“I don’t…… I don’t feel anything for you” Jaden replied and she shook her head.
“I don’t believe you …” She muttered, breaking down in tears.
“You’re lying!!” She yelled, hitting his chest.
“Please …tell me….. you’re lying!….” She cried as her voice cracked.
“Stop it…” Jaden pushed her away and she staggered back.
“Can’t you get it, I don’t feel any single shit for you, you mean absolutely nothing to me……. I wasn’t even interested in you, I only ……..”
“Jaden stop” Jordan cut him off, sharply.
Amelia grabbed her chest, his words seemed to cause an ache in her heart, he had literally broken her heart with his words, it stung. It hurts.
Her legs felt weak and num, she landed on the floor as a light gasp escaped her lips, hot tears welled up in her eyes and she didn’t try to fight it back. They flowed down freely.
“Amelia…..” Vera and Jordan rushed to her but they stopped at her words.
“Don’t touch me…” She muttered, barely above a whisper.
With her hands wrapped tightly against her chest, she managed to stand, she took one last look at Jaden before going up the stairs, her steps were slow and she could barely walk straight as she felt another panic attack rising up.
Vera and Jordan quickly followed her but they were too late, she had already shut and locked the door.
Vera kept knocking on the door, her head filled with worry, what if Amelia suddenly get another attack, there’s no one there to help her!
“Amy, open the door!..” Vera yelled, banging hard on the door but she go no reply.
Meanwhile Jordan rushed downstairs and grabbed Jaden before he could cross the door.
“Where do you think you are going to?” Jordan asked, with a hint of anger in his voice.
“I want to clear my head” Jaden replied.
“Seriously? After what you said to her, I thought you liked her!” Jordan raised his voice.
No reply.
“Even if you didn’t, was that a way to let her down? You could have done it more rationally” Jordan scolded.
“I have somewhere to be” Jaden replied and left.
“Amelia! Open the door!” Vera yelled, hitting the door more aggressively.
“Amelia!” Vera yelled again, and she still got no response.
“She still hasn’t opened the door?” Jordan asked as he neared.
“No, she isn’t saying anything, what if something happens to her?” Vera cried.
“Step aside….” Jordan muttered, and Vera moved away. Jordan used his shoulder to hit the door repeatedly until it broke.
Amelia was laying unconscious on the floor, her faced was wet with tears and her breath rising and falling slowly.
Jordan rushed to her and picked her up in his arms, rushed to the car and drove off.
Jaden drove straight to Xavier’s house, as soon as the bike stopped, he hopped off and walked into the house.
Luckily Xavier’s parents weren’t in the living room, he walked passed and enter Xavier’s room without knocking.
Xavier was sitting on the bed with his phone, he looked up as Jaden walked in.
He noticed how red Jaden’s eyes were and a worried look washed over his features.
“What’s wrong?” Xavier asked, standing up.
“Let’s go clubbing tonight” Jaden said, huskily.
“I thought you quit that… What happened?” Xavier asked.
“It’s nothing, if you’re not interested I’ll go on my own” Jaden said and made to walk out but Xavier quickly blocked his path.
“I won’t let you go anywhere until you tell me what happened…” Xavier said.
Jaden sighed as he turned and sat on Xavier’s bed, Xavier sat next to him.
Jaden took his time to carefully explain what happened.
“Seriously? Are you mad? Why did you do that to her?!” Xavier raged.
“What did you expect me to do? Both of us can never work out, her mom hates me!” Jaden replied.
“You shouldn’t have done that” Xavier shook his head.
“Would you rather prefer I ruin her life…. I’m not good enough for her, she’s took innocent, she deserves someone better” Jaden said and Xavier sighed.
“If you feel you’re not good enough for her then change, you can become a better person, someone that deserves Amelia” Xavier said and Jaden remained quiet pondering over his words.
“She’s alright it was just a small asthmatic attack. She’s awake, you can see her” The doctor said and walked away, Vera and Jordan rushed in.
Amelia had her head lowered as she played with her fingers.
“Amy, are you okay?” Vera asked, making Amelia look up, her eyes were red and puffy from crying. Her hair was scattered like a deranged person.
“Are you okay?” Vera asked but Amelia kept mute and looked away.
“Amelia say something” Vera urged but Amelia stayed quiet, staring into thin air.
“I’ll get the doctor…” Jordan was about to leave but stopped when Amelia spoke up.
“I want to go home” She said, her voice fading by each word she uttered.
Vera nodded, but wasn’t happy at Amelia’s behavior, normally Amelia is a kind of person that would shout, cry and scatter thing when angry but her silence is disturbing.
They eventually took her home, throughout the drive she didn’t open her mouth to create a single sound, as soon as she got home, she walked into her room.
She slumped flat on the bed, staring at the white ceiling, trying to get Jaden’s words out of her head but nothing was working.
She stood and picked her phone from the bedstand, as soon as she turned it on, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes as she stared at her wallpaper…… Jaden’s picture.
She turned it off and threw the phone on the bed, she quickly wiped the tears off her eyes before they could fall.
She’s stupid for falling in love with someone that doesn’t feel anything for her, everything they had done meant nothing to him? Did he save her all those times and made her fall in love with him, just so he could break her heart?
He’s a jerk! A really big one!
~EVELYN’S ROOM~
“I need to go…..” Jerry groaned as he tried to break the hug but Evelyn held on to him tighter.
“Won’t you let me go?” Jerry asked ans Evelyn shook her head, still holding him tight.
“I’m not dying now, we’ll still see tomorrow at school” He chuckled and she finally let go of him.
“Must you go right now?” Evelyn asked.
“Yes, I’ve stayed here too long, my mother must be worried” Jerry mumbled.
“I’ll really miss you when I’m finally gone” He said, seriously.
“You’re not going anywhere, I’ll always be with you, I won’t let you go” She said and a smile spread on his thin lips.
He wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her nearer.
“You’re cute but…..” He paused.
“But what?” She asked.
“Nothing” He shook his head.
“I should get going, see you soon” He placed a kiss on her forehead and left through the window.
Ashlyn was sitting on in the dinning table with her parents, they were having dinner.
“Ash, where’s Evelyn?” Her mom asked.
“She’s probably in her room” Ashlyn replied.
“Go call her before her food gets cold” Her mom said and she stood up grudgingly.
As she was climbing up the stairs, her phone chimed, she retrieved it from her pocket and smiled lightly as she saw a text.
~Hey tigress
She definitely knows who sent it but how did that annoying guy get her number.
~How did you get my number?
She texted back, patiently waiting for his reply after some seconds, it came.
~Can we go of a date sometime? Please.
~Yeah, but you’re paying.
She replied.
~Alright, baby.
~Don’t call me that ever again.
She replied, and stuffed her phone back into her pocket, then she went to call Evelyn.
•NEXT MORNING•
Amelia walked down the stairs, dragging her feet to make movements, her body felt weak and she felt like throwing up, her temperature shooting sky-high.
“Amy, I made breakfast, come and seat” Vera said but Amelia walked passed her without a word.
“At least let me drop you off” Vera said, following Amelia but she didn’t even turn to look at her, she walked out.
“Let her be, I think she need some alone time” Jordan said crom behind and Vera nodded, walking back into the house.
The distance to the school was quiet lengthy but that didn’t seem to bother Amelia, she had walked to school and she didn’t feel anything, her body just felt num.
“Baby….” Evelyn smiled, coming nearer to Amelia but as she took a good look at her face, she gasped.
Her eyes were droopy and red, her hair seemed like a bird’s nest and she was putting on colour riot.
“Are you okay?” Evelyn asked and Amelia shook her head.
“What happened?” Evelyn asked.
“I don’t want to talk about it…”Amelia sniffled.
“Are you going to go to class looking like this?” Evelyn asked and she nodded slowly.
“Okay, let me at least arrange your hair….” Evelyn made her seat on a bench and brought out her hair brush from her bag, she gently brushed Amelia hair, straightening it out.
“Done” Evelyn said after a while as she tossed the brush back into her bag.
“Thank you” Amelia replied.
“Where’s Jaden, he normally follows you everywhere……” Before Evelyn could finish talking, Amelia stood up and walked away.
“What’s wrong with her?” Evelyn mumbled, she was about to leave when she saw Dylan coming towards her, she instantly turned towards another direction.
Ashlyn was looking for Evelyn when she saw Jerry walking passed.
“So you’ve started talking to my sister” Ashlyn stated and Jerry stopped to face her.
“I swear, if you hurt my sister or make her cry, I’ll kill you…..” Ashlyn said, I’m an intimidating voice that made Jerry chuckle.
“Don’t worry, you’re sister is in safe hands” Jerry assured with a smile.
“Do you really have to threaten everyone tigress?” Xavier asked from behind, making them turn.
“Why are you everywhere?” Ashlyn groaned, walking away.
“Is she your girlfriend?” Jerry asked.
“Yes, she’s my girlfriend!” Xavier replied, loud enough for Ashlyn to hear. she immediately turned, glaring at him.
“I’m not his girlfriend” Ashlyn said.
“Don’t mind her, she’s just too shy to admit it” Xavier winked at her, making Jerry chuckle.
“Something’s up with Amy” Evelyn said as she neared them.
“She seemed really pale and she’s barely saying anything to me” Evelyn added.
Xavier sighed and explained everything Jaden told him to them.
“Are you serious? Did he really do that?” Evelyn gasped.
“We need to find her” Ashlyn muttered and ran out, including Xavier, as Evelyn was about to follow them Jerry held her back.
“You look really pretty” He said and her cheeks glowed red.
“Thanks, we have to go…” Evelyn said and pulled Jerry away.
They all searched for her around the school, until Xavier finally found her curled up at a corner in a library. She looked worst than she did in the morning, her body was shaking slightly due to the cold.
Xavier quicky alerted the others and they rushed to her, Ashlyn and Evelyn quickly helped her up and took her to a seat.
“Are you okay?” Ashlyn asked and Amelia nodded, dryly.
“Are you sure?” Ashlyn asked.
“Can we have the sleepover tonight?” Amelia asked.
“Why?” Evelyn asked.
“I just don’t want to stay at home tonight, I hope it’s okay with you guys?” Amelia asked.
“No problem, we can go get some of your things after school” Evelyn smiled.
“You need a sweater, the weather is too cold” Ashlyn said as they took Amelia away.
Vera and Jordan were discussing in the kitchen while making lunch, Vera was telling Jordan her plans of leaving for Washington tomorrow, Jaden was behind them listening.
“Can I talk to you ma” Jaden spoke up, walking nearer to them, Vera looked at him before nodding.
“I don’t want you and Amelia to leave, she’s still a fresher and it’ll affect her studies if she leaves now” Jaden said.
“We can’t stay here…..” Vera shook her head.
“Don’t worry, I’m leaving” Jaden said.
Amelia didn’t attend any class all day, she just sat down in the library doing nothing, she didn’t feel how fast the day went by.
And now she was in Evelyn and Ashlyn’s car, they were driving her home to get somethings for the sleepover.
As they stopped the car in front of the house, Amelia came out.
“Amelia…” Vera called as she walked into the house.
“I’m staying at my friend’s house tonight” Amelia said, without waiting for Vera’s response, she walked away.
She got into her room and picked up a small bag, then she stuffed some clothes, and her inhaler into it, she closed the bag.
As she opened her door to leave, she saw a letter outside her room, she picked it up.
~Hey little @ss, I’m sorry, I’m sorry for everything I said, I know I really hurt you and I’m sorry. I hate it when anyone tries to hurt you but I was the one who hurt you…. It makes me hate myself. If you’re seeing this later now it means I’m already gone, I’m leaving the country. I realized I don’t deserve you, I won’t be able to give you a perfect live and I’m sorry for that. I’m a big coward because I wasn’t able to say this in front of you, I’m sorry once again. I LOVE
YOU~
Amelia’s bag fell from her, clenching the letter tightly, she dashed into Jaden’s room.
The closet was open and everything was gone, his clothes, shoes, books, everything!
She immediately ran downstairs, running passed her mother.
She could see Jaden’s car already leaving, and she quickly ran after it, the rain drenching her badly.
“Jaden!!…” She called running madly.
“Jaden wait!!!” She yelled as she quickened her pace.
“Please don’t leave me!…. Please!” She cried as the car moved further and further away from her.
She gasped as she stumbled on a rock and fell down, her knees began bleeding as well as her palms because of how badly it scratched the rocky ground.
“Jaden please come back….” She cried in a weak voice.
Ashlyn and Evelyn had been running after her and they finally caught up to her.
“Amy…” They called, crouching down to her.
“He left me!” She cried.
They both pulled her into a comforting hug as she cried hard.
CHAPTER 39 & 40 : In the Line of Fire
“We have to get off the rain, or you’ll catch a cold” Evelyn said as they slowly broke the hug to stare at Amelia.
Her eyes so red, her lips trembling as she stared at the direction Jaden’s car disappeared. Her body shook under the cold shower of the rain as Evelyn and Ashlyn helped her up, taking her back into the house.
Vera was standing outside, she had a worried look on her face.
“Amy, are you okay?” Vera asked, trying to dry Amelia with a towel but she quickly pushed her off.
“Amelia!” Vera gasped as she staggered backwards but she didn’t fall over because her back met with the wall.
“Are you happy?” Amelia asked, her voice broken.
“Are you happy that he finally left me? He’s gone and it’s your fault…. He left me all because of your stupid words!” Amelia cried, breaking down again.
“Amy, calm down” Vera pleaded but Amelia shook her head.
“How will I calm down? The person I love just left me and it’s all my amazing mother’s fault! Did you really have to say those words to him? How can you tell him he’s not good enough for me when he’s actually perfect for me! You want someone perfect for me? Does this look like a fairytale to you? You think a perfect prince will pop-up and come for me?……… What’s wrong with you?! What type of a mother are you?!…” Amelia yelled on top of her lungs and ran up to her room.
As soon as she got into her room, she locked the door and brought out her phone, she dialed Jaden’s number.
It rang but he didn’t answer.
“Please please….. Pick up” She muttered, as she tried the number again….. Still the same. He didn’t answer.
She sat on the floor, repeatedly trying his number, she continued for close to fifty times until she got frustrated and threw the phone at the wall.
She slowly drew her legs to herself and buried her face into them, crying.
Why would he just leave her like that? He didn’t even think about how she would feel. He just left. He’s the worst!
~TWO YEARS LATER~
The early morning sun rays shone brightly into the room, illuminating the room completely, the bright rays made Jerry’s eyes open forcefully.
Opening his eyes, he turned his head to realize he was alone on the bed, where’s she?
He threw the duvet off his body, and made his way downstairs, the aroma from the kitchen filled his nostrils as he made his way to the kitchen.
“I’ve told you to stop stressing yourself by cooking” He muttered, hugging Evelyn from behind.
“I love cooking so it’s not a problem” Evelyn replied, Jerry kissed her neck making her giggle as she turned to face him.
“You look sexy while wearing my shirt” Jerry smirked, looking at the shirt that barely covered her tights.
“Do you like it?” She asked, wrapping her hands around his neck.
“Very much” He replied in a whisper, pulling her closer to himself by her waist.
“I’m still cooking…..” She pushed him away, laughing.
“You’re a mood spoiler” He sighed.
“I know” She winked.
“Boring girlfriend…..” He muttered, going to the living room.
Jerry’s operation was a success, after he graduated from college he opened up a tech company, one of the biggest in New York.
Evelyn became a nurse at a local hospital for less privileged children, her pay wasn’t much but that didn’t bother her, she does it because she loves the feeling of helping little children, not for money.
They both started dating after Jerry’s operation was successful, he didn’t want to ask her before then because he felt like he wouldn’t make it but right now he’s healthy with the person he loves the most by his side.
“Am done” Evelyn smiled, as she brought the food to the dinning table, Jerry was already sitting, working on his laptop but when Evelyn walked in, he closed it.
She dropped the food on the table and dished it out, then she sat next to Jerry.
They were midway eating when the doorbell sounded, Evelyn dropped her spoon and opened the door.
“Good morning ma” Jerry’s maid, Hannah greeted.
“Morning…..” Evelyn replied, as she opened the door wider.
The maid walked in, she greeted Jerry and went to start her work.
Evelyn walked back into the dinning room with a gloomy face.
“What’s wrong?” Jerry asked.
“Nothing” Evelyn smiled, only God know how much she doesn’t like that maid, there’s just something off about her.
But she couldn’t tell Jerry to fire her for nothing, and besides she does most of the work in the house, Jerry is a very lazy boyfriend.
Evelyn sat down to continue her meal when her phone chimed, she took a look at it before facing Jerry.
“Uhm… I need to go” Evelyn said, standing up.
“Why? Is anything wrong?” Jerry asked.
“No, Ashlyn just texted me, my dad is about to travel for a business meeting, I have to see him before he leaves” Evelyn said and Jerry sighed.
“Do you really have to go?”
“Yes, Jerry can” Evelyn teased.
“Hey! You promised not to call me that again” Jerry snapped and she chuckled.
“Okay, cutie” She stood up and kissed his cheek.
“Are you going to stay tonight?” He asked.
“I don’t think I can” Evelyn shook her head and Jerry frowned.
“I promise, I’ll stay throughout the weekend” Evelyn said and Jerry smiled lightly.
“Okay, let me drop you off” He said, standing up but she pushed him back on the seat.
“Don’t worry, I’ll manage on my own” She smiled.
“But…..” She quickly shut him up with a kiss.
“I’m fine” She muttered as she broke the kiss.
“I’ll miss you” Jerry pouted and Evelyn smiled as she went upstairs to wear her clothes.
She soon came back downstairs and left, as soon as she left, Hannah came out.
“Are you done sir? Should I clear the table?” Hannah asked.
Jerry took a look at her, this isn’t what she was wearing when she arrived, she changed her clothes into a transparent blouse and a mini skirt.
Jerry quickly averted his gaze and stood up, walking away.
Hannah gently bit her lips as she watched him walk away.
Amelia walked down the stairs, fully dressed for school.
“Good morning” She greeted as she walked up to Jordan, who was sitting with a cup of coffee in his hand with his wife, Elizabeth sitting next to him.
“How was your night?” Jordan asked.
“It was fine, I guess” She shrugged and Jordan nodded.
“Will you have breakfast before leaving?” Elizabeth asked.
“No, I don’t want to be late….” Amelia shook her head.
Elizabeth looked at the wall clock and sighed.
“Your first class begins at nine, you have two hours before it begins” Elizabeth said, standing up.
She held Amelia’s hand, pulling her towards the kitchen.
“You’re gonna eat something and I’m not gonna take no” Elizabeth said as she made Amelia sit on the stool.
“But I’m not hungry….” Amelia groaned with a sigh.
“I don’t want to hear that thrash excuse, you didn’t eat anything last night so I’m sure you’re hungry” Elizabeth said, as she dished out food in a plate.
“How would you know? You aren’t my body” Amelia muttered, lowly but Elizabeth heard her.
“What did you just say?” Elizabeth asked, dropping the plate in front of her.
“Nothing” Amelia quickly replied.
“Good, I thought you were gonna receive a good spank before you leave” Elizabeth mumbled making Amelia chuckle.
Elizabeth excused herself and left, leaving Amelia alone with the food, she stared at it for a while.
She didn’t have an appetite right now so she stood up and disposed the food into the thrash.
Then she went into the living room, Elizabeth was discussing with Jordan.
“You’re done already?” Elizabeth raised a brow.
“Yeah, thanks” Amelia replied.
“Have a nice day” Jordan said.
“Bye….” Elizabeth waved.
“I’ll take my leave now, queen Elizabeth” Amelia curtsy, jokingly.
“Amy” Vera called coming down the stairs, Amelia walked away pretending not to hear her.
That’s how it’s been for the past two years, Amelia ignores her all the time and it hurts, it hurts a lot when your only daughter keeps Ignoring you. Sometimes she gets jealous of Elizabeth, because she’s the only one Amelia opens up to even tho it’s just a little but it’s better than being ignored.
Amelia waved down a cab and got in, after telling the driver her destination she relaxed on her seat and brought out her phone, she began to play candy crush.
“Miss we’re here” The driver alerted as he pulled up next to the school.
She got out of the car and made her way into the school, her first class was English, a three hours lecture only the thought of it made Amelia tired.
She walked into the class and sat down on her seat, bringing out her books from her bag.
“Hey Amy…” James came over to her with a bubbly smile.
James is her course mate and her only friend tho they don’t talk a lot but it’s the closest she has to a friend.
“Hi” Amelia replied, dryly.
“It wouldn’t kill you to have a smile on your face youno” James chuckled.
“Don’t disturb me this early morning, if you don’t have any reasonable thing to say then keep your ass back on your seat” Amelia said, looking pissed.
“Okay, fine, I don’t want to deal with your grumpy attitude this morning….” James smiled.
“I only came to tell you that my birthday is coming up next week, I’m having a party at home and you’re invited, ……you’ll be the guest of honour” James finished, dramatically.
“How many people are gonna be there?” She asked.
“I invited the whole school….” James replied.
“I’m not coming” She replied, curtly.
“What’s wrong with you and crowds? It’s only for my birthday, please …” James pleaded.
Before Amelia could reply the lecturer walked into the class and ordered for everyone to settle down so James had to go to his seat.
“Bye dad…” Evelyn and Ashlyn waved off their dad as they watched him walk into the airport.
“Finally, I can go prepare for my date….” Ashlyn sighed.
“You’re going on a date?” Evelyn asked.
“Yeah, I and my baby are going sightseeing” Ashlyn replied.
“It’s still a little shocking how you guys have been dating behind my back for months” Evelyn scoffed.
“I’ve apologized a million times, Xavier’s parents were going through a divorce at that time and I decided to keep it low, I couldn’t start announcing that were dating when he was hurting….” Ashlyn explained.
“Why did his parents get a divorce?” Evelyn asked, as they started making their way to the parking lot.
“They fight all the time and they decided it’s best to get a divorce” Ashlyn replied.
“Are you hearing from Amy?” Ashlyn asked and Evelyn shook her head.
“I’ve called, texted but nothing” Evelyn sighed.
“Same here, maybe we should go visit her” Ashlyn suggested.
“It’s as if when Jaden was leaving he left with her soul, she’s like a walking dead, she doesn’t even smile” Evelyn shook her head.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with her” Ashlyn sighed.
“We should get going so you won’t miss your date with your beloved” Evelyn teased as they got into the car and drove off.
~EVENING~
After Ashlyn and Xavier returned from their date, Ashlyn decided to spend the night at his house, after dinner they both went up to his room, Ashlyn was sitting on the bed while Xavier had his head on her laps.
“I can’t believe you let that idiot go…” Ashlyn sighed.
“Would you forget about it already, it’s been over hours but you’re still complaining” Xavier sighed and Ashlyn pushed his head off her laps.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have agreed to stay here” She mumbled, standing up from the bed but Xavier pulled her back.
“Don’t get angry” Xavier hugged her but she pushed him away.
“I don’t like it when someone insults you and you didn’t even let me beat him up” Ashlyn sighed.
“My tigress, you’ll have to calm down, sometimes you have to let things go, you don’t just beat anyone up because they said something offensive, everyone has his own opinion…” Xavier said and she scoffed.
“Look who’s giving word of wisdom”
“Okay, I hope you’re not still mad?” He asked and she shook her head.
“I’ll have to travel to Tokyo for a business meeting” Xavier announced and Ashlyn frowned.
“Seriously? Another business meeting, I barely get to spend time with you because you always travel” Ashlyn pouted.
“I promise this one is quick, just three days max” Xavier said and Ashlyn nodded.
“Someone called me up yesterday” Xavier stated.
“Who?”
“It was Jaden” He replied and her eyes widened.
“Jaden? Really? He called you?” She asked in a rush.
“Yeah, he said he’s coming back” Xavier said.
“When?”
“He didn’t give me a date, he just said really soon” Xavier replied.
“I hope he’ll be able to fix things with Amelia” Ashlyn sighed.
After Amelia had her last lecture, she made her way to the restaurant she works at, she needed a way to make money for herself, she didn’t want to keep depending on Jordan’s money and her mother….. She’s not even ready to talk to her talk more of asking for anything. And anyway she’s growing up, she needs to learn how to be dependant.
The restaurant wasn’t much of a distance from the school so she decided to walk.
As she took slow steps, her eyes caught a couple sitting in an ice cream shop and that sight trigged a memory she has been trying to suppress, no matter how much she tries not to think about him, it’s fruitless, his always finds a way to crawl up into her head again.
And it’s frustrating, would she be stupid to say her feeling are still intact even after two years? She doesn’t love him less even after he left her. Every night she would cry herself to sleep hoping that she would get over him the next day but it never happened.
There wasn’t a single day that passed that she wouldn’t think about him.
As she walked into the restaurant, she tried to brush her thoughts aside so she could concentrate on work, working here has been easy for her, the owner was a nice man and she already had experience, she used to help her mother at her restaurant in Washington.
“Good evening Mr. Jones” Amelia greeted.
“How was your day dear?” Jones asked.
“It was fine” Amelia replied, walking into the kitchen to get an apron then she wore it.
“You came late today” Jones said.
“Sorry, I had a late class today” Amelia replied.
“That’s not a problem, you can get to work” He said and she nodded.
After work was over she grabbed her bag, heading home. The restaurant closed late tonight so it might be difficult getting a cab home, she decided to walk till she could find one.
These streets weren’t safe but Amelia came prepared she always has her pocket knife and pepper spray in her bag in case of emergencies.
As she kept on walking she could feel a presence behind her, she gently took a deep breath and continued walking but this time she quickened her pace and so did the person behind her.
She dipped her left hand into her bag and secretly brought out her pepper spray, clenching it tightly.
She could hear the person’s steps louder and louder and she kept the person was catching up, just when she was about to turn and use her pepper spray, the person used a stick to hit her head and the pepper spray fell from her hand.
She staggered back trying to maintain her stamina, the person yanked her bag from her.
It was a man dressed in complete black with a mask covering his face. She couldn’t just let him go with her bag, her phone, money and other important items were there.
“Give me my bag!” She yelled, trying to pull the bag from him but his grip was stronger than hers.
The masked criminal suddenly brought out a gun from his pocket, and Amelia froze, she instantly let go of the bag. Her breath became fast and heavy as she felt her knees weakening.
The man laughed manically before speaking up,
“Are you with any other valuable thing?” He asked and Amelia repeatedly shook her head as she stared at the gun.
“Stand still, I’ll have to search you” He said, coming closer.
The though of letting a complete strange touch her all in the name of searching her scared the hell out of her.
She turned and instantly took to her heels hoping that the man wouldn’t shoot.
“Hey come back here …..”She could hear the man shouting while he ran after her.
“God please save me” She cried silently as she ran as fast as her short legs could, her heart beating nonstop.
She could feel the man catching up to her and she almost started crying contemplating if this is how her life would end. still running.
Her eyes were already filled with tears making it a little difficult to see in the dark.
As she wiped her tears she bumped into someone’s hard chest, an addictive lavender scent filled her enter system and for seconds she could process anything.
This scent was very familiar. She looked up to find the last person she would expect to see on earth.
“Little @ss…” His voice that became deeper came and out of shock she staggered back and fell on her butt.
Then she slowly looked up to confirm.
It’s him, it’s really him!
CHAPTER 41 & 42 : Jaden Saves the Day
Amelia rubbed her eyes then took a good look at the person in front of her, he was still there!
The best explanation must be she’s just hallucinating, she probably seeing things, maybe it’s because of how hard the masked man had hit her.
Jaden reached his hand out to help her stand but she moved back, standing up immediately.
“Are you real?” She asked almost in a whisper, instead of replying he smiled and pulled her into a hug but she immediately broke it, pushing him away.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, trying to touch her but she moved back, sniffling.
He gently took her hand and made her sit on a bench nearby, she just followed him like a lost puppy, her eyes solely focused on him.
“Wait here, I’ll get your bag” He said and ran off into the direction the masked criminal went.
He soon found the man sitting in an ally, while he checked Amelia’s bag but as soon as he saw Jaden, he left everything and ran away.
Jaden decided to let the man go, he grabbed Amelia’s bag after properly arranging her things inside, then he went back to where he left her but she wasn’t there.
Jaden got into his car and drove home.
He returned from LA today, he had gone home first but Amelia wasn’t there, they told him she would probably be at the restaurant so he went there with the help of their directions.
As soon as he got home, he took long strides to Amelia’s room, he knocked but she didn’t reply.
He tried to open the door but he realized it was locked.
“Little @ss, please open the door….” He called, knocking gently. “Please, let’s talk….” He added but she was still silent.
The only sounds he could hear was her light sobs coming from inside the room.
“I know you’re mad at me but we can sort this out, just open the door… Please” He said, hitting the door more loudly.
“Just let her be for now” A voice came from behind and Jaden turned to find Jordan.
“But what if something happens to her?” Jaden mumbled, turning to continue knocking.
“So you suddenly care now? But don’t worry she loves to stay alone lately so it isn’t much of a big deal…” Jordan muttered, going downstairs while Jaden followed.
As soon as the got downstairs Jordan pulled Jaden’s ear.
“Now tell me where you have been?” Jordan demanded, pulling his ear header.
“Let go of me first” Jaden groaned and Jordan let him go. “I went to Los Angeles, I finished college and started a business” Jaden mumbled.
“You could have informed us before leaving, at least you could have told Amelia, you left the girl completely broken” Jordan sighed.
“What you did wasn’t funny at all, she changed so much after you left, you have to find a way to fix things with her…” Jordan added and Jaden sighed.
“What do I do?”
“You can try talking to her but not right now” Jordan said and Jaden nodded.
Elizabeth soon walked in with two cups of coffee, she handed Jordan one and the other one to Jaden.
“This is Elizabeth, my wife” Jordan introduced with a smile.
“Nice to meet you” Jaden smiled lightly.
“So you’re the Jaden that broke my pumpkin?” Elizabeth said.
“What? Pumpkin?” Jaden asked.
“I’m talking about Amelia, I heard a lot about you mostly from her, she talks about you sometimes” Elizabeth smiled.
“I’m sorry…” Jaden mumbled.
“The sorry isn’t for me, save it for her” Elizabeth said and Jaden nodded.
“Could you return this to her?” Jaden handed Elizabeth Amelia’s bag.
“Sure” Elizabeth replied, going to Amelia’s room.
“Your room is still the same way you left it” Jordan said.
“I’m not staying here, I bought a house” Jaden muttered and Jordan’s mouth flew open.
“You bought a house?” He asked just to be sure. Jaden nodded.
“In just two years you accomplished a lot” Jordan smiled, lightly.
“I’ll be going now….”Jaden stood.
When Elizabeth got to Amelia’s door, Vera was already there, she was knocking, trying to persuade Amelia to open the door but it wasn’t working, she wasn’t even responding.
“Let me try…” Elizabeth said, and Vera moved to the side as Elizabeth took over, knocking.
“Pumpkin, it’s me” Elizabeth said, softly while knocking.
“Open the door, please….” As soon as those word came out of her mouth, Amelia opened the door instantly. She immediately hugged her.
Knowing fully well that Amelia wouldn’t talk to her, Vera walked away.
Is this what their relationship has gotten to. She has tried to apologize but Amelia wouldn’t even give her a listening ear, she didn’t really believe what Amelia felt for Jaden was real and now she ruined everything.
“What’s wrong?” Elizabeth asked, cupping Amelia’s cheeks. They were both seated on her bed, Elizabeth had to wait until Amelia was sober before asking her anything.
“Why did he come back?” Amelia asked, sniffling as she wiped her tears.
“He obviously came for you, aren’t you happy?” Elizabeth smiled.
“I don’t know but I don’t want to see him” Amelia shrugged.
“I know how you feel, it’ll take time but eventually everything will fall into place and things can go back to how there were….”
“No, it won’t, I will never forgive him, I hate him” Amelia mumbled making Elizabeth chuckle.
“Do you really hate him?” Elizabeth asked and Amelia shook her head.
“I don’t expect you to forgive him easily but make sure you at least give him a listening ear, just listen to his reasons first, huh?” Elizabeth said and Amelia nodded.
“Here’s your bag” Elizabeth handed it to her and left, Amelia looked at the bag for a while before tossing it aside. She wrapped the duvet round her body and shut her eyes tightly.
Jaden had two places to visit before going home, the first one was sam’s house. The moment he walked in a dumbfounded look washed up on Sam’s face.
“So you’re alife? You disappeared for two years, do you know what I’ve been going through?” Sam yelled angrily.
“Calm down” Jaden replied, plainly.
“How will I calm down? We agreed to take down Ben but you just disappeared, leaving me to suffer!” Sam said, his eyes reddening.
“It’s a long story but I’m back now” Jaden replied, his calmness was adding to Sam’s anger. Jaden doesn’t even know what he’s been going through for two years!
“Do you know my daughter lost her legs because of Ben? He sends me to do his dirty jobs and anytime I don’t do it, he tortues my family. He cut off three years old daughter’s legs!” Same cried.
“Am sorry, but I’ll make it up to you…..”
“How exactly?” Sam cut him off.
“I’ll send you and your family far away, somewhere Ben can’t find you” Jaden replied.
“How are you going to handle Ben?” Sam asked.
“I won’t do anything, I’ll let him go, he’ll get what’s coming for him soon” Jaden replied.
“It’s surprising who you’ll let him go after everything he did to you” Sam shook his head.
“I’ll send money to you before dawn and I’ll send a car to pick you up, you and your family should get ready before four am” Jaden replied and left.
Xavier’s eyes were locked on the television, his gaze unwavering as he watched the player running around the pitch, aiming to get the ball in their control while Ashlyn was in dreamland with her head placed on Xavier’s laps, she was deeply asleep.
The door bell rang bringing Xavier back to reality, his eyes averted form the television as he wondered who it was, he gently lifted Ashlyn head, stood and placed it gently on the couch.
He walked up to the door, and opened it, reveling Jaden. Before Jaden could say a word Xavier gave him a deafening slap.
“What was that for?” Jaden sighed, holding his throbbing cheek.
“Have you received your slap from Amelia?” Xavier asked, as Jaden walked in.
“Not yet” Jaden replied.
“Oh, so you’re aware you’re gonna receive a slap” Xavier chuckled.
“Well, I deserve that at least” Jaden replied.
“You deserve more than that, you left her for two years….”
“And I see that wasn’t the best decision, I’m sorry” Jaden mumbled.
“Sorry?” Xavier chuckled. “A million sorry won’t fix what you did. Do you know, the same night you left, she ran to my house barefooted, she was crying and begging me to call you because you weren’t picking her calls. You didn’t pick mine either” Xavier added.
“I….”
“After that night, she went missing for two day, she kept wondering around the streets for two days searching for you. She cried so much that she fell sick and was unconscious for almost a week and when she woke up, she continued crying for you to come back.” Xavier cut him off angrily.
“Are you telling me this to make me feel worst than I already do?” Jaden sighed.
“I’m telling you so you’ll know the impact of what you did. I won’t blame her if she never forgives you.” Xavier said.
“What am I going to do?” Jaden swept his hand through his hair in regret. He didn’t know that him leaving would cause this much pains to her, Gawd, he really didn’t think it through before leaving.
“I’ll be back” Xavier said and went back to the couch, lifting Ashlyn up in his arms then he carried her into the room to tuck her in.
~NEXT DAY~
Finally, Amelia was done with all her classes, James was waiting outside as she walked out of the hall.
She didn’t spare James a glance as she began walking away, while he followed.
He wrapped his hand around her shoulder as they walked out of the school.
“You still haven’t answered my question” James said.
“What?” Amelia groaned, the only thing on her mind right now was food. She couldn’t wait to get him so she could eat and luckily she has an off day at the restaurant.
“My party. Are you coming?” James asked, waiting for her answer but before she could reply, a Ferrari Stradale drove into tbe school in full speed, startling everyone.
Almost all the girls deafening shrieks filled the atmosphere as Jaden stepped out of the car, looking as dashing as ever on a casual sweat shirt with a hoodie attached and pants.
Amelia heartbeat accelerated as he walked briskly over to her. Jealousy struck Jaden like a knife as he saw James hand around Amelia’s shoulder. His first instinct was to get him away from Amelia, exactly what he did, he pulled Amelia to his side.
“Get away from me!” Amelia pushed him away but he didn’t flinch or stagger.
“Who’s he?” Jaden asked, glaring at James.
“That’s not your business” Amelia mumbled, trying to leave with James but Jaden bundled her up forcefully and opened the car’s door.
He threw her in and locked it, then he got into the driver’s seat and drove off, leaving everyone watching wondering what the heck just happened?
Amelia kept on hitting the car door and window looking for a way to get out but it was locked.
“Little @ss, calm down” Jaden said, calmly but she wasn’t listening, she kept on hitting the door.
She kept that up for about five minutes until she finally spoke up,
“Open the door” She commanded.
“I thought you weren’t going to talk to me” Jaden muttered, with his eyes on the road and his hands on the steering wheel.
“Open the door!” She yelled but he didn’t and she kept on screaming.
“Calm down,we need to talk” Jaden muttered but she shook her head.
“I don’t want to talk to you, just open tbe door” She yelled, this time she started crying.
Jaden immediately pulled up at a side of the road then he faced her, it stung his heart seeing her crying.
“Why are you crying?” He asked, with concern.
“I want to leave” She mumbled, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
“Please let’s talk” He said, calmly.
“I dont want to talk to you” She sniffled.
“Do you want ice cream?” He asked and she shook her head.
“What do you want?”
“I want you to stay away from me” She snapped.
“I can’t do that……”
“But you did it for two years” She cut him off, angrily.
“I was missing you like crazy…..”
“You could have called or texted at least but you didn’t, you just left me alone with a stupid letter!” She cut him off again.
“Will you let me speak. I wanted to call but I kept restraining myself, I wanted to clear my head and set things up without distractions” He said.
“So, I’m a distraction” She asked, pointing at herself.
“That’s not what I mean…” Jaden sighed.
“But it’s what you said….. I don’t want to talk to you” She opened the door and shut it violently.
She began walking away while Jaden quickly got out of the car and ran after her.
“Let me at least drop you home” Jaden offered.
“I don’t need your help” She replied, without turning to face him.
“Let me just do this for you at least” He mumbled, taking hold of her hand, she turned and gave him a slap without thinking.
“I said stay away from me!” Amelia snapped and continued walking away, Jaden continued following her but from a little distance.
He watched as she waved down a cab and got in, he was rooted to a spot, watching the car till it was out of sight.
He sighed and walked back to his car. It will take a lot for her to forgive him but he’s ready, no matter what, he’ll definitely earn her forgiveness.
Jerry’s eyes followed Evelyn’s body as she walked out of the bathroom, naked. She took her time in applying her body cream and Jerry didn’t even blink once as he watched her body.
“Why are you starting at me?” She asked, still applying the cream.
Jerry stood and walked over to her, he grabbed her waist and pulled her to himself, tightly pressing their body against each other’s.
“The hospital called, they need me for something important” Evelyn said, seeing the naughty smile on Jerry’s lips.
“But I also need you” Jerry pouted.
“Not right now, I need to go” Evelyn sighed, trying to get away from his grip but he was stronger. She stood no chance.
“You should have taught of that before coming out naked”Jerry mumbled.
“Jerry.. you….” The rest of the words died down in her throat as Jerry kissed her neck, rubbing her arse at the same time.
He kept on kissing her neck making sure to leave hickeys, her moans filled the room and soon they were laying on the bed, both of them completely naked.
Few minutes later, Evelyn walked down the stairs fully dressed, while Jerry trailed behind her.
Hannah was standing in the living room as if waiting for them.
“What’s wrong?” Evelyn asked, as they fully climbed the stairs.
“I was wondering if sir would like to eat anything?” Hannah asked.
“Don’t worry about that” Jerry replied as he took Evelyn outside and waved her goodbye.
He returned into the house and found Hannah still standing.
“Don’t you have anything to do?” Jerry snapped and she immediately rushed into the kitchen.
She quickly brought out an orange juice from the freezer, then she placed it on a tray after lacing it with a séx drug.
She quickly changed her clothes into a tight revealing short dress then she picked up the tray, making her way to Jerry’s room.
She walked in without knocking which made Jerry frown, he was sitting on bed with his laptop on his laps.
“Don’t you have manners?” Jerry snapped, angrily.
“Sorry sir, I brought some orange juice” Hannah muttered.
“I didn’t ask for it” Jerry replied, curtly and his eyes went back to the laptop screen.
Hannah folded her fist, Jerry didn’t even look at her body but she’s determined to get what she wants today.
“But sir, you must be tired. You should have it so you can regain your energy” Hannah said, with an evil smile.
Jerry thought for a while and sighed,
“You can keep it here and leave” Jerry mumbled and Hannah smiled.
She placed the juice on next to him and stood watching and waiting for him to drink it.
She’ll finally get him today!
