Episode 25 & 26 : Ruth’s Sacrifice
<< WINTERS MANSION >>
“But I saw you, I saw you coming out of a restaurant” Damian insist.
“That’s odd. I didn’t step out of the estate,I was at….I was at the garden and…”
“And did you have an alibi? Did one of the servants see you in the garden?” Damian ask and she shook her head in response.
“I have no one to confirm for me but I can assure that I was at the garden. I had nothing to do and when I came across the garden, I spent time removing weeds, watering the plants and cutting off thorns and….”.
“That’s enough. I believe you” Damian said, cutting her off.
“But why? Why are you asking me this, did you….” The rest of her words were cut off when Damian pull her into his arms, holding her tight.
“Just forget what I said. I must have mistaken you for someone else…Just promise me that you won’t keep a thing from me” he said as he slightly let go so he can stare at her face.
“I won’t ” June said, forcing a smile on her face while hoping he didn’t notice anything.
<< NEXT DAY ~ MORNING >>
“It’s your birthday soon and am sure you’d want it partied out like you’ve done in the past ” Martha said down the line.
Damian who was busy typing something into his laptop, set it aside to pick up his phone.
“Am not having those party. Am married now and I just want to be with my wife. Help me with that” Damian said in return.
“Sure, I will do what you want but then am currently not in the city “.
“Where did you go to mom?”
“To Korea, I just need to get somethings, I will be back before your birthday, don’t worry” Martha assure and after talking some more, Damian ended the call.
“Am afraid to tell you that it’s time for your appointment and if we don’t leave now, we will be late” Stacey, Damian’s secretary said and immediately, he set every other thing aside.
They were well into the highway when, Damian saw the restaurant he had seen June leaving with a guy.
Just like the other day, the traffic light was on red and the driver had no choice but to wait.
Damian focus was on the restaurant, hoping that what he saw yesterday was just a mistake but he was surprise to see June with the same guy of yesterday.
“Stacey, take a look at the restaurant on your right, do you recognize the lady going in with that guy?” Damian ask.
“Isn’t she your wife?” Stacey said, proving that he isn’t seeing wrong.
“She’s my wife, right?” He ask and took his phone to dial June’s number but she didn’t pick.
“Do me a favour Stacey. Help me follow them”.
“But what about the meeting?”
“I will handle it myself. Just do what I say and report everything to me” He said and immediately Stacey left the car.
It took hours for the meeting to be over and when he return to Brooks International, it was to see Stacey waiting for him.
“Spill it” He said the moment they were in his office.
“I did follow your wife as you said and they….they left the restaurant and…do you really want me to tell you?” Stacey said, knowing it’s going to devastate him if she does.
“Tell me everything”
“They left the restaurant and went to an hotel. I took this pictures just in case” Stacey said, showing him pictures of June and the unknown guy together.
“If you want I can find out why they went to the hotel “
“Don’t worry Stacey. I will handle it ” Damian said as he stood up.
“Cancel the rest of my appointment and also, send me the pictures” he added before leaving the room.
<< WINTER MANSION >>
June was helping the maids out in the kitchen when Damian return.
She was having a great time with them when she was told of his arrival.
She excuse herself and went to their room where she knew he will be waiting for her.
“Your home” she said, a smile brightening her face as she walk towards him, he had his back turn to her and he was starring out through the window.
“You know, I just finish baking a cake with the maid, do you want me to bring some for you?” She ask and slowly he turn to stare at her.
Judging by the look on his face, June could tell something had happen.
“Did you go out today?”
“I…er…”
“Did you go out today?” He ask again and she gave a nod.
“Where?”
“To see someone”
“Who?”
“Mom! I went to see Mom and then I had lunch with Teresa and you….”
“Will you stop it with the lies! ” He yelled, startling her.
“For the love of gawd! Do you think am a fool? Someone to toy with? You think that because I forgave you for your first deceit you are allowed to do it again and get away with it!” He yell at her.
“Am sorry I lied to you. I just didn’t want you to find out about the…”
“About your infidelity!” He ask and that shock her into silence.
“Infidelity, What infidelity?” June demanded and he told her everything that he saw.
“I agree that I went to that restaurant with a man but I didn’t go to an hotel, I never did. I would never do that”
“So your still gonna lie?” He said, showing her the pictures Stacey took.
“This isn’t me, Damian. I….I don’t know how or why she looks just like me but it’s not me, I am not the one in the picture…but who is she? Why does she have my face?” June ask, shock to see someone that looks like her.
“Just stop with your pretence. You can’t tell me that this is not you”.
“It is not me! You need to believe me, am not the one in the picture, I never went to an hotel with this man, I swear” she said, holding his arm.
The knock on the door interrupt their convo for a brief moment.
“Well, hello. The delivery man brought this and I offered to bring it up to you” Davina said, carrying a bouquet of red roses.
“Hope am not interrupting you guys. You don’t have to get angry, you sent her the bouquet after all” Davina said starring at her brother and then June.
“I didn’t send those” Damian said, taking the bouquet to get the white envelope in it.
He read the content and turn to stare at June.
“Do you still insist it’s a lie?” He said, throwing the paper to her.
“What’s in it, let me read too” Davina said, standing behind June to read the letter content.

“This isn’t for me, Damian. I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t know this guy, I don’t even know the hotel he is talking about” June said, hurrying towards him.
“June, it’s you in the picture or is there a way you can defend that too. Are you twins?” Damian ask.
“No. Am the only female daughter my mom gave birth to” June reply.
“Then there’s nothing for you to say. This is you in the picture and that’s all” Damian said,leaving the room but June went after him.
“Listen to me, Damian. Let us talk this out” she said, going after him and none of them notice June’s mother standing downstairs until she spoke.
“I can see I showed up at a bad time” Ruth said, starring at the two couple.
“No! I think you showed up at the perfect time. June and I have this misunderstanding and I want you to clear things up for us. Is June a twin or does someone in your family looks exactly like her?” Damian ask.
“My daughter doesn’t have a twin and as far as I know she’s the only one who God gave that face to” Ruth said and Damian turn to June.
“Heard that! Now am more convince that it’s you in the picture. I told you….I told you not to keep anything from me and you promise, you promise to do just that but at the end….you will always be what you are, a liar!” Damian snap at June before heading to the study.
“What’s going on?” Ruth ask a sad looking June.
“Damian thinks am cheating on him, mom” June said as tears slid down her cheek.
<< RONALD AND MITCHELL APARTMENT>>
“Thanks Davina, update us if there’s more info” Mitchell said before ending the call.
” Whatever thing you are doing is definitely working. Davina just called to tell me that they both had a row and that Damian won’t believe anything June say” Mitchell said, sipping her wine.
“That’s perfect” Ronald mutter also taking a sip of his whiskey.
“So will you tell us what this plan of yours is. You keep going out and keeping things from us, I have a right to know your plan since I will be the one getting Damian” Mitchell said to her brother.
“I promise that when the time come, I will let you in on my plan but I can’t let you do that for now. Things will just have to stay between…..” His phone rang and the conversation between them ended.
Mitchell watch him spoke on the phone, looking secretive.
He ended the call and told her that he’s going out to meet a friend and so, she bid him off but as soon as his car took off, Mitchell got into her car and followed him.
In the confine of her car, she watch him go into an hotel and sneakingly went after him.
Down the hall, she saw the room he went into and went there as well.
A brief knock got Ronald opening the door and Mitchell force her way in.
“I know you are keeping something from me and I….You!” Mitchell said in shock as she stared at the other person in the room with her brother.
“Don’t tell me that you two are…working together?” Mitchell ask starring at the two of them.
“We are working together and let me tell you that it’s been fun ever since we started it” Ronald reply, laughing out cruelly……
Episode 27 & 28 : The Fight for Survival
<< HOTEL ROOM >>
“I can’t believe you are working with my brother? For crying out loud, Damian is into you! How can you be so cruel to him, June!” Mitchell yell at the lady standing in front of her and her laughter got Mitchell more angry.
“Am going to break that teeth of yours!” Mitchell said, walking towards her but Ronald held her.
“Relax. She’s not June” Ronald said and that calm Mitchell.
“What do you mean by that? You think am a fool who can’t tell that it’s June standing in front of me”
“You are cause if you look clearly, you will see that she’s not June. She’s Juliet, June twin” Ronald reveal shocking Mitchell into silence.
“Well, if your sister can be completely fooled by me. It’s going to be fun pretending to be June” Juliet said, walking towards Mitchell to shake her hand.
“Wh…what exactly is going on? Can someone explain” Mitchell said, pulling her hand out of Juliet’s.
“It’s a long story” Ronald began, prompting her to seat which she did.
“June and Juliet are twins. I first met them at Hope orphanage. Remember I use to accompany Mom to the orphanage” Ronald said
“I remember you will always make a fuss if she didn’t take you”.
“Yeah. That’s where I first them but circumstance happen and they got separated, June has no memory of having a twin but Juliet does. I got reacquainted with Juliet after so many years and then I met June “
“Juliet and I decided to work together. If Juliet pretends to be June. Things will work out the way we want which is working out by the way” Ronald finish.
“So the one Damian saw going to an hotel was Juliet?” Mitchell ask.
“We were just testing waters, we didn’t expect it to create a problem so fast” Ronald reply, sipping his wine.
“So, what do you gain out of this? I know you can’t accept to help my brother for free” Mitchell said to Juliet.
“Relax, am not after your Damian or anything. My main goal is Ruth and June” Juliet said, anger lace in her voice.
“I thought we already talk about the June part” Ronald said and Juliet smile at him.
“Who’s Ruth and why are you after your sister?” Mitchell ask.
“Ruth is June’s mom and Juliet here has an hatred for her….an hatred that began years ago” Ronald said quickly.
“It’s a family thing and I will handle that after I help Ronald get June” Juliet added.
“Get June? Are you interested in June?” Mitchell ask her brother.
“Didn’t your brother ever tell you how crazy he is about her. He was years ago and he still is” Juliet said while Ronald frown at her.
“So your plan all along is to help me with Damian while you have June to yourself! What about Davina, she loves you” Mitchell half yell.
“Davina is just a diversion. I never love her and I never will, she’s been pushing herself on me and you can’t expect me to resist, I’m a man after all”
“More like a pig” Mitchell said.
“Do you intend to tell her cause if you do, we won’t have a direct spy for us to…”
“I won’t tell her. Am not that stupid as to ruin the opportunity I have with Damian. She knows a lot of things about me and so, we will have to keep buttering her up for our sake” Mitchell told her brother who nodded in agreement.
“All this talking have made me hungry, can you order something, Ronald” Juliet said, moving towards the kitchen counter.
“You know, you look so much like June and maybe that’s….arrgh!” Mitchell let out a scream when Juliet threw her wine glass but luckily the glass broke in front of Mitchell’s feet.
“Why did you that! That could have smash on me!” Mitchell yell at her.
“Do not ever tell me that I look like June, I hate it and I can kill whoever say so” Juliet said.
“Oh, you think am just gonna seat and watch you touch me, you psycho!” Mitchell yell getting up from the sofa but Ronald stood in her path.
“Juliet hates it when people say she looks like June. Just let it go and don’t ever throw something dangerous at my sister again!” Ronald yell at Juliet who gave a nonchalant shrug.
“You are lucky today but the next time you say such thing, I won’t miss” Juliet added and went straight to her room.
“She’s crazy, more crazier than June” Mitchell said, holding onto her chest….
<< WINTER MANSION~ EVENING >>
“Let’s leave! You can’t live with a man who doesn’t trust you” Ruth said to June when she finish her explanation.
“If I leave then it will look like I’m guilty. I won’t leave until I prove my innocence” June said and a while later after seeing her mother off, she went to Damian study.
“Dinner is ready, Will you….”
“I’m not hungry and I will like to be alone” he said, cutting her off.
“Are you for real? I already told you that it’s not me, why won’t you trust me?”
“Trust is something you earn, June. You fooled me once and if you think you will get a chance to fool me again, you are in for a surprise” He said harshly.
“In order for you to believe me. I must prove my innocence, right?” She ask and when he said nothing, she continue.
“Alright! I will get the prove and shove it down your face and also….this is the number of the man I was with this afternoon, call him and ask him why I went to see him. You don’t deserve me telling you” she said hotly and left the room.
<< NEXT DAY >>
“Are you sure this is the hotel ?” Teresa ask as she walk in with June.
“It’s the hotel Damian secretary allegedly saw me going with my lover” June said.
“I really want to know who is behind this. If I do, I will definitely kill them and your husband isn’t left out! How can he not trust you. Let’s go get the proof and shove it down his face” Teresa said as they approach the receptionist who immediately recognize her.
“Should I book the same room like I did yesterday?” The receptionist ask.
“You see. I’m not the lady who came here yesterday, I’m her twin and I’d like you to do me a favour, I need the CCTV footage of her arriving with her lover” June said.
“Am sorry but we don’t give out our camera footage, I’m going to have to ask you to leave” She said and a while later the security men escourted them out.
“We shouldn’t have tell her the truth. I should have just dress you up as this imposter and you pretend to be her and get the CCTV footage. Why didn’t I think of that on time” Teresa said, hitting her head.
“Don’t worry. I know someone who can be of help” June said.
An hour later, Nathan left the hotel whistling to celebrate his triumph.
“Did you get it ?” June ask.
“It was easy peasy” Nathan reply.
“Way to go our great hacker” Teresa said, kissing his cheek while he blush hard.
“What do you plan to do with the footage and how will it prove your innocence?” Nathan ask.
“I’m going to show it to Damian. The man the imposter is with isn’t the man I was with yesterday. I will also need to show him the footage of the restaurant I was at yesterday, he will watch the two and compare but first, let me take a look at the video” June said and Nathan play it for her on his laptop.
“Sh…she looks so much like you, June” Teresa who was also watching said.
“I won’t deny that I was also shock when I saw her. Do you think she’s your twin?” Nathan ask.
“Mom told me that I’m not a twin and I believe her. Maybe, she’s just my Doppelganger ” June said, knowing something is off.
“That’s right. Let’s get going before the restaurant close” Teresa urge and they left.

Damian was alone in his office, starring at the number June had given him last night.
He has been tempted to call but the anger he felt keep stopping him….how did she expect him to call her lover?
He stood in front of the window and didn’t notice Mitchell entrance until she wrap her arms around him from behind.
“What are you doing here?”
“I came to see you. I heard about what June did, she’s so shameless”
“Do not insult my wife!”
“Whatever but we both know that that is what she is. Anyway, I came to try to cheer you up, how about we go out for lunch”.
“I”m not hungry” Damian said, going back to his seat.
“Oh common! Allow me to cheer you up” she said, taking hold of his hand to pull him up and when he pull away, she sat on his laps.
“What’s your deal, Mitchell?”
“Say you will come with me or I won’t get up ” she said, sitting more comfortably.
“Am not in the mood, so get off” he said, pushing her legs off but Mitchell wrap her arm around his neck and pull his head down for a kiss.
That was how June and Stacey met them when they walk in.
“Sir, your wife is here” Stacey said after faking a loud cough.
“June!” Damian call, pushing Mitchell away.
“I will like to talk to you, alone” June said, ignoring Mitchell.
“I get the drill, I will leave but don’t forget our date, okay” Mitchell said, blowing him a kiss before leaving the room.
“June it’s not what….”
“For what I have to tell you, I need Stacey to be present” June said cutting him off and when Stacey join them, June brought out the footage to play.
“This is a footage of the hotel and this is the one of the restaurant which I was at yesterday. If you look at the time, you will see that it correspond and so there’s no way, I will be at a place at the same frame of time”.
“You are right. The man going into the hotel is the one we saw yesterday ” Stacey said to her boss who nodded without saying a word.
“Am pretty sure that you didn’t call the number I gave you last night. Well the name of the man I was with is Steve Pitts, he is an event organiser, You can check it out if you want” June said and immediately, Stacey did that and show it to Damian.
“Can you please, leave us alone” Damian said to Stacey who immediately left the room.
“June…”.
“I’m innocent. I didn’t cheat on you and I’m not the girl who went to that hotel with that man” June said, interrupting him.
“I know and am sorry, I should have trusted you. I shouldn’t have jump to conclusion and I….”
“I want to leave, Damian”.
“Huh?”
“Right now, I don’t want to see you and neither do I want to be close to you and so, I’m going to leave” she said, her eyes filled with tears…
Episode 29 & 30 : The Final Showdown

“Y..you are leaving? Please don’t! I was a jerk for not trusting you and I will do everything In my power to get your forgiveness but don’t leave” he said, holding onto June’s hand but she pull away and got out of her chair.
“It’s so easy for you not to trust me and so easy for you to apologise. Sorry doesn’t do the truck sometimes. Nathan will come get my things this afternoon, can you help me prepare that?”
“June”.
“You don’t have to worry about me not coming to work, I definitely will and in return, I’d like for you to act like you don’t know me. I beg you” she added and left the room.
Damian bit his lips and ruffle his hair while cursing himself, he should have trusted her, he should have….his thoughts were interrupted when his phone began to ring.
“Davina just told me everything that happen. Don’t tell me that you didn’t trust your wife, You moron! ” Martha yell down the line.
“Look mom, I’m in the middle of something….”
“Do you know the man she was with? He is a famous event planner. She went to see him on behalf of me to help prepare the surprise birthday party for you!”
“If she had lied, it was because I ask her to. Who would want to ruin a surprise by telling everything and just so you know, the real reason i’m in Korea is to get you a gift, your wife sent me to get it for you. She would have presented it to you on your birthday but you ruined it all. Now that I’m starting to like June, you just had to….I wish I was there to smack you on the head” Martha said in anger.
“Yeah. Wish you were here to smack some sense into me…thanks for telling me mom and I will work everything out, I promise” Damian said and as soon as he end the call, he got his secretary to cancel his other appointment and went to get his wife back.
<< EVENING ~ TERESA AND JUNE APARTMENT >>
June woke to see it was seven in the evening, she had slept for more than three hours.
After leaving Damian office, she return home to cry her eyes out and when there was no more tears left, sleep took it’s place.
“Your up. Hope I didn’t wake you” Teresa ask as soon as June walk into the kitchen.
“You didn’t ” June said, taking a seat.
“About you and Damian….” Teresa let the rest trail off waiting for June to fill the answers.
“It’s over. I don’t want to have anything to do with him again” June said.
“Oh girl! I know you are angry and all but you love him. Can’t you forgive him this time”
“I saw him kissing Mitchell…should I still forgive him?” June ask.
“Definitely not! Keep him away” Teresa said, angry on behalf of her friend and June couldn’t help but to smile.
“I told Nathan to go get my things, Is it here?” June ask, looking around their apartment.
“Well that’s another thing. Nathan did get your things but he came back with someone” Teresa said, starring at the door.
“Who?”
“Your hubby. As soon I saw him, I gave him a piece of my mind and didn’t allow him in” Teresa said hotly.
“Thanks”
“But the thing is that he hasn’t left. He’s still at the door ” Teresa reveal and June did a shrug.
“Am sure that once he gets tired, he will leave” June said, taking a plate to dish the food Teresa just made.
A while later, she was in the kitchen washing the plate when the rain started.
Her first thought was Damian but she knew he would have gone, so she continue with her task.
“You won’t believe it June but Damian is still out there and in the rain” As soon as Teresa said that, June left the kitchen and went to take a look at the window.
In the cold and heavy rain stood Damian who isn’t even trying to cover himself up.
“Shouldn’t you do something? He’s going to catch a cold” Teresa said, feeling sorry for him.
More angry than ever, June pick up an umbrella and went outside.
“Are you crazy! Can’t you see the rain? Do you wanna catch a cold!” She said, as she walk towards him with the umbrella shielding them both.
“I had to see you” he said, water dripping down his face.
“Teresa made it clear to you that I don’t want to see you! Don’t you understand that?” She half yell.
“But I want to see you, I want us to talk and I want to ask you to forgive me. Mother called and told me everything, I am so….” The loud sneeze he made got her asking him to go in with her and unknown to the two.
Ronald and Violet were seated in the car, a distance away watching them go in.
Violet stare at Ronald and saw his hands clench into a tight knot, his expression that of a angry beast.
“Just let them be. Today will be the last day they spend together” Violet said, taking hold of his hand.
“Do you think everything will go well, tomorrow?” Ronald ask.
“If we stick to the plan then am certain that it’s going to be fine” Violet assure.
Damian sneeze for the tenth time while using the sheets to cover himself properly.
He was seated on a chair in the sitting room and while Teresa prepare him coffee, June found him some clothes of Nathan.
“Here’s your tea, boss” Teresa said, slamming the cup on the table.
“This are Nathan clothes, you should get change” June said throwing the clothes on him.
Damian smiled nervously, not use to being around two angry women, he quickly went to get change.
When he return, Teresa was gone leaving just June.
“I hope that when the rain stop, you get going” June said.
“I can’t leave without talking to you”.
“And I already told you that I don’t want to hear anything you have to say. Just stay here until the rain stops and leave quietly” June said, going to her room.
For next half an hour, June did her best to focus on the novel she’s reading but she kept thinking at Damian who is still in the sitting room.
She could barely register the brief knock when Teresa came rushing in.
“It’s Damian” she said, a worried look on her face.
June got to the sitting room to see him curled up on the sofa, shaking and sweating.
“I think he’s catch a cold” Teresa said and quickly, June went to get a towel which she soak with water to place it on his forehead while Teresa brought drugs.
With the drug and the compress, he was still shaking and that got the two girls taking him to June room.
“Why don’t you get into bed with him. Your warm temperature might help stop the shaking” Teresa suggest and reluctantly, June got into bed with him.
Wrapping her arms around him and immediately, his arms came around her.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m just trying to help you” June mutter while he said nothing.
Hours went by and his shaking died down, June who hadn’t fallen asleep turn in his arms to check his temperature.
Knowing he will be fine without her warmth, she stood up to leave but Damian pull her back, wrapping his arms around her.
“Forgive me. I know it’s the last thing you want to hear from me but it’s the only thing I can say to you. I didn’t trust you and I said cruel things and right now you must hate me for it but know that I hate myself more” he said softly.
June had her back turned on him and as gently as she could, she turn to stare at him.
His eyes were close but he wasn’t asleep, she was about to say something when he beat her to it.
“I love you, June. I love you so much” it came out as a whisper but June heard it.
“Damian” she call and lightly touch his arm but he had gone back to sleep and June had no choice but to save whatever she was going to say.
<< NEXT DAY >>
Damian woke to find his fever and June gone. He could swear that she slept beside him last night.
“Oh! Your awake. Come and eat breakfast” Teresa said and walk off before he could ask a thing.
“Where is June?” Damian ask sometime later, now seated at stool waiting for breakfast.
“She has gone to work. The boss, well our department boss called her” Teresa inform.
“So early?”
“Yes, early and what…what you did last night isn’t the way for you to win back your wife’s heart. Just so you know, I am angry on my friend behalf” Teresa said not caring if he’s her boss.
“I know. I could sense it through your action and that’s the reason why I…I really want to make it up to my wife and to you and perhaps you can help me in return, give me tips on what to do to earn her forgiveness”
“Sorry big boss. I’m not giving you any tips”
“Not even when I promise to give you a month leave and send you on all expense trip. How about a trip to the Maldives, I heard their resort there is the best and their food is just….”
“Okay! You’ve won my heart. What do you need me to tell you” Teresa said, excitedly.
“Everything, tell me everything”

“June, you’ve got a call” one of June’s colleague said and she left the photocopying machine to answer the call at her desk.
“Hello” she said for the second time when the caller said nothing.
She was about to put her phone down when the caller spoke.
“It’s me. You should know who’s talking to you after all, our voice isn’t different too” Violet said.
“You are the imposter, aren’t you?” June ask.
“Imposter? Is that what you’ve made yourself believe. Common June! You can’t be that stupid”
“What do you want?”
“Just wanted to know if your mother told you about me already. Has she tell you about what took place years ago?”
“What happen years ago?” June ask and Violet laughter rang out.
“I should have known that she would choose the coward way out. She did that years ago, it’s not a surprise. Anyway, I left a message with your receptionist, if you don’t want anything happening to your mom then go check it out” the line went dead after that.
A worried June went to last floor and got the letter Violet left with the receptionist.
She open it and found a picture of her mother and Nathan and added to it was a note.
