Chapter 33 & 34 : Unspoken Promises
“Uhn, I.. what.. what have I done wrong, just now you were giving me the responsibility of your birthday preparation, all of a sudden you are firing me. Why?”
Ivan faced back in guilt.
It’s for your sake, it’s for safety Ivy. I don’t want anything to happen to you cause of me. Ivan said inwardly.
“I am the boss here and you will do as I say, you are no longer in charge of anything nor my worker.” Ivan said.
“But at least you can tell me the reason.” Ivy said coming in front of him.
“I will give you a cheque of $50M. That’s for your salary, hope am clear.” Ivan said walking back to his seat.
He wrote the cheque amount and sign on it.
” Here.” Ivan said handing it over to her.
Ivy look at the cheque and then at Ivan, even though she doesn’t wish to quit, she still need money. She collected it from him.
“But I have a request.” Ivy said and Ivan furrowed his brows.
“What?”
“I will have to stay till you celebrate your birthday, I will still be in charge of your birthday preparation. After that, I will leave from your life.” Ivy said and Ivan felt sad hearing that .
Why am I so concerned about her, I don’t have a lot of time, that man can do anything before my birthday.* He said in his head.
” Please.” Ivy said making a pleading face.
“Okay.” Ivan said when he couldn’t resist and she smiled.
Ivan finished his work and close the laptop, they walk out of the office and went to the car. It was silent all through the drive.
★ Aurthur’s Mansion★
They arrived home and got down from the car, Ivy pressed the doorbell and one of the maids open the door.
“Welcome sir.” The maid said and he nodded while the maid collected his brief case from Ivy.
“You should start packing your bags.” Ivan said before entering his room.
“He doesn’t even care, he is so heartless.” Ivy muttered sadly leaving to her room
★ Bryan’s home★
Bianca and Bryan were both at the dinning room eating and also discussing.
” Dad called.” Bianca said and Bryan looked at her.
“Why did he.” Bryan asked.
“He said he is coming back anytime soon.” Bianca said and he smiled.
“Good, what of mum.” Bryan said.
“She is staying back, she has a lot of things to do there.” Bianca said and he nodded as they continued eating.
Just then, they heard the ringing of the doorbell.
“Who could that be at this late hour.” Bianca said as she stood up walking towards the door.
Immediately she opened the door, her eyes widened.
“Dad!” She called as she hugged him immediately.
Bryan heard her and walk to the door too.
“Dad.” He said too.
“My dear, how are you two.” His father ( Mr. Joshua) said.
“Welcome dad, we miss you a lot.” Bryan said and hugged him too.
They entered the house and sat down on the chair.
“But Dad, I didn’t know you would come so soon.” Bianca said.
“I told you so soon, so I came as soon as possible.” Mr. Joshua said.
“What of Mum?” Bryan asked, he is actually mummy’s favourite.
“She will be staying there for a while, but she will definitely come home.” Mr. Joshua said and Bryan nodded.
“You must be tired due to the trip, you should go rest.” Bianca said.
“Sure dear, we will discuss better tomorrow. I will go to my room.” Mr. Joshua said and Bryan helped with his luggage.
They both went upstairs and Bryan came back to the living room.
“Sis, Dad is back.” Bryan said.
“Of course, so?” Bianca shrugged.
“Sophie, how will we break the news to him.” Bryan said.
“He just came back, so let not rush in telling him you and Sophia are back together. Let’s take things slowly yunno.” Bianca said.
” That’s true, but I should inform Sophie.” Bryan said and Bianca nodded affirmatively.
★ Melody house★
Melody came out of the bathroom and was ready to go to sleep.
She won’t stop thinking about the deal between her and Noah, just her phone pinged.
She checked only to see it’s Noah.
💌: Sleeping?
💌: Yes, Melody typed back.
💌: Okay, just decided to check up on you. Good night 😘.
Melody saw that emoji and chuckled slightly.
💌: Are you acting like a boyfriend now? Melody typed.
💌: Hmm, maybe.
💌: Good night. Melody typed and switch off her phone.
She giggled before she slept off.
★ An unknown location★
Melissa walk inside a room, a man was sitting down on a rocking chair while smoking.
” Why did you call me here?” Melissa asked.
” You have been staying here for a while, don’t you think it’s time to go back to that company.” The husky voice of the man said.
” Of course, hope our deal is intact.” Melissa asked.
” Yes, it’s nice doing business with you.” The man said.
” Of course, I worked with him for five good years. Don’t underestimate me.” Melissa said and smirk.
★ Next morning* Aurthur’s Mansion★
Ivy already woke up, she joined the maids in preparing the morning dishes.
Ivan came out of his room though he was on a phone call.
“Sure Mr. George, the project will commence as soon as possible.” Ivan said.
Ivy looked up and saw him coming down the stairs, she admired him for a while.
He is wearing a white suit with a black tie and white pant too. His hair is nicely gelled handsomely making him super hot.
👥: Good morning sir.
👥: Morning boss.
The maids greeted him and Ivy jolt out of her imaginations.
“Hey Ivy, what’s wrong?” Ma. Rose asked.
“It’s nothing.” Ivy said and continued her work.
” Aren’t you going to the office today too?” Ma. Rose asked.
“No, I have to stay at home.” Ivy muttered sadly.
” Is something going on between you and Ivan?” Ma. Rose asked.
” No not at all.” Ivy said and look at Ivan who was also looking at her.
” Good morning.” Louisa yelled coming downstairs happily.
“Hey, you seems happy today. What’s going on?” Ivy asked as Louisa take a seat.
” Let’s just say everything is back to normal.” Louisa said smiling.
” Is it about the other boy?” Ivy whispered to her ear.
” What? It’s.. no, there’s nothing as such.” Louisa denied.
” You can’t lie to me.” Ivy said again and she blushed.
” What’s going on?” Ivan finally spoke up.
” Nothing brother.” Louisa said and Ivan nodded.
” But Ivy, why are you acting strangely today, I mean you aren’t too nice.” Louisa said.
” Cause I will soon go away.” Ivy muttered not knowing they heard her.
” What, why will you?” Louisa and Ma. Rose said in unity.
Ivy looked at Ivan not knowing what to say.
Chapter 35 & 36 : Bonding in Unexpected Ways
” What do you mean by that Ivy?” Ivan asked and Ivy looked at him in surprise.
” I… Am sorry, I was uttering rubbish.” Ivy said smiling and they believed.
” Finish eating Louisa, I will drop you off college.” Ivan said.
” No no brother, don’t bother. I don’t want those people to start hovering over you again.” Louisa said pouting.
” Really? No problem.”
” Thanks.” Louisa smiled and he nodded.
A while later, they were done eating. Ivan went to his room to get his suitcase while Louisa went to arrange her bag.
Ivy looked at Ma. Rose who was busy arranging the dinning while some maids helped her to clear the dishes.
Ivy cleared her throat and Ma. Rose looked at her.
” Do you want something?” Ma. Rose asked.
” Erm, I want to ask something from you.”
” Go on.”
” Since you have been Mr. Ivan and Louisa’s nanny since they were little, I thought you might know what Mr. Ivan would want for his birthday, I mean I want to get him a gift but I don’t know what to get him.” Ivy said and Ma. Rose smiled sadly.
” Thanks dear. Even though, it’s not evident on his face. I know he really wants his parents badly, I know he missed them and want them to come back as soon as possible, so if you really want to gift him something. Try your best to get his parents here, he might be a Billionaire but everyone deserves their parents love.” Ma. Rose said and Ivy’s expression changed.
” But how will I contact them or convince them to come back.” Ivy said.
” I will give you their contact, but trust me it’s really hard convincing them cause they love their work a lot.” Ma. Rose said.
” I will try my every best.” Ivy said smiling.
” Thank you so much Ivy, girls like you are rare Even though he is always cold towards you, you still wish to give him a great gift. Thank you so much.” Ma. Rose said and hug her which she reciprocate.
Just then Ivan start descending from the stairs with his suitcase with him and they quickly disengaged from the hug. Ma. Rose left.
Ivan’s phone rang and it was Bryan, he sigh and pick it up.
📞: Hey buddy. Bryan said over the phone.
It was on loud speaker so Ivy could hear everything.
📞: Why are you just calling, you could have called next year. Ivan said and both Ivy and Bryan Chuckled.
” What’s funny?” Ivan said and Ivy nodded her head.
📞: Common buddy, I have been busy and Dad just came back. You didn’t call me too, I guess since your PA is with you, you’re not that lonely anymore. Bryan said and both Ivy and Ivan looked at each other and Ivy quickly looked away.
📞: Hey, what are you spewing. Ivan said.
📞: Let’s meet. Bryan said.
📞: I have a very important project to do, until I complete that I don’t think I will be free. It’s a big project, I have to concentrate. Ivan said.
📞: Of course, I trust you. Bryan said.
📞: I will hang up now. Ivan said and cut the call after Bryan responded.
” Let’s go.” Ivan said already going.
Ivy looked at him in surprise and when Ivan noticed she wasn’t coming, he looked back.
” What are you waiting for?” Ivan said again.
” But where?”
” Office of course, I just said there’s a big project at hand.” Ivan said.
” Alright then, let’s me go change.” Ivy said but Ivan stopped her.
” You look great in the dress, let’s go.” Ivan said, but when he realized what he said, he faced back in frustration.
What was I thinking?* Ivan said inwardly.
Ivy was actually wearing a simple, a little bit tight blue gown that stopped above her knee.
” Thank you sir, let’s go.” Ivy said walking towards him and like that they left the house.
★ Noah’s place★
Today is the day Noah is to present his so called girlfriend. He called Melody over and she arrived at his house.
She press the doorbell and Noah himself came to open the door. As soon as he saw her , he was left flabbergasted by the angel in front of him.
Melody was wearing a yellow flay gown with black heels and black handbag. Her makeup looks so pretty.
” Hey, what are you looking at huh?” Melody said jolting him out of his imaginations.
” Umm, sorry I just couldn’t recognize the beautiful angel at my front as Melody, sorry.” Noah said and Melody blushed.
” Come in, mom and dad are waiting.” Noah said and stretch out his hand which she took and they entered.
His parents both were sitted on the cushion obviously waiting for Noah’s girlfriend.
” Mom, Dad.” Noah called and they looked at them.
” She is really beautiful.” His mom whispered to his Dad.
” Good afternoon sir, afternoon ma.” Melody greeted respectfully and to both Noah and Melody’s Surprise, they ignored her.
” Have a seat.” Noah said and she sat down.
She gaze around the house and it was looking so big, as in how can the parents of a boy who’s working in a mere restaurant build such a beautiful house.
” So what are your qualifications.” Noah’s mom said and Melody looked at her in surprise.
” Umm, I graduated college with an excellent grade.” Melody said smiling.
” Your background?” Noah’s dad question came next and Melody was feeling a bit wierd.
” I..umm. has both my parents, with a little brother who is staying with my aunt and uncle in another country.” Melody said.
” I wasn’t referring to your parents or something, poor or middle class?” His dad asked again, this time Noah look at his father signalling to him to speak nicely. Melody cleared her throat
“I..erm, middle class.” Melody said softly.
” What!” Noah’s mom sprang up and Melody stood up too surprised.
” Noah, how can you even bring a middle class girl here to my Mansion, I warned you not to work in that restaurant and here you are bringing me this thing.” His mom said and Melody’s eyes widened, tears already filled her eyes.
” Mom!!” Noah yelled angrily.
” Don’t you dare shut me up, she is not in your class at all. Is that why you have been avoiding Lisa? Don’t she knows who we are?” His mom said again and Melody looked at her in confusion.
” We are the Rodriguez, the Rodriguez car dealers.” His father said and Melody’s eyes widened.
What!! They are the Rodriguez, the famous one? I don’t understand what going on.* Melody said in her head.
” Mom, I told you not to say that here.” Noah said.
” Noah, I don’t understand a thing.” Melody said.
Just then, a pretty classy girl walked in straight into Noah’s arms and Melody’s eyes widened the more.
” Noah baby, how are you?” Lisa said still hugging him.
” Lisa let go off me now.” Noah said coldly and she let go immediately.
Noah looked at Melody who just stood there in shock, he walked closer to her.
” Isn’t this the stinky bitch you have been ignoring me for huh?” Lisa said.
” Lisa!!!” Noah yelled at her and she flinched.
” Don’t you dare call her that.” Noah warned coldly and Lisa gulped down nothing.
” Melody, listen to me. Am sorry, I hid everything, my identity, everything. Melody, am sorry.” Noah said holding her hand and Melody jerked off her hand instantly.
” Did you bring me here to disgrace me? Isn’t this the girl you said you want to get married to. You hid your identity from me, such a big thing from me. And silly me, came here trying to pretend I am your girlfriend and and I..I was disgraced. Don’t you dare show me your face ever again.” Melody said and walked out of the house angrily.
” Melody…” Noah tried to go after her but Lisa held him.
” She is not even your girlfriend.” Lisa said.
” She is not my girlfriend but I love her okay? Listen to me Mom and Dad, am never getting married to Lisa. I love Melody and no one else.” Noah said and walked off to his room upstairs.
Both his Dad, Mom and Lisa stood there in shock. Lisa clenched her fist and gritted her teeth in anger.
Chapter 37 & 38 : Bryan’s Redemption
★A week after* Ivan’s birthday★
The Authur’s Mansion was decorated too very well, all work done by Ivy and some planners helped in the decorations.
As per Ivan’s instructions, the decor colour is in Orange and White, and everything was looking pretty and radiant.
Some prominent people, business men all around, Ivan’s business partners and others were present there.
Everywhere became silent when the spotlight was shone on the birthday celebrant.
” Ladies and Gentlemen, let’s welcome our celebrant. The big Ivan Aurthur!!!” The MC announced
People started clapping and cheering as he descend the stairs.
” Whoo, go brother.” Louisa yelled where she was seated, Ryan was beside her.
Sophia, Bryan, Melody and Noah also came. Noah came on his own cause Ivan is his parents business partners too.
” Gush, he is looking so handsome today.” Ivy said as she stared at him.
He is dressed in a white suit and trouser, he was looking so hot.
👥: Ivan, we love you.
👥: Happy birthday Ivan.
People started shouting and he waved at them and went to the stage, he took over the mic.
” Thank you, thank you everyone for coming to wish me on my birthday. I really appreciate, thank you so much.” As he spoke, people started cheering and he had to wait till he die down.
” I hope you all enjoy yourself tonight, feel free. Eat, drink and dance, and our new project will be out in sometimes.” Ivan said and for the first time, he smiled.
👥: Oh gosh, his smile is so charming.
👥: Haven’t seen his smile ever.
👥: Everything they do, always turns out best.
👥: Best among all.
” He is smiling? Wow, he looks more handsome.” Ivy said smiling.
” Did you get to do it?” Ma. Rose asked besides her and she nodded.
People started enjoying themselves, all of them put a smile on their faces.
Ivy excused herself to the restroom, as she was about going back she bumped into someone. With his cologne, she could tell it’s Ivan even without looking up.
” Happy birthday sir.” Ivy said and she flashed a smile.
” Did you get my birthday present?” Ivan asked sarcastically.
” Do you want a gift from me?” Ivy asked and he raised his brows.
” It’s okay, I don’t need it.” Ivan said and turn to go but Ivy held his arm.
He turned back slowly and he looked at her for a minute, he couldn’t deny she was looking so beautiful.
” Well I have a gift, and I hope you like it.” Ivy said.
” What’s that?”
” It’s a surprise, so wait for it.” Ivy stood on her toes and whispered in his ear.
Ivan stood there for a while, Ivy turn to go but she stopped to say something.
” Less I forget, you.. look so handsome today.” Ivy managed to say.
Ivan just kept looking at her in surprise, his heart just kept beating.
What’s happening, people tell me I look handsome all time but why it is so special hearing it from her.* Ivan said in his mind.
Ivan was about to talk when someone interrupted, Noah.
” Mr. Ivan.” Noah said and walked closer to them.
” I will leave now.” Ivy said and look at Ivan again before leaving.
” Happy birthday, Mr. Ivan.” Noah said as they shake.
” Thank you, thanks for coming.” Ivan said and he took the handshake.
” Looking forward in doing business together.” Noah said.
” Of course, after the project is done. An auction will be done as always, and I hope you will participate this time too.” Ivan said.
” Of course.” And like that, they walked to the main party.
” Hey, birthday boy.” Bryan said and Ivan face him.
” Boy? Am I boy? Am a man .” Ivan said and Bryan laughed.
” Okay, okay. Chill, Happy birthday.” Bryan said and they hugged.
” What of your Dad?” Ivan said.
” Oh, he was supposed to come but something came up.” Bryan said.
” Nevertheless, you are here and it’s okay.” Ivan said and Bryan smiled.
In another seat, Ivy, Melody and Sophia were just chit chatting.
” Why aren’t you telling us what you are giving Ivan.” Melody said.
” It’s a surprise, wait for it.” Ivy said.
” We have missed you like, how do you even survive in this house with that cold business man.” Sophia said.
” Common, he is not really that cold but don’t worry all is well.” Ivy said and her mind suddenly travelled to the deal between her and Ivan.
Am leaving after this anyways.* Ivy said in her head and look at Ivan who was also looking at her.
He read her mind. Ivy looked away and they continued their conversation.
★ Airport★
A woman and a man got down from the plane and removed their glasses.
” Wow wow, after so many years, we finally came back to this country. Can’t wait to be home.” The woman said.
” That girl said a car would come pick us, so let’s go.” The man said and they got out.
True to the words, a car was actually waiting for them.
★ Back at the Mansion★
Melody went to take something in Ivy’s room, Ivy asked her. She was about going back to the hall when Noah blocked her way.
” Melody, can we talk?” Noah said.
” Mr. Rodriguez, I have no time for that.” Melody said walking off but Noah held her.
” Please Melody, am really sorry for whatever happened at my house the other day. I didn’t know my parents would do that and for Lisa, I swear to you I love her. I told you I don’t want to get married to her.” Noah said.
” Why are you telling me this, you can love whoever you like.” Melody said.
” Because I…” Noah stopped.
I shouldn’t tell her now.*
” I will tell you at the right time, trust me. But please can you stop getting angry with me, I really don’t like it. It’s been long we have talked to each other and chatted for long.” Noah said..
“I…” Melody was about to talk when Ivy interrupted.
” You? I mean why are you with Melody?” Ivy said.
” It’s a long story Ivy, let’s go. I will tell you about it.” Melody said as she dragged Ivy downstairs.
Ivan talking to some of the business partners, accepting their gifts and appreciating them, when he bumped into someone.
” You!” Ivan said and he frown.
” Happy birthday Mr. Ivan.” It’s Melissa.
She found a way to enter into the mansion and joined the party.
” Melissa, where on earth have you been. Do you know how much work you have made me do all alone.” Ivan said.
” Sorry sir, I had to travel down to another state for a family.” Melissa lied.
” It’s no problem, you are back now right?” Ivan said.
” Of course.”
Of course, Ivan Aurthur. I am back for good.* Melissa said in her head and smirk.
They were still busy talking when Ivy saw them. She got angry seeing them together and got more angrier the moment Ivan touched Melissa’s shoulder and Melissa smiled.
She walked towards them in anger.
” Ivan sir.” She called ignoring Melissa.
” What’s it?” Ivan asked.
” Come with me, I have to show you something.” Ivy said and she held his hand.
” Hey, don’t you see me talking to him.” Melissa said.
” Oh Melissa, sorry I didn’t see you. But you really just have to let go of him because I need him. Clear? Let’s go.” Ivy said and Ivan looked at her in surprise.
Melissa was already angry.
Again, I am back to this witch era.* Melissa said in her head.
” MC sir, why don’t you let’s do something fun, what do you think.” Ivy said.
👥: Yes. The people chorused.
” So what did you suggest Miss.” The MC asked.
” What are you doing Ivy?” Ivan whispered to her.
” So, I suggest we all dance. Like a ball dance, are we all in.” Ivy said.
👥: Yes.
” Okay guys, choose your partners.” Ivy said and everyone started picking their partners.
” Nice idea.” Ivan muttered.
Melissa was about going towards Ivan, when Ivy saw her and quickly ask him.
” Cold ice, wanna dance?”
” You still call me that?” Ivan asked and scoff.
” Forget that, dance with me.” Ivy said and stretch out her hands which he accepted.
They all got on the dance floor and song played behind. Noah asked Melody, Bryan and Sophia, obviously Ryan and Louisa.
Melissa looked at them in anger.
” Wanna join me?” A guy asked Melissa.
” Get lost before I lose my temper.” Melissa said and the guy left.
A car drove in Aurthur’s Mansion and the two people got down from the it. The guards greeted them and they entered the mansion.
Ivy and Ivan were still busy dancing, with other people too. Ivan’s hand on her waist and the other holding her hand.
All of them danced like a couple, but Ivy and Ivan’s seems so special. They stared at each other intensely and Ivy shiver as Ivan’s hand made contact with her waist.
” Are you feeling uncomfortable?” Ivan asked.
” Umm, no.” Ivy answered.
” Thank you.” Ivan said.
” But I will be leaving after this anyways.”
” I..ummm” Ivan was about talking when the lights went off but as soon as it came on, both Louisa and Ivy’s eyes widened.
” Mom, Dad.” Louisa said and left Ryan running towards them.
” Uh, my baby.” She hugged her back.
They looked at Ivan, who was also glaring at them.
” Ivan dear, won’t you come and greet your parents.” His Dad said.
Ivan balled his fist in anger. People were already murmuring
” Why are you here?” Ivan asked.
” Oh, a girl called us over. I can’t even find her here, her name is Ivy.” His mom said.
” What! Ivy, is this the surprise she was talking about?” Ivan said.
” Where is she, can’t see her here.” His Dad said.
Ivan looked besides him and didn’t see Ivy, he looked around but no sight of her.
That way, they started searching for her but couldn’t find her anywhere in the mansion.
” Ivy!!!” Ivan yelled angrily.
